    Post Op food restrictions

My dr also recommends 1 cup of food three times daily once I get to solids. No carbonated beverages at all. I can have caffeine and alcohol 3 months post-op.

    40 pounds gone!

Congrats! That is wonderful. I also hit 40 pounds down today (from last July-when I first met with my surgeon.) I will also very soon be out of the 300's and can't wait! 6 more pounds!

    Rash around incision

You could possibly be allergic to the tape/bandage. I was banded on the 21st and do not have a rash. I think I'd also contact my doctor.

    Returning To Work

I have my surgery on Monday, Jan. 21. I returned back to work on Tuesday, Jan. 28. I am a teacher. I have definitely been tired in the evenings but I've done well. I also think I have a pretty high tolerance for pain. I only took one dose of the pain killers before I moved on to just liquid tylenol. The heating pad and sf popsicles were my best friends for that week off work. Good luck with your surgery!

    I'm ready to chew!!!!!

I am right there with you. I see my Dr. next Tuesday afternoon and can't wait to have something other than shakes and soup!

    ...soooo tired....

Are you drinking protein shakes? I have 3 a day to get my protein requirements. I'm 7 days post-op and it'll be another week before I can move onto pureed food (like refried beans, yogurt, etc.) I'm still 3 weeks away from egg salad and chicken/tuna salad. I can have cream soups that have blended well.

    my fitness pal

I'm on MFP too. My username is shelley517 I've added a few via my phone and it gave me a warning I couldn't add more than 5 friends every 10 minutes! I'm working on it...
  9. Best of luck. Get lots of rest!

    1st week post op weightloss?

I started my pre-op on Jan. 8 at 332. Last Monday, I was banded and weighed 315. This morning, I weighed 308. I am down a total of 24 pounds since starting the pre-op diet on Jan. 8. Last summer at my first visit with the surgeon, I weighed 346 so I'm down about 38 pounds since last summer. It's great and I'm looking forward to losing lots more. I like shopping in my closet for those clothes that I bought that would fit if I would "just lose a few pounds!"

Finally my journey started on Thursday, January 24th

Congrats on being banded. I was banded on Monday and I thought at some point this week, I might regret my decision. I don't regret anything. It's been a good experience so far and I'm looking forward to what the future brings! Hope you heal fast!

    Pre-op and Down 28 Pounds :D

Congratulations. You are doing very well. Best of luck with your remaining days on the pre-op diet. For me, these few days after surgery have went by very fast! I am feeling pretty good today!

Day 2 of liquid pre op

I agree keeping up with the protein shakes helped me. I know I upped my morning shake to 12 oz of skim milk with a scoop of powder to help me through the morning to lunch. SF jello really helped as it was something to chew and I usually had a bowl of chicken broth when I got home from work to hold me over to "dinner" -another shake with the family. The time will go by faster than you think and once you make it to day 6 or so, it really becomes a routine. I am 3 days out from surgery so I was where you are a few weeks ago. Best of luck!

Best of luck today! I was banded on Monday and am feeling much better today. I've been up and around and have done some laundry today. The gas pains are getting better.
  17. I ran your stats through a BMI calculator and your bmi is 41. You would most likely qualify. Do you have any other health problems?
  18. For me, it took about 6 months from my first consult. There were several procedures to have completed (Upper GI, chest xray, bloodwork, EKG) and then visits with dietician, psych and exercise. I have BC/BS and they approved with 1st letter. It depends on your physician. I have a friend that had bypass and all of hers was completed in 6-8 weeks. Best of luck!

    Started Pre-Op Diet Today!

You have a wonderful attitude. I agree the liquid diet helped my mindset about the band. I am now 2 days post op and really have no desire to eat. I have drank 6oz of protein shake and about a cup of broth today along with water and crystal light lemonade. SF popsicles have been my best friend too, though my throat feels 100% better today! Best of luck to you. I know you'll do well!

The beginning... And two NSV with one SV

This was a great post to read. I had band with plication surgery yesterday. I can not tolerate the pain meds so am just taking tylenol. So far it is bearable but I think I have a high pain tolerance in general. I am glad to hear you feel great 8 days out. I go back to work next Tuesday and hope to be feeling pain-free. Best of luck to you! I am looking forward to watching your progress!
  21. I had surgery yesterday and was prescribed Lortab elixar and phenergan for nausea. I have only taken the Lortab once because it tasted horribly and burned going down. I am now only taking the liquid tylenol. My neck and shoulders hurt and of course my stomach is tender I am using a heating pad for my shoulders and neck and it helps. I am also on steroids for swelling. Hope you get to feeling better soon.
  22. Surgery was yesterday and I'm home recovering. It's good to be on the other side.

    January 2013 Bandsters Unite

I was banded yesterday morning. I had the band with plication. I am very sore on my right side. I have had a really dry mouth and scratchy through. My dh bought be some sf popsicles last night (tropical type.) These were like heaven and may become my best friend! My surgery was at 9am and I was home by 2:30pm. Hoping for some fast healing! Good luck to all those getting banded this week.

    Flat Breadt?

I love this idea for pizza. I have used whole wheat tortillas before and my husband liked those. I bet my kids would like the ones you described. Thanks for sharing!
