Cancer is actually a MAJOR factor as to why I chose the band over the bypass. Both of my parents died at an early age from cancer. All 4 of my grandparents died from cancer. And since everyone is going to die of SOMETHING, my bets for myself will probably the big C. Really, I know I sound like a gloomy gus, but I'm not at all. Just a realist. So if I need to expand my band someday, I can. Not like with the bypass. Good luck and I hope everything turns out fine for you!!

I'm in a similar situation. I haven't lost anything since a week out of surgery. I'm depressed about it and am REALLY sorry about telling some people I had the operation since I haven't lost any weight. I totally understand you not wanting to call the doc. I didn't either, but I did. I'm getting a fill in 2 weeks. My hubby even bought me a body bugg. So I track my millions of calories and lack of exercise Oh, and a treadmill, too, which has become a clothes dryer. But, I AM going for a fill. Care to join me?

I just got mine working last night. What does it mean if just randomly buzzes? I'm thinking I need to buy the watch, though, because I can't check it at work and it's too late when I get home everynight.

Sonia- you're so close to goal!!! That's awesome!! I'm STILL struggling with proper restriction. It's good for a while and then it's not good. I just don't even know what to say about that. Mandy- YOU GOT YOUR BIKE!!!! That's awesome!! I never thought about posting my scooter picts here- it's a good idea, though. Ebay has great deals on leathers. They even have pink ones to match my scooter :whoo: I also saw these cool mohawks that stick to your helmet in every color imaginable. I think I just HAVE to have one:)

JulieNYC's Lateral Thigh Lift and Brachioplasty
lala replied to JulieNYC's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
Best of luck to you! I can't wait until I am in the same boat. I think I'm going to look at some of your posts and see how you lost so much weight!! I'm barely 5'2 as well but haven't lost very much at all. -
I had Dr. Lahman as well. He completed my procedure in 32 minutes. I have never had any type of complications. I would highly recommend him.

Hey all. Just checking in. I've been totally busy. I joined a gym (yeah- believe it or not I'm FINALLY exercising!!!). Doing o.k. but haven't lost ANYTHING IN FOREVER. I think that I'm filled enough since I can't eat anything in the am at all. But then toward the evening I can eat like a pig. I guess I just have to stop eating like a pig at night!! I'm glad to hear that everyone is doing well!

Pregnant and Banded...come join me!
lala replied to raynie's topic in Pregnancy with Weight Loss Surgery
My ob/gyn has told me that I need to loose 40 more lbs before she will give me the go-ahead to start ttc. She wants me to start taking prenatal vitamins now. What brand do you all take? -
Congrats!! I hope to be pregnant soon as well. What prenatal Vitamins are you taking?
-
My ob/gyn says I have to loose 40 more lbs and then I have the go ahead to start ttc. She wants me to start taking prenatal vitamins now. What kind did all of you take?

I have heard that those with Lupus shouldn't be banded. What were your symptoms?

Welcome newbies!! How's everybody doing? I'm stalled, stalled, stalled. I think I need just a LITTLE more restriction. But I'm afraid my doc will put in too much, so I'm gunna white knuckle it for a while. I still abhor exercise, and this has really been my downfall. I will do great for a while, and then nothing for a few weeks. I'm thinking about hiring a personal trainer. They are so expensive, but at least maybe that way I'll actually get some exercise in!!
-
Have you talked with your physician about stopping your meds? There are many options available, not just quit them all. There are some that are safe during pregnancy, especially if you weigh the option of taking them vs not taking them. Please talk again with your doc about available options.

There are lots of people out there who would love to adopt a baby. My dh and I currently fall into that category. Just something to think about.

Hey all!! I'm back from another hiatus (sp?). Of course that means I feel off the wagon again. Not practicing good bandster rules. Hopefully I'm back on track now. Mandy- I'm glad to hear you're doing so well. You're awesome! Amelia- I'm so happy for you. You will be missed, though. Sonia- you are looking GOOD girl. Maybe I should hire you as a personal trainer/life coach?!?!? lol

eating more at dinner than the rest of the day
lala replied to ShannonRT's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Me too. And it's really messing with my weight loss. I eat a protein shake (or nothing) in the morning, soup in afternoon and then dinner and graze all night. I've got to stop or I'm going to start gaining weight. -
I'm glad that things are looking up for you. I'm glad you are in school. But do you think that teaching is a good career option right now? Children are VERY difficult to work with and create a very high level of stress. It is also a huge responsibility. A teacher made one flippant comment to me one time in 1st grade. I'm sure it meant nothing to her, but I still remember it to this day. Just something to think about.
-
Yeah- new people!! Welcome to all the newbies. Mandy- hope you're doing well. Let us know when you get a chance. I've been thinking about ya.

I use Slimfast low carb. It has less carbs and 20 g of protein. I personally like the vanilla.
-
I'm guessing that just taking B-12 in pill form is not enough? Is this why it is in shot form? Are there any side effects? Besides giving you more energy, what other benefits does it have?

I see Brian Lahman as well. I've been very pleased with him.

10 million baby girls murdered in India and yet it costs $20,000 to adopt
lala replied to Sunta's topic in Rants & Raves
My dh and I have been wanting to adopt for some time now. The PRICE on a human life, a CHILD'S life is keeping these children without parents who would love and care for them. The greed of some people sickens me. I have always wanted a little girl. The thought of them being murdered just breaks my heart. I would LOVE to have one of these little girls. -
One year Bandiversary and Pregnant!!!!
lala replied to vintagehound's topic in Pregnancy with Weight Loss Surgery
That is AWESOME!!!! I'm so happy for you! I'm 34 and hoping to be in your boat in the next year or so. I've read most of the pregnancy threads on here. Wanting to get pregnant was one of the final deciding factors of me getting the band. From what I've read, most people have a complete unfill if they think they are going to vomit during the sickness. When I was pregnant with my son I became very nausious (sp?) but I didn't actually throw up. I think in that case they might give me a slight but not complete unfill. Please keep us informed! LIke I said, I read all the pregnancy threads in hope!!
