szavala22 started following Yay for me today, Lap Band to Roux en Y, Port area still swollen and and 7 others
-
I had lap band in 2013 but then in 2017 it slipped causing me to have severe reflux and in Nov 2017 I had it removed. My Dr said nothing about any revisions so I thought I could maintain my weight myself. Nope...I was right back to where I started. March 10, 2019 I had a Sleeve done by another Dr in which I was very happy with. I am really looking forward to the journey again in getting back to my happy weight of 170.

I agree, it's hard to think about this being permanent. I have lost and gain all my life and now it's hard to get that ol feeling out of my head, "this is forever for me" I now have no more clothes that fit and I've been hitting the thrift stores and clearance sales. I don't love working out but I go everyday because I know it is what my body needs me to do. I have 10 lbs to go to my first goal and my son's wedding is in 11 weeks so I can do that 10 lbs I know I can. Congrats all your success. You go girl

Port area still swollen
szavala22 replied to debpaige's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I thought mine would never go down or not be swollen, it still sticks up when I lay down but it doesn't bother me like it used to. It took a few months though. Good luck -

Where Are You in Your Weight Loss Journey?
szavala22 replied to Alex Brecher's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Banded 1/29/13 down 53 lbs and feeling great. My Doctor says my progress is better than his Gastric bypass surgery patients. I love the compliments lately. Broke fom having to buy new clothes, but that's not a bad thing I guess. I love my band. -

I was banded 1/29 and same thing just within the last 2 weeks holly molly. I pick hairs off me all day and so do my co workers. My Doctor said it's normal and to just take the good with the bad, it will grow back

Compliments are hard to take. Not worthy?
szavala22 replied to Suzzie81498's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Having the band is just a tool to help you loose weight. You still have to do all the work to make it work. It's not like it is a Miracle cure. You still have to eat healthy, small portions and exercise. I too wish I woulld of done it years ago. My sister has lost 100 lbs with diet and exercise and I'm proud of her but she was telling people that she did it the "natural" way. I was so offended by that because it's not like we don't still have to work at it. Be proud of what you have done for yourself. -

Yes that's about normal for the pre op diet. Just be sure to get your protein in, the hunger will go away if you make sure to have 3-4 protein shakes. I lost 14 lbs in 2 weeks on the pre op

wONEderland today Yay me!!!
szavala22 replied to szavala22's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I am so glad I did this. My starting weight was 239. I lost 14 lbs in the liquid diet 2 weeks before, I didn't cheat once on any of the phases. I started working out at the gym at 3 weeks out and I go about 5-6 days a week. I don't "kill it" at the gym I just do 40-45 of cardio and (treadmill, bike, ellipitical) some weights. I eat 3-4 oz meals 3 times a day and that is all I want. I had my first fill at 8 weeks. I would highly recommend this and I am 100% glad I did it. I have more energy at 48 than I did at 32. Good luck to you. And Thanks to everyone for the congrats  -
I weighed myself today and I am in the 100's !!!! I had surgry 1/29/13 and have been working really hard to get there. I stalled for 2 weeks but the scale is moving down again. I am so happy.

I had my surgery 1/29/13. My Port bugs me. When I lay down it sticks out about an inch. Does anyone else have this. Does this get better with time. I feel like it is laying on top of my rib cake a bit.

Today I went to the Dr for my 6 week appointment. He said I don't need a fill because I have done so well without any so far. He was so happy with my success and determination so far that he hugged me and kissed my cheek. I felt so good about myself today and can't wait for the continued weight loss. People are starting to notice and I love it Also...when I sat in the Dr's office and crossed my legs...yes....crossed my legs it didn't take a bunch of effort just to flop the leg over...I actually felt comfortable crossing my legs.

Did anyone have a problem with pop/soda?
szavala22 replied to leannel90's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I think it is best to give it up now. After surgery you have so many other restrictions that one more will be even harder. I have it up a month before surgery so that I was over that hurdle. It is all about getting healthy and eating better and Soda definately has no good nutrition in it and can be a detour for weight loss. I found that those drops you put in water really helped and vitamin waters. Good Luck, have fun in Hawaii but realize the more you have to give up after surgery the harder it is to stick to it.
