I was hoping to hear from the scheduler today to tell me that the Nurse Practitioner cleared me for surgery and to schedule. I'm hoping to schedule it for May 6th or May 13th. Instead I heard from the Nurse Practitioner that she is waiting to hear from the anesthesiologist to figure out which method of DDAVP (a medicine that I have to take pre-surgery) I will be using. IT has been a pain in the butt. I have a bleeding disorder and I had to meet with my Oncologist stating that he recommends the DDAVP before surgery. He stated that I could use a nasal spray ($60 out of pocket), or an IV infusion ($1300 out of pocket). The NP said she will talk to the anesthesiologist about which method he prefers. I am already paying 13,000 for surgery, he better pick the nasal spray! Without this stupid bleeding disorder I would have been scheduled 3 weeks ago. MY Oncologist said that my bleeding disorder puts me at a very very low risk of bleeding with this type of surgery and said that DDAVP isn't absolutely necessary but he recommends it as you can never be too safe. I'm just ready to schedule it so it can feel 100% official. The NP said I should hear from her tomorrow. I hope they are fine with the nasal spray.I'll stop venting now, Lol.

Initial consult friday!!!! Nervous
Creekwood replied to Hopeful.In.NY❤'s topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
My initial consult was a couple weeks ago. First they had me fill out a 300+ questionnaire for the psychologist. Then I was weighed/measured. Then the surgeon came in and talked to me about what surgery I was considering, asked if.i had questions, talked answered all questions, talked about general info about surgery, then I met with the dietician who talked about my history of weight loss/gain and overall history. She talked about getting prepared for surgery and informed me of the 2 week pre-op diet that I would have. Then the fun part. The psychologist. This guy sucked at his job, he concluded that I wasn't crazy! Lol but seriously he asked about a half hour of questions ranging from expectations of surgery, personal history, lifestyle, substance abuse etc.. Then I met with the nurse practitioner who talked about the process going forward and asked if I had dates in mind. Then they let me go home. It was a two and a half hour visit. Not too bad at all. Worst part was the dumb questionnaire! I actually took a picture to show my wife. Enjoy! Lol -

Personal Pre-Op goals!
Creekwood replied to Creekwood's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Weighed in at 353 today! I have checked into MFP 15 days in a row. I had one day where I went over 2,000 calories (2300), but got right back on track. So far exercising 5 days a week 30 minutes a day has been my only inconsistency. Some days I do 20, and have missed a few days. But, I'd say overall it has been 4-5 days a week 20-30 minutes. When the weather is nice (rare) I get more exercise in! I'm excited for warm weather (if it ever comes!). -
I am on MFP, I love it. I have been working on watching my calories (staying under 2000) for a month and a half or so now and I have lost 14 pounds! I'm sure that I will have a couple days where I slip but I want to lose as much weight as possible pre-surgery. Mainly because I started at 369, now 355. I have about 150 to lose as well. I don't think what you are doing is crazy at all! Go on vacation, enjoy it! I'm jealous, ill be stuck in Ohio while you are living it up in Hawaii! I have read about people stuffing themselves the night before surgery! (As pre-op diet varies greatly between surgeons). Everyone does what works for them! Good luck!

I will be having surgery in Mid-May. Not sure of the exact date but will know soon!

My Reality Stinks- Shopping Trip disgust
Creekwood replied to fashionstylist's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I am looking at a May surgery date as well! I once went about a year without stepping on a scale. I knew that i gad gained weight from the last weigh-in which i was in the 330's.When I finally built up the courage I got on the scale expecting numbers and saw ERROR Lol. I had to but a scale off of eBay to find out that I weighed 395!! Then I lost 80 pounds. Then I gained 54 back! Now I have decided on have the lap-band surgery done in May and have been trying to lose weight again. Down 14 pounds so far on my own low calorie (1700-2000) diet. Looking forward to May! Good luck!! -
I'm pre-op but wanted to share my experience. I bruise easily, and sometimes have petechia (small red or purple dots) on my lower legs for no apparent reason. I went through 17 years of my life without knowing I have a platelet dysfunction disorder. Sounds worse than it is. Basically I bruise easily, blood doesn't clot as fast as it should, takes longer to heal etc.. Nothing life threatening. I would definitely recommend that you just go to the doctor to get checked out, could be something, could be nothing. But you will never know for sure until you go get some tests taken! Good luck!!

Hopefully next week makes up for this week!! You are doing awesome!

If you are having trouble staying awake from 3-5 pm and your last sleep study was in 2005 is it possible that your sleep apnea has gotten worse in the last 8 years? I won't pretend to be knowledgeable about this, just a thought. I wonder if another sleep study would help show where you are at today? Like I said, I'm not knowledgeable about this, just thinking out loud. But, being so tired that you can barely keep your eyes open at 3 pm doesn't sound normal to me.

I am pre-op and have been on the CPAP for close to a year. I hate wearing it (just being honest). I hope to lose weight and get rid of it! With this being said I wear it EVERY single night and will do so until my sleep apnea is non-existent (keeping fingers crossed). I have had a few days where I was sick and couldn't wear it and the next day was always miserable! My wife even asked "did you wear your mask? You have been sitting around all day." Without the machine I might as well be worthless the next day. You may ask why do I want rid of it so bad. Well part of it is because I'm 28 years old with high BP and sleep apnea and I feel like ditching both will feel like I have taken control of my health again. It took me a month or so to get used to the mask. Mine covers my whole nose but not the mouth. The first month I had trouble falling back asleep with it on if I woke up in the middle of the night. Now it might as well be a part of my face, don't think about it. Still looking forward to not needing it, however if I do I will wear it the rest of my life. Can't really comment on the weight loss part of it, except with proper use of the mask your energy level should go WAY up, making exercise etc. easier! Good luck!

You women are having a great time bashing on guys but I've got some payback coming your way!! Lol 1) stop talking DURING movies, we can discuss what happened afterwards. 2) I don't care about your co-workers personal problems. I don't care about your co-workers at all actually Lol. I for damn sure don't want to talk about them while watching sportscenters top 10 plays! Lol 3) we have different bathrooms, I don't care how dirty you think my sink is. Sorry that I don't clean it 2 times a week like you do! 4) don't send me shopping without a detailed list and expect me to remember everything! Lol it won't happen!! 5) yes I know how fast I'm driving, that's what the speedometer is for! 6) stop thinking that I care about your clothes. I can barely dress myself. I can't handle the added responsibility of rating your outfits. 7) stop telling me to throw away my sweatpants with holes in them. They are the most comfortable pants ever and I refuse to let them go! Lol 8) when we are suppose to be somewhere at 8 which is 30 minutes away and it's 7:25 and I'm in the car with the engine running and you are still getting ready. At 7:50 you rush out the door and call and tell the person "sorry we were running behind" BS YOU were running behind! Lol 9). I know the grass needs mowed, and no I don't care that the neighbor mows every 3 days. He needs to get a life lol 10) yes I know I missed the laundry basket, there's a reason I'm not in the NBA. Stop reminding me! 11) don't commit me to any type of outing with your friend or co-worker and their partner. I barely have time for the people in my life and am not taking applications for new friends! Lol Love this forum, you guys are hilarious! Lol it's awesome when you love someone enough to look past the 500 annoying things they do!

Friends don't just understand...
Creekwood replied to Karen85's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I guess I am lucky to be a guy! We could care less about eating in front of our friends who can't enjoy the same. For instance I have a friend who can't eat cheese. So if we eat out with him my one friend goes out of his way to discuss how he can't imagine his life if he couldn't eat cheese! Lol. I've always thought it was cruel and I avoid the conversation. But I know that we would never avoid him because of what he couldn't eat. Sounds like you need to let them know just how much it hurts you. I know you have told them, but maybe emphasize how much it truly hurts. If you do that and they still don't understand and change then it sounds like you need to reevaluate these "friends", and figure out if they deserve to be a part of your life. -
Great job! You can tell a huge difference! I can't wait until the day I'm out of the 300's, must be an awesome feeling!
