  1. Today I put on my 'real' wedding band and it fits! Still looking forward to the day I can wear both my wedding band and engagement ring together!

  2. I did clear liquids the day of my surgery and then full liquids for 2 weeks. I am now finishing up 2 weeks of pureed foods.
  3. I just had plication with lap band on January 21.

    5.5 months...ONEDERLAND!!!!!

Congrats...I am thisclose to breaking into the 200's....and hopefully one day into the 100's. Celebrate your accomplishment!
  5. Sooo clost to the "200's"---one more pound and I'll be there!

  6. I went out to eat for the first time since being banded. It went well. I realize I am a cheap date as my soup only cost 99cents as it was added as a combo with my husband's salad!

Many congratulations! You are an inspiration!
  8. I took off one week. I'm a teacher. I felt better each day so you may think differently once Tuesday rolls around. I was definitely tired in the evenings the first week I went back to work. I'm 3 weeks post op now and feel good.

    Too much protein??

My nutritionist told me that the body can only process about 30 grams of protein per meal. I use that as a guideline for my meal planning.

    Banded 2/5

It gets much better when you can start pureed foods. I am 3 weeks out and about a cup of food fills me up now. During the full liquid phase, I would sometimes have to have a Protein shake at bedtime because I was hungry. I also loved sf Jello and popsicles. When I was hungry, I would drink a cup of broth. How much longer until you can move to your next phase? -I also had some crazy bruising. They are fading now.
  11. Welcome! I am newly banded with plication(about 3 weeks post-op) but I feel this was the best decision for me. It won't be easy but it will be worth it! Surgery was easier than I expected (for me) and I was back to work within a week (I'm a teacher.) The 4 weeks of liquids was the hardest part. Now that I'm allowed to have pureed foods, it's great! Best of luck to you!

  13. I went back to the gym today. First time since surgery....I walked for 45 minutes at a 3.2 to 3.4 mph pace. It felt good.

I am about 2 and half weeks post-op and have no troubles drinking. I did not have a fill at the time of surgery.

    ALCOHOL?

I agree...I only took the pain killers once and then moved to tylenol. I have had 2 c-sections so I guess I am comparing pain levels and this wasn't as painful as I thought it might be. I would say day 2 was the worst...by day 4, I went to a night class with friends on couponing.

    ALCOHOL?

My dr recommends waiting 3 months before drinking alcohol and then nothing carbonated.
  18. I went in this afternoon my 2 week post-op appointment. My recovery has went smoothly up until yesterday when I noticed redness around my largest incision. Today it was even more red and started oozing this afternoon. So now I'm on a 5 day round of antibiotics. Hope it clears up soon! Good news is my doc was happy with my weight loss and moved me to pureed foods! Refried Beans never tasted so good!
  19. I have 5 incisions. Four of them are 1/4 of inch (or less) and one of the incisions is about 1.5 inches across.

    Surgery Date!

Congrats! The time will fly by! Do you have a pre-op diet?
  21. These days will pass by fast! Congrats on giving up the caffeine and carbonation. I gave it up last July and have not really missed it at all. I was a heavy diet mt.dew and coke zero drinker, too! Now it's water and Crystal Light lemonade!

    Hospital Billing

I had to pay my surgeon fees up front (approx. $1000.) I have not received the hospital bills yet....I also paid many co-pays ($70 each) last fall for required procedures and about $500 for an upper & Chest x-ray that was required. My insurance covers 20% after my deductible (which is fairly high though I can't remember the amount..)

    tats

I have two I got when I was around 22 years old. I have a smallish sun on my upper left shoulder and a crescent moon on my right inside ankle. I have considered having the one on my ankle removed as there is no special significance to it. I would like a four leaf clover with the first initial of my boys, and husband's names.

    Last meal ????

The week before I started my pre-op diet, I went to several of my favorite restaurants. I think this is pretty common (Last-meal syndrome...) Good luck with your pre-op diet!
