I'm not an avid swimmer but I did go swimming today (317 lbs.), nothing broke when I got out I also went swimming when I was in the 360's, no issues there either. Not sure about slowing others down etc, never swam competitively. Just for fun. Good luck, I guarantee it won't be as bad as you anticipate

My personal weight loss goal is 225 my doctors goal for me is 213... But I want to be a pretty solid 225. But, more than just the # on the scale I want off of blood pressure meds and the cpap. I'm already off of BP meds and the cpap is next!!

That's awesome! Great for both of you guys!! This weight loss thing does seen to run off. My sister started trying to lose weight around when I did and had lost 20 pounds, my wife has lost 6 pounds (she only weighs 145 and is 5'8 so 6 pounds is a lot!)! It's awesome how when you decide to get healthy others around you do too!

I'm only 6 weeks post-op but I do eat SOME of the same foods that aren't great for me (hot dogs, cheeseburgers that i make on the grill) but I eliminated A LOT of foods! I don't go through drive-thru's anymore, no pizza, stay away from desserts (except for very rare small snack), pastas, and the list goes on. I eat a lot of protein filled foods/snacks now. Ham, chicken, turkey bacon, turkey pepperoni, nuts, protein shakes (for breakfast almost every day). But, even when I do eat some of the same things as before its in much smaller amounts.

I read this book for a Western Religions class last semester. It's hilarious! There are so many crazy rules in the Old Testament. I started his next book "Drop Dead Healthy" but I have to read so much for school that I rarely read books for my own pleasure. But, I will finish it, eventually

Thanks ladies! Where do I send the check to?

I would definitely call your doctor and talk to them. They may even ask you to email a pic to them or probably come in to check it out. Mine never looked like that, but everyone is different. But, that doesn't look good. Call your doc maybe they can squeeze you in today!

Welcome! pre-op diets are tough but VERY worth it! Sounds like you are doing great! Post often with any questions that you might have. I won't be able to answer any but the vets on here can -
I had surgery a month ago, first week dropped 11 pounds! But, in the next 2 1/2 weeks I gained a pound! I was discouraged, annoyed, frustrated. BUT, I continued what I was doing, tracking my foods, exercising 6 days a week (walking 1-3 miles a day). By the end of the fourth week I dropped 5 pounds! Bottom line is, you already know what's going on. Your body is healing, take it easy! I know the feeling, I wish I wouldn't have stressed over it as much as I had. Track your foods, walk (or whatever you are cleared to do) and the scale will catch up with your hard work!! Good luck!!

Good luck with whatever you choose! The only thing that I can say is Figure out what surgery YOU want. It's your body, your stomach, your LIFE. Personally I researched the band and sleeve thoroughly on my own. THEN after I decided to go with the band I researched surgeons in my area that did the lap-band surgery. I chose one that is 45 minutes away even though there are tons within 15-20 minutes of my house. But, I'll drive the extra little distance to choose the SURGEON that I want! Heck my wife is a corporate accountant with physician offices that perform the lap-band procedure. I didn't choose them It's my journey and I'm calling the shots with who I want to help. I would just urge you to do research on your own. Not saying the sleeve isn't the right surgery for you, it may very well be! BUT, you should decide that, not your doctor. FYI some doc's like sleeve/bypass over band because of the aftercare that the band requires. They charge more and have to do less aftercare with sleeve/bypass. Anyways good luck no matter what you choose! I wish you nothing but success!!!
