Well.... Went to my regular doctor on the 14th and they referred me to the surgeons office. They want me to be on my surgeons diet before we appeal my insurance :-( so the next available appointment is April 4th so that is when I'm scheduled to see the surgeon. Hopefully everything will go ok and my insurance will end up covering it.

And also our insurance company in other policies cover the band Some up to 100%. My hubby said I can have it done no matter what but I'm trying to use my resources before having to pay out of pocket

They said u can appeal my insurance WOO HOO Victory!!! It's like u can start seeing a little light at the end of the tunnel. Thanks for ur prayers and wishing me much I appreciate it. Now I'm just waiting for the 14th to go to my doctor and start the process

Ok now I really hope I'm not over stepping my grounds if I am please say so. I have united health care too but in my plan its states that obesity related surgeries are excluded but I'm going to appeal uhc. Was this kinda the same scenario for u too or no?

How long did it take to get your approval? And which insurance company do u have??

Hey all I'm still looking into different options before my seminar and everything. I have some questions tho. My current insurance is united health care choice plus and in my plan any obesity related surgery is excluded from my plan. 1.) I am going to try to appeal my insurance company to pay for my band But...... 2.) if they deny my appeal they have plans to where I can drop off of my husbands and pay for my own and it's like 18.00 a week. I guess my question is if I do that (drop my hubbies and go on my own) for the surgery and ins and outs will it be considered insurance fraud?? Then when it's time to renew my husbands and my time is up go back onto my husbands insurance AND...... (Lol) Does anyone know if the new Obama Care is going to cover the lap band??

Ok I haven't had mine yet I'm still researching and my 1st seminar isn't till the 6th of feb. my question is we're u in a lot of pain in recovery after the surgery???

I have united health care choice plus as well. But my husbands employers stated that they excluded all obesity related surgeries out of our plan. :'-( BUT that was up to my husbands employer. SO I'm going to appeal my insurance company to see if they will pay for it. My fist seminar is in feb so ill find out more info on if I should or not. I also had a friend that had the exact same insurance and UHC choice plus covered it 100%. Good luck and let me kno what u find out. Thanks :-)

Hey everyone Im looking into getting the lap band done but my insurance papers specifically state the obesity related surgeries are excluded from our plan. My question is if anyone has had uhc choice plus and if they appealed them and won. My bmi is 45.6 so I'm considered morbidly obese. Any help will b appreciated thanks! :-)
