LoooooL! That is too funny that you asked that! I downed a bottle of magnesium citrate an took two dulcolax on my way home from work this evening. All I need to do is get the two lbs off, go weigh in at Kaiser to get it on record... And hold that weight until the day of my surgery... I figure if I can get down my two lbs, I can hold it. I think they said my surgeon is booked out a month to a month and a half at this point. kimi

I was 233 when I got my referral (my highest weight... Ever). I was down to 222 at the time of my orientation and 217 during my surgeon consult (all within a month or so). I worked my butt off (literally) to try to drop it all ASAP! Ha! My surgeon told me that she wanted me to get down to 213 for my surgery goal weight. I have 2 lbs to go, and I'm at a stand still. My body is holding onto these last two lbs for dear life! LOL! So to answer your question I believe it was 10% of my highest weight. kimi

On a side note, I have Rheumatoid Arthritis, so I COMPLETELY understand the flair ups and the lack of energy... Completely. kimi

I haven't had surgery yet (actually, just finished wrapping up all of the criteria). I am going through Kaiser and I have met with my nutritionist and psychologist, both have made it very clear that this surgery takes not only a physical toll, but also an emotional toll. I have been told several times that if I feel that I have any emotional ties to food, that I really need to deal with these issues prior to surgery because while my stomach will be smaller, my emotional cravings won't be. My "drug of choice" has always been fast food. It has been there for me during the good and the bad time... It has been the angel and the devil in the past 12 years of my life. Prior to starting my journey into requesting the referral to see a bariatrics surgeon, I started working on the emotional/mental side of this journey. I can now say that I have made some major changes in my life, both in my diet and in my mental way of looking at food. Not to say that I'm not going to have some freak out moments post sleeve, but I'm hoping that dealing with my "relationship" (to food) issues prior to surgery will help. Having this forum helps soooo much! Thy is for sure. Good luck on your endeavor!!! kimi

Good to know my options! eval went great! I have TWO lbs to lose and then I'm golden!!!! kimi

Lab work and EKG came back great... Psych eval this morning! I still have 3 of my 4 lbs to lose... Gotta focus! Hey can someone tell me when it comes to paying my inpatient "Copay" is that done how it is in the clinic (prior to the service)??? Or is it something they bill you for??? I'm assuming it gets paid before, but thought I'd ask.... kimi

So today's visit went pretty amazing! I have lost another 5 lbs (since my orientation). That is a total of 16lbs down. Dr Chu has asked hat I lose another 4 lbs. I can sooooo do that! She told me that I am a perfect candidate for this surgery. Dietitian meeting went great. The coordinator told me that I need to knock out my psych eval, lose my 4lbs, have my lab work and EKG done and then I'm good to go. He told me once those things are done I will be placed on the wait list. I was told Dr Chu's wait list is about a month to a month and half out. I have my psych eval next Thursday morning. So things are mouth right along! Words cannot describe how excited I am!!! ???? Does anyone know about the process for the EKG??? kimi

That's what I was told during my orientation. That my goal weight would be given at this appointment. In thinking it will be the normal 10% (less would be nice, but I'm preparing for 10%). If that is the case, I'll have about 12lbs to lose still. I'm down 11lbs or so from my original weigh in (highest weight). Fingers crossed!!! kimi

Thank you for all of that information!!! I CAN NOT wait to run! That is one of the top things on my "to do list". Your breakdown if foods and exercise sound very reasonable. Nothing extreme. Congrats on your hard work. It's good to see people that use this tool to the best of its advantage, rather than expecting the weight to magically fall off. Super proud of you and your train of thought!!!! -

I'm scheduled with Dr Chu. She hosted my orientations and I loved her vibe.

It's so crappy that you have to meet a certain requirement... Considering you have to lose weight before you can actually have your surgery anyway! (Or at least that's one of my requirements). So frustrating. You pay so much for your insurance... And then have to jump through so many dang hoops...

Chiobani tasted like soap to me... Idk if I was having an off day or hat, but it tasted awful!
