My Journey Starting With Pre Op Diet
Creekwood replied to Tawnya777's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You guys are doing awesome! I'm down 9 pounds since Monday! Good luck on your upcoming surgeries, mine is May 6th!! -
What do you think is the most important factor when choosing a surgeon?
Creekwood replied to Alex Brecher's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Experience and aftercare! The surgeon that I chose has performed over 5,000 lap-band surgeries and he himself is a lap-band patient! He also offered 2 years of aftercare in the price (I'm self-pay). Also, before I had ever scheduled an appointment I e-mailed him a few questions that I had and within a couple hours he e-mailed me back. Accessibility is nice to have as well!! -
Received Approval Yesterday!

Not losing much on preop. Discouraged.
Creekwood replied to wee315's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You have done great! The pre-op is so hard (I'm on it too), and you have almost made it!! Everyone loses differently and you never know you could easily lose those last couple pounds in the next few days. Good luck to you!!! -
The thought of eating fast food makes me sick.
Creekwood replied to WrenBird's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Reading this made me very hopeful! I (like most people who weigh over 300 pounds) LOVE fast food. It isn't even necessarily out of convenience, I just like the taste. I cut back considerably in the last 4 months as I've been trying to lose weight, but it doesn't mean I don't like it. Every fast food place that was mentioned I can think of ten meals I love from each Lol. It was nothing for me to eat pizza three days a week. Heck at one point my wife and I owned a Marco's Pizza and often I would eat it twice in a day! I hope one day that I don't like these foods, but I have to be honest it seems very unlikely! -
I agree with being very irritable Lol. My wife pointed it out to me earlier May 6th can't come soon enough!!
-
ANewMe Happy early or late (lol) Birthday! That does stink to not be able to enjoy it how you would want to. BUT, next year think of how good you'll be feeling! I know that doesn't help right now though. I agree with pre-op diet getting tougher. I'm starting day 7 and struggling at times. No cheating, just struggling with feeling weak and being VERY irritable at times. YOU are doing awesome and will get through this!! My wife's nephews B-Day party is tomorrow and I'll be attending and drinking my water Lol. My in-laws know about my surgery and are VERY supportive, so that will help.

Feeling weak on pre-op diet
Creekwood replied to Creekwood's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks for the encouragement everyone! Without it I'd probably be at KFC scarfing down a bucket of chicken Lol jk -
Feeling weak on pre-op diet
Creekwood replied to Creekwood's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
On a good note I have lost 10 pounds in 5 days! I don't want people who haven't started their pre-op to be discouraged. It definitely works! My biggest complaint is lack of energy, but not everyone has this problem. It'll be worth it, and I'm probably just being a baby Lol. Some people are on clear liquid diets, now that would be tough!! -
Feeling weak on pre-op diet
Creekwood replied to Creekwood's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks. I'm not on any Vitamins right now that's a good idea. When I get this feeling I'm allowed o have 2 oz. of juice to get quick carbs/sugar, which seems to help. I'm just frustrated overall, but I knew it wouldn't be easy! Today is day 6 of 14, I'm almost halfway through this pre-op diet. My dietician said if you are really struggling with diet to email her and she approve a chicken breast or salad. I emailed her yesterday, still haven't heard anything. I'd cut off a finger to eat a chicken breast right now Lol -
Feeling weak on pre-op diet
Creekwood replied to Creekwood's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Medifast and health wise products (5-6 a day). Unlimited SF Popsicles/jello, water. The products are very low cal, low carb, no sugar, high protein. They also taste like dog food for the most part. I usually end up around 6-700 calories a day. At least 100 are Popsicles Lol. I drink tons of water 12-16 cups usually. -
My hunger pains just eventually went away. I hope the same for you!!
-
I'm good. On my fifth day of 2 week pre-op diet... Uggghhh... Lol Pre-op diet stinks but I knew it would. But, I have lost 7 pounds since Monday so ill take it! I have been eating SF Popsicles like crazy! Looking forward to May 6th!! Good luck!

I'm on my 5th day of my 2 week pre-op diet. It's tough, but I'm getting through it! Almost everything I'm allowed to eat tastes like dog food or chalk! Lol. But, I have lost 7 pounds in 5 days so far so it's definitely working. Looking forward to May 6th!! Hope everyone else is doing well.

May 6... getting my excitement back
Creekwood replied to NYC1992's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm 28 and having the surgery on May 6th. It sounds like this has been hell for you so far, I hope it goes smoothly from here on out! I wish I would have had this at 21. Since then I have been on several vacations and missed out on stuff because of my weight. Parasailing Riding rides Zip line Plane rides (didnt miss out but they suck when you are as big as me!!) Go karts Just overall getting tired too early to enjoy things with my son. Think of the positive side. You are young! You won't have to miss out on things because of your weight! You can and will do this! Good luck!! -
My Journey Starting With Pre Op Diet
Creekwood replied to Tawnya777's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am on my fourth day of pre-op diet, and like you find myself tired/weak often. My nutritionist said its from carb detox and it will get better. I'm in college and can easily walk a couple miles around campus between classes and I definitely feel more fatigue than usual. Also, I just now noticed EVERYONE is eating something!! Lol Starbucks, pizza, skyline chili dogs, quesadillas! I'm sitting there with a protein bar/shake, Lol. But it's worth it, I'm already losing some weight and looking forward to surgery! Good luck to you ANSI look forward to reading more of your posts! -
I'm getting banded on May 6th! Today is the fourth day of my pre-op diet! It's tough but worth it! (And I'm already losing weight with it!) good luck everyone!!

Personal Pre-Op goals!
Creekwood replied to Creekwood's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Checking in at 345! 24 pounds loss so far. I was at 349 (down 20 pounds) when my official pre-op diet started a few days ago. Only 4 pounds away from my original goal for weight on day of starting pre-op diet (but my diet started a week sooner than I anticipated). But, I'm definitely happy with my 24 pound loss so far. I still would love to be around 335 on surgery day, but I'll be happy wherever I end up! The pre-op diet is tough but I'm getting through it. It'll be worth it in the long run! -
Wow, that's cheap! My surgeon charges $15,000 and is within minutes of yours (in Cincy).
-
Today is day 3 of pre-op diet for me, it definitely sucks! Lol But, it'll be worth it in the long run. I know all about the cravings, I literally sat and thought about Bob Evans forever yesterday! Lol. I had a headache yesterday for a little bit, and I have felt weak/tired at times. I'm drinking tons of water and hoping that gets better! Good luck everyone!!

Anyone cheated on the pre-op diet, but did great with the band?
Creekwood replied to victoriously's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm glad surgery went well! Hope you start to feel more comfortable... -
Self pay psych visit costs???
Creekwood replied to beanie80's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Even though I'm self-pay I was able to bill through insurance as a mental health wellness evaluation, so I paid $15. But if I were to pay it would have been $100. This was for one visit, that seems VERY high!! -

VERY true! The other choice is to stay big and eventually die because of it.
