  1. I am so glad I read this post. The question came across my mind... If I get the band will I ever be able to ride again? Is there any limitation to riding though after you get the band? or can you ride (possibly better) before you had the band.
  2. So back in June I went to the doctor to see if I could have the lapband done. NO!!. My doctor wouldn't approve it. You know what upsets me the most is that everything that is wrong with me my doctors claim its from me being overweight. (Skipped periods, muscle tenderness... blah blah) So why won't they approve it?? Why can't I just get one break in my life?? I am just so tired of worrying about it(being fat) and not being able to go to the mall and come home with 50 bags, all from different shops and not just containing shoes.:faint:Maybe I should just save up the money and pay for it myself. Which will totally be dumb because if my doctor would approve it, my insurance would pay for it all. :whoo::faint::faint:
  3. The thing about my insurance is that my regular doctor has to approve everything before my insurance will pay for it. so going and finding my own doctor is out of the question unless I want to pay for everything myself. :nervous

    SAHM VS Working Mums

I was a SAHM for almost two years. My son goes to daycare during the day because I work. He loves it at daycare. I think you should do what is right for you and your family. Everyone has a different situation.

Movies that make fun of fat people

I was just about to add that why is it that the "fat" woman always get made fun of and its never the "fat" men. Its like no one cares if a man is fat, but if a woman is then oh no, call the presses. Its like the same thing with men sleeping around. Its okay for the men to do it but, if a woman does it... OH NO!!!
  7. We have them all over in San Diego, mainly in big shopping malls or like someone else said BabiesR'US. They came out with them just after I had my kid. Those parking spaces though are for pregnant moms. I only have one kid so wrangling him isnt a big problem. For the parents who have two or more kid's I could see the point in having them.
  8. LOL. Thats hilarious. That is also good to know.
  9. Yes, I probably do... just how would I find one? Any advice would be appreciated. :help:

go to the reply box, click on insert image, a little box with a yellow back ground looks like a mountain in the foreground with a moon (if you do this make sure the firewall isnt blocking it, on my computer it does this) or if you have photobucket or something equivilant to that, copy image url and paste in the reply box.

Here is a picture of Reid (my son) and I christmas eve 2006. I will post more when I get them, especially when I get the new member of the family this coming friday. A PUPPY!!!
  14. I am a single mother of 1, he is going to be 2 pretty soon :faint: and I am also hoping to get the lap band soon. Are there any other bandsters out there that got the band and has/had small children? How did it work for you? I do have family to help me but they work. Will I be able to still take care of him at home without any help?
  15. Well, I think that if you truely have to spank your kid, then go ahead. I have spanked my kid on the butt a couple of times, not hard or anything but just enough to get his attention. But like musicalmomma said, each kid needs his/her own type of discipline. Kids need discipline, that is how they are molded into adults.
  16. I just recently switched my insurance was assigned to a different doctor. I called and made an appointment but the doctor can not see me until may 4th... ahh thats so long :cry. This appointment is for getting approved for the lap band surgery. Anyhow, is there anything I can ask for or something that might get me in sooner than may 4th?

    Who am I

Again, thank you everyone for the support.
  18. I am just a woman that has struggled with weight issues since as long as I can remember. I remember being teased in 3rd grade about my weight. I have been up and down weight wise and really am frustrated. The least I have weighed in adult hood is 170, the most is what I weigh now... 260:help: . I live in San Diego and have a wonderful 2 (well he will be 2 in April) year old son. The father is not in our lives and is probably better that way. I love animals, camping, bowling and many more things.

    Kid and Lap Band

Well my son (Reid, pronounced like read) is a big momma's boy and loves to be held, not all the time, but I guess i will have to explain to him that I cant hold him unless I am sitting down or whatever. He may only be two years old but he understands really well, I am actually very surprised on what I can tell him.
  20. I have so many questions I just dont know where to start. I am really in a delima because the more I read this forum the more it makes me nervous. I haven't called a doctor yet to even get approved to get banded. Which I am sure they will approve me. I am 5foot5 and 260 lbs with a BMI of 43... I think. My insurance said as long as my doctor approves it, then they pay for everything. Anyhow getting off track. I hope that you guys can answer my questions for me.... 1. After you get banded and all healed and done with the special liquid and mushie diet can you eat regular foods? I mean I can't live without pizza forever. Yes I realise that I will have to eat healthy and it will be a different way of life but can you eat regular foods? 2. Do you have to get fills for the rest of the time you have the band on? or is it for a certain amount of time? 3. Can you do regular exercise, especially like sit ups? 4. I know this is depending on the person but do you have so much extra skin that you CAN'T wear a bikini? I know that sounds really shallow, but I have never been able to wear one before. 5. How long did it take for you to complete the whole process, getting approved to actually getting the band on? I cant think of anymore but I think the rest I could probably ask my doctor... I just want to make sure this procedure is for me. Thanks for the answers.

    Who am I

annieM, Yes I am thinking of getting the lap band I am calling my doctor tomorrow (03/26) to schedule an appointment to see if I can be approved for the surgery. My insurance has already said that if my doctor says that I can have the surgery they will cover everything. San Diego is beautiful to most people but I am a native and I am really starting to hate it here. It is over crowded, hard to find a job and prices are outrageous. It is really hard surviving on one income unless you make a 6 figure salary. Yes the weather is nice, I suppose. It gets hot in the summer and cold in the winter, although sometimes you can wear shorts all year around depending on how tolerant you are of the cold. Anyhow... I am going to be moving out of San Diego as soon as I can.
