Every doctor is different when it comes to scheduling surgeries, so it's hard to tell. For most as long as you have everything completed and allow enough time to do pre-op diet (if required), they will get you in ASAP. But, sometimes insurance will drag out the process for a while (assuming that you are going through insurance). As far as the psychologist visit, mine was a joke. I filled out a 300+ questionnaire, and talked to the psychologist for about a half an hour. He asked me about my weight history, about what my expectations of the band were, made sure I knew this wasn't a quick easy fix, asked if I use drugs/alcohol, depression etc... It was a joke, don't worry about that part. Good luck!!!

GasX strips!! Comfortable sandals or sleep shoes to walk around in. It is too hard to put shoes on, so much easier to slip sandals on when going on frequent walks. Bending over will be a problem, it's very uncomfortable. If I think of anything else I'll post! Good luck to both of you!! You will do great!! Any questions at all feel free to ask me!

I agree with Mis. There is no way possible that I would be able to have held back from going off on her. My MIL is such a supportive and positive person so I can't imagine her saying something like this. BUT, if she did I would be furious and without a doubt flip out on her Lol. You are a VERY strong person for not flipping out on her. Good for you. She clearly isn't worth it!! I'd tell your husband that he needs to talk to her! If my mom was that rude to my wife if be pi**ed!! I'm sorry that she's so inconsiderate, especially on Mother's Day!

Good luck!! I hope that everything goes well and you're sucking on ice chips and eating SF Popsicles in no time!! -
I plan on having surgery in Mid-May. I will have a 2 week Pre-op diet prior to surgery. I called February 13th to schedule my consultation and decided that I would try to lose some weight on my own before the Pre-op diet. So from 2/13 until now 3/8 I have went from 369 to 357!! I'm just doing what I did in the past, A low cal diet. it always works for me, just can never keep the weight off! This time I will(with the help of the band!). Listed below are my personal goals that I have already started implementing. 1.) lose weight before my Pre-op diet starts. Hope to be at 345. (my tentative surgery date is 5/13/13 but it's not 100% official yet) 2.) stay at or under 2000 calories every day. 3) use MyFitnessPal every day to track food/exercise (EricNorth25) This will help me get adjusted to using it, which will help later on. 4.) Exercise 5 days a week a minimum of 30 minutes a day. This will include weight lifting and cardio. This will also help me get back in the routine! 5.) weigh in at 335 (or less!) on my surgery day I'm excited for the lifestyle change and am pumped to be 12 pounds closer to my goal! I will accomplish these goals and thanks ahead of time for the Words of encouragement that you guys will offer me along the way!!

Tomorrow May 7th is the day! Who is with me?
Creekwood replied to Bandedk8y's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was banded May 6th. I'm feeling great!! I have lost 6 pounds in the first week of banded life. No pain, nausea, problems to speak of. My incisions are still very tender (well mainly just my port incision), but that's to be expected. My energy levels are near normal. I'm adjusting to the purée diet. Overall I'm feeling great!! How about everyone else on here?? -

I know that I had never been as happy to burp or fart in my life! Funny story, yesterday I was walking around a store with my wife and son for over an hour all of the sudden I got this big urge to let one rip. I told my wife that there was 0 chance that I was holding back. I walked to a corner section of the store and let it loose. It was glorious (and a little louder than I expected). As I'm walking toward my family I walk past an older woman who kind of looked at me funny. I thought maybe she heard me, until I realized I was in the bra section by myself! LOL

I slept on my stomach last night for the first time post op (4th day post op). So I payed two pillows where my stomach and chest would be crawled on my hands and knees into the bed and SLOWLY lowered myself onto the pillows. It was completely comfortable. As for sleeping on my side, I still can't it hurts and is very uncomfortable! It feels like my incisions are stretching and will pop open (I know they won't, but it sure feels like it!). Good luck!!
