  1. I started my pre-op diet today, I can see why you cheated. This sucks!! Lol. We will get through it though! Good luck!!
  2. Oh and Good Luck!! You can do it!! Mine starts Monday, looking forward to getting the ball rolling.
  3. It is definitely true that there are tons of people who don't do a pre-op diet. But, I don't think my doctor cares about what other doctors do. So I don't think he'd want me using that reasoning Lol. It is definitely weird to me how much the pre-op diet varies from doc to doc, I'll just suffer for two weeks and follow my doc's orders. But if I did slip up I'd be sure to let them know. I'd be furious (at myself) If I woke up from surgery with no band.
  4. Call your dr and/or dietician and explain what has happened. My dietician told me its nothing to be ashamed about, but they need to know! Like Mis said there are people who have been cut open and no band because of not following the pre-op diet. My surgeon was pretty clear that he would be willing to cancel surgery because of not following pre-op diet. Good luck! I'm sure it's tough! I start mine on Monday...

    May Surgery Dates???

ANewMe that's funny about sleeping, someone at my nutrition class asked if they could take a Tylenol pm and go to bed early every day of the pre-op diet! Lol

  7. That stinks! My surgery is May 6th btw. Looking forward to getting this done! Were you on meal replacement or liquids? Mine is low cal, low carb meal replacement. Hopefully it won't be too horrible!
  8. My pre-op diet starts the same day!

    another spammer...warning (got via pm)

She lost both of her parents, the least that I can do is help her get her $9,500,000 dollars Lol

    another spammer...warning (got via pm)

I went ahead and emailed her. Poor girl sounds like she just needs someone to help.
  12. So at work today I informed my boss that I will need to take a couple weeks off next month. She of course asked why, to which I replied "I have to have surgery because I have a hiatal hernia (no clue if I actually do Lol). She immediately tells me "I have one too, I have had it for five years. Why are they operating on you for this? What symptoms are you having? How did you know you had it? I kind of froze and told her that I don't know much about it yet but I have a doctors appointment next week to find out more. I felt like an idiot. She didn't suspect that I was lying, was just concerned. I feel bad lying and I might just tell her. I just don't really want everyone at my work to know. I was definitely caught off guard and was unprepared to answer questions about my make believe surgery Lol.
  13. Donna you should be proud of your loss! Slow or not you lost it!! It stinks when people who you care about say stuff without realizing how hurtful it is. When I told my best friend about surgery he asked "have you ever thought about just trying diet and exercise?" He didn't mean any harm, he has never struggled with weight issues. Some people just don't understand how tough it really is.
  14. I have told my family, my in-laws and 1 friend. I'm just not sure about telling co-workers. I'm in school full-time and only work 2-3 days a week. I like my boss but EVERYTHING gets around at my job. Just recently this same boss informed me that someone is (maybe) sleeping with a co-worker who is married..

    First one for May???

Welcome! There are a few of us that will be banded on May 6th (including me!). Good luck on this journey and I look forward to talking to everyone on this page throughout our journeys!
  16. I don't know the answer to your question but I hope that you start to feel better!!
  17. I know that everybody is different but I am curious how well everyone was able to sleep after surgery? I have heard that sleeping in a recliner helps but I don't have one. I always sleep on my stomach, how long did it take you to be able to comfortable sleep on your stomach? I'm assuming it will take a while. Is just piling up pillows on the bed to prop yourself up the best thing that I can do? I have read of people laying on their side with pillows under their stomach so it doesn't pull as much. What worked best for you,

    Sleeping after surgery

Thanks everyone for your replies! We have 2 cats and a dog, but they don't really get on the bed (the dog can't jump that high Lol). But... My 5 year old son on the other hand has been known to wake me up by doing a cannonball on my stomach lol , or literally laying on top of me! I will have to have a long talk or two with him before surgery. I'll have my wife sleep with him in his room (bunk bed) and I'll have the room to myself!

    First one for May???

Ugh, good old sleep studies. Been there (I have sleep apnea). When I went the first night they hook you up to a million things and you sleep while they monitor you. Then you will come back for a second night and they will get a mask for you to wear to determine what pressure you need (depends on severity on your sleep apnea, assuming that you have it). This was way before I even thought of surgery, so I'm not sure what exactly is done for testing for insurance purposes.

bye bye to the old me...

Not at all! The only thing that I'm nervous about is I'll be on my Pre-op diet during finals week where I have exams and three presentations! Hopefully I'll be able to get food off of my mind long enough to do them Lol. But, I did have one day that I really was having a hard time. It was the day I was expecting to schedule my surgery. Was waiting on the phone call. I knew that once I scheduled and made the down payment ($500) , that there was no turning back. So I messaged someone on here who I have talked to since the beginning (she was banded by the surgeon who I'm using and has been VERY successful ) and told her what I was feeling. Do I really need this? Can I do it on my own? Will I fail? Why can't I lose weight the "right" way? Can I follow the rules? And the list goes on and on... Luckily they didn't call that day to schedule surgery and by the day they called days later I had talked to my friend and worked through all of those emotions. I know that I need this surgery. If I want to live a full life then I need to have this done. I am 28 and have high blood pressure and sleep apnea. My mom has diabetes and I know that's next.. Unless I do something! So now I am just eagerly awaiting my nutrition class April 15th, then surgery on May 6th!

When you are sitting there wanting cake and ice cream just picture what you will look like on your next birthday!! If I was you I'd go out for a birthday dinner before your Pre-op diet starts. Good luck!
