  1. The same thing happened to me. I got a case of cold feet but I had spent an entire year getting all the information I could from my doctor, the library, and online. I even had strangers telling me I shouldn't do it because they did it but failed...come to find out during the conversation they did not follow the guidelines...or they had some complication...which does happen but can usually be repaired...and had the band taken out. I am 52 and had tried for 25 years to lose(about your age now is where I started)...which I did but would usually gain it back plus some. I gained myself all the way to 479 lbs!! I lost 180 by riding a stationary bike 3 to 5 times a week for 30 to 45 minutes, I got a part time job at a plus size clothing store which meant a little more physical labor, and doing low carb. Then I hurt my back, had to have back surgery, developed arthritis in my back and both hips, 2 slipping discs in lower back and 2 in neck, and bursitis in both hips. Exercising they way I used to went out the window and I gained 70 lbs back. I had my surgery December 14th and am now down 72 lbs. I am soooooo very happy I didn't listen to the nay sayers! This is the first time I have tried to do a lifestyle change and not felt like I was starving but is it the easy way out? Some may think so but I don't. Easier maybe but I still have to do the work...the band only helps. As you'll hear over and over on this forum...and rightly so...lol...the band is just a tool. I hope I can get to a point where I am not hungry most of the time like some of the others...I am still not quite in the green zone...one or two more small fills should do it...but look what I've done so far and not even in the green zone. Bottom line is you will hear lots if things from lots of people who are not in your shoes. You are ultimately the one who has to be comfortable with your decision. If you feel you have done the research, have the information, and are well aware of the pros and cons and you feel in your heart as I did that this is what you want and/or need to do then tune the others out. Do this or not for yourself first. Bring hubby to your surgeon who can address his concerns but let him know if you decide to go forward you need his 100% support. Tell the others to support you or put a lid on it. ;-} If I had it to do over I would run to the surgery as fast as I could and never look back and I would have done it a long time ago! ;-} Don't wait 25 years to find out you should have done it sooner!

    Am I Too Tight?

Thanks for the posting tip. ;-} I wondered myself if I might be just a little too tight but when I was able to eat ok Friday night I was hoping I was ok. I will consider a small unfil if needed since I don't have insurance coverage anymore I am trying to do things correctly to the letter to avoid any chance of my doing something to cause it to slip.

    Am I Too Tight?

This is my first post so go easy on me. ;-} I was banded on Dec 14th and I had my 1st fill on January 4th of 3 cc's, another on February 5th of 2cc's and the 3rd fill on the 5th of March of 1.5 cc's (total of 6.5cc's no I do not know what size my band is but felt like I was truly restricted for the first time) and everything seemed to be fine. I was back on liquids for 2 days, then soft foods for 1, and finally had my first meal Friday night. I ate my 3 oz of turkey and about a 1/4 cup of green Beans and felt satisfied so I stopped there. I was finally feeling like I might be where I needed to be. I got up Saturday and had my hot drink with my Mucinex and as happened since the fill I felt a little tightness when swallowing first thing in the morning but after an hour or so that went away unless I took too big of a bite or swallow then I would have that tightness again. I had my protien drink which went down fine but because it was a little later than usual I did not eat lunch and was going to do an early dinner and a protien drink later (my husband works nights so we are up late and I would have had time to have it long before going to bed.) I finished my protien drink around 1:00pm and made my dinner (again with turkey and vegetables) at 5:30pm. I ate about 8 bites of the turkey, all smaller than a dime, but right away I started to feel that tight feeling in my throat so I stopped. I will admit that those 8 bites, while the right size, chewed at least 30 times, and not dry, might have been eaten a little faster than I normally would have since I was talking to my husband about our current bathroom remodel and was not totally focusing on what I was doing. It didn't take more than a couple of minutes for it all to come back up. I waited about an hour and went back to liquid instead. I tried a protien drink but that came back as well so I again waited awhile then went to tomato Soup made with fat free milk and I was able to keep that down. However, this morning I got up and I have tried hot Water, hot tea, more soup, yogurt, and black coffee all in an attempt to get something down. I was able to drink a very small amount of hot tea when I took my Mucinex and keep that down but everything I have tried since then comes back up. I have looked at everything I am supposed to be doing and aside from last night possibly eating too fast I can't find anything out of order. Why would I be ok earlier in the week and then now have a problem? I do intend to call my doctor in the morning if this keeps up but I just wondered if anyone has had this happen after a fill and it just took a few days for the pouch/stomach to adjust and did not end up having to have anything taken out of the band or am I too tight? Sorry for the long post i was just trying to include as much detail as possible.
