    Breast Cancer and Lap-band

Cancer is actually a MAJOR factor as to why I chose the band over the bypass. Both of my parents died at an early age from cancer. All 4 of my grandparents died from cancer. And since everyone is going to die of SOMETHING, my bets for myself will probably the big C. Really, I know I sound like a gloomy gus, but I'm not at all. Just a realist. So if I need to expand my band someday, I can. Not like with the bypass. Good luck and I hope everything turns out fine for you!!

    i even failed at this....

I'm in a similar situation. I haven't lost anything since a week out of surgery. I'm depressed about it and am REALLY sorry about telling some people I had the operation since I haven't lost any weight. I totally understand you not wanting to call the doc. I didn't either, but I did. I'm getting a fill in 2 weeks. My hubby even bought me a body bugg. So I track my millions of calories and lack of exercise Oh, and a treadmill, too, which has become a clothes dryer. But, I AM going for a fill. Care to join me?

    Bodybugg users report here!

I just got mine working last night. What does it mean if just randomly buzzes? I'm thinking I need to buy the watch, though, because I can't check it at work and it's too late when I get home everynight.

    New Chicago Friends Thread.....

Sonia- you're so close to goal!!! That's awesome!! I'm STILL struggling with proper restriction. It's good for a while and then it's not good. I just don't even know what to say about that. Mandy- YOU GOT YOUR BIKE!!!! That's awesome!! I never thought about posting my scooter picts here- it's a good idea, though. Ebay has great deals on leathers. They even have pink ones to match my scooter :whoo: I also saw these cool mohawks that stick to your helmet in every color imaginable. I think I just HAVE to have one:)
  5. Best of luck to you! I can't wait until I am in the same boat. I think I'm going to look at some of your posts and see how you lost so much weight!! I'm barely 5'2 as well but haven't lost very much at all.

    Anyone have Dr Christopher Joyce?

I had Dr. Lahman as well. He completed my procedure in 32 minutes. I have never had any type of complications. I would highly recommend him.

    New Chicago Friends Thread.....

Hey all. Just checking in. I've been totally busy. I joined a gym (yeah- believe it or not I'm FINALLY exercising!!!). Doing o.k. but haven't lost ANYTHING IN FOREVER. I think that I'm filled enough since I can't eat anything in the am at all. But then toward the evening I can eat like a pig. I guess I just have to stop eating like a pig at night!! I'm glad to hear that everyone is doing well!
  8. My ob/gyn has told me that I need to loose 40 more lbs before she will give me the go-ahead to start ttc. She wants me to start taking prenatal vitamins now. What brand do you all take?

    New Chicago Friends Thread.....

Welcome newbies!! How's everybody doing? I'm stalled, stalled, stalled. I think I need just a LITTLE more restriction. But I'm afraid my doc will put in too much, so I'm gunna white knuckle it for a while. I still abhor exercise, and this has really been my downfall. I will do great for a while, and then nothing for a few weeks. I'm thinking about hiring a personal trainer. They are so expensive, but at least maybe that way I'll actually get some exercise in!!

    Just an Update

Have you talked with your physician about stopping your meds? There are many options available, not just quit them all. There are some that are safe during pregnancy, especially if you weigh the option of taking them vs not taking them. Please talk again with your doc about available options.
