1week post op
LadyDreadHead replied to contrabanded's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was banded on 2/19. I lost 20 lbs prior to surgery (ten of that on the pre-op) and have lost 2 lbs since for a total of 22 lbs. Like you, I got very hungry yesterday and had felt weak for the past few days. So, I blended a cream of mushroom soup with chicken broth and ate that for lunch and again for dinner. It was filling and I felt I had more energy. -
There are several couples in the local Bariatric Support group that I attend. Most of the couples are one who has had wls with their spouse going to the groups to support them. Maybe attending a local support group with you might help your spouse to better understand your weight loss journey.

Constpation 3 weeks post op
LadyDreadHead replied to tjakobi's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I went from several days of diarrhea to constipation. However, I have Irritable Bowel Syndrome. So, I expected some problems. I probably need to begin taking Benefiber. But, I'm concerned that it will trigger the diarrhea again. -
Worried... Surgery for GERD + Lap band + questions
LadyDreadHead replied to pinx's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I understand your frustration. I started the pre-op even though I wasn't approved at that time. It was three days before surgery when I received the approval. I was anxious and feeling like I had wasted money using the protein shakes too early. Of course, stress made me wonder if I was going to backslide on the diet. Hang in there! Even if you are not approved as soon as you'd like, the pre-op dieting is helping you to prepare for surgery and the post-op diet. -
Great job!

Not losing weight
LadyDreadHead replied to wozzicat's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Today is day 6 post-op for me. I haven't weighed since Friday. However, there wasn't a change in my weight at that time. I decided to weigh weekly and not rely on what the scale tells me. I feel better. My clothes feel looser. So, in my mind, it's all good. For those of us that are still in the liquid stage, our bodies are healing and we are on very limited calories. According to fitness pal.com, my body is in starvation mode, meaning that it is fighting to hold on to my current weight. I know that when I increase my calories per my surgeon's instructions, the weight will come off. Meanwhile, I'm enjoying how it feels to have looser clothing. 3 days Post Op Observations
LadyDreadHead replied to Mellzbellz21's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I plan to pick up Huey and Chica tomorrow. I know Huey will be gentle. I'm hoping Chica will follow his lead. -
It's important to take care of yourself and listen to your body (and your physician). For me, recovering from a hysterectomy was a longer process than what I've experienced, so far, from LBS. Once you've healed, you'll be able to get the exercise you need. Walk if you can tolerate it. But more importantly, listen to your body. Best protien drinks
LadyDreadHead replied to mpljcorb's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I love unjury. I add in Torani sugar free White chocolate syrup to the Vanilla. Or, I add in Torani English Toffee SF syrup to the Chocolate Splendor with a tbs of PB2. Lately, I've been adding Starbucks Italian Roast decaf to both as well. Yum!!! [sharedmedia=trackers:tickers:2925] [sharedmedia=trackers:tickers:2827] -
3 days Post Op Observations
LadyDreadHead replied to Mellzbellz21's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm four days post-op. I feel pretty good! From time to time, I feel a little tenderness in the port area. But, I really can't complain about anything. I miss my puppies. I have two dogs that are currently in a kennel, 8 year old Huey and 2 year old Chica. I really want to bring them home now. But, Chica is very hyper and I'm afraid of her jumping. I'm trying to wait, at least until tomorrow or Monday. It's hard. It's so quiet here.... [sharedmedia=trackers:tickers:2925] [sharedmedia=trackers:tickers:2827] -

Kinda Weird about Snoring...

I have sleep apnea and have to use a BI-PAP machine to sleep. I can't wait until I lose enough weight to get rid of it. I hate sleeping in a mask! -
Good luck! I'll see you on the other side tomorrow. [sharedmedia=trackers:tickers:2925] [sharedmedia=trackers:tickers:2827]

Need to have a Lapband unsuccess story tab
LadyDreadHead replied to kristallynn13's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
When I first started to think about getting the band, I wasn't emotionally ready. I have a family history of depression and anxiety issues. And through a series of losses, I was severely depressed and anxiety ridden. It would take years for me to come to the point that wls was an option for me. I had to address the many losses and the trauma that have been a part of my life. For me, the way to do that was through therapy and medication. No, therapy is not for every one. And, it takes a serious commitment to making things better. But on the other hand, no amount of weight loss is a cure for a hurt heart. -
why did you choose the band? How much weight did you lose?
LadyDreadHead replied to rockdutchess82's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
After re-reading the statement, I misunderstood it initially. I get it now. -

Is it common for surgeons to ask that? I have surgery on Tuesday. So, I suppose I should give that some thought. [sharedmedia=trackers:tickers:2925] [sharedmedia=trackers:tickers:2827] -

For my pre-op, I have two shakes a day, 4 oz of Protein from fish, meat, poultry, cheese, etc., non-starchy veggies and Clear Liquids. While I'm glad that I'm not having any issues with hunger, I think the liquids only pre-op better prepares you for your post-op transition. The group I attend has quite a few regulars that have reached their goal but continue to participate. I find that very helpful. [sharedmedia=trackers:tickers:2925] [sharedmedia=trackers:tickers:2827]
