Has anyone had Plastic Surgery on their Arms?
codamom replied to "with the band"'s topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
Sorry Alexandra. I'm afraid I can't help with the $ question. In my case when I had my first surgery on my arms he did a face lift at the same time and the total cost was $7810 in Mexico. He never gave me a break down of what each part would have cost. When I had the arms re-done he didn't charge me for it and we did it at the same time as my tummy tuck which cost $4800. -

Nancy, In my case the PS was not happy with my results from the beginning. He didnt take enough off. My arms were still pretty floppy from the day after surgery. In fact he was the one who suggested we re-do the surgery. The second time they came out much better. I also had him do some lipo on the arms which helped the outcome significantly. -

Well, right now the scars are pretty red since I'm only out 13 weeks fromthe revision. They had started to fade to pink in May before the revision. They don't look that bad, just long.It goes from my arm pit to my elbow. It doesn't show much anyway unless I'm raising my arms. It doesn't bother me if people see it. The scar looks better than the hanging skin and fat, especially with sleeves on and clothes fit better! For me, since I had a face lift with the original surgery, the arms were a breeze. The face wasn't so easy, especially the eyes. They felt like someone was stabbin me with needles! With the revision, there was very little pain at all. After both surgeries I waited 3 months to do any real lifting at all just to be sure everything was healed up. I went back to work 2 weeks after the first surgery. It wasnt' too bad but I did have to put on lots of makeup to cover the bruising on my face. I looked like someone had beat me up! Anna R -

I had my arms done last November and just had the revision done in June. I love the difference! I hated the way they were always swinging back and forth when I was riding in the car. It drove me nuts!!! Now they stay where they are supposed to be. -
Unfortunately for most of us, no. It won't continue. My rate of loss has gradually slowed down from the very beginning. I started out fast for a month or two and have now gotten down to where my average weight loss per week is 1 pound. But still, you got a bonus of a great start! Anna R.

Most of us had a hard time before the first fill. It's not quite so bad if you know what to expect. I lost 26 on the liquid phase and gained back 6 pounds in the next 4 weeks. I just used that time before the first fill to practice eating like a bandster. I chewed each bite 30 times, ate protein first then veggies and tried to eat slowly. You'll get through it and wonder what you were worried about.

7 Months and I've Reached My Century Mark!!!

I had to laugh when I read what you said about your friends commenting on your new hairdo. I have a boss at work who is currently one of the top guys where I work. A few years ago, way before surgery, he was my supervisor for 3 years. We saw each other every day during that time and I weighed over 300 pounds for most of that time. I have seen him a couple of times in the last few months and all he ever says to me is "Nice hair do." He does give me a funny look most times, but he has no clue that I've lost 100 pounds since those days. Everyone else I know has noticed and commented. I was thinking about getting up a pool to see how long it will take for him to notice! BTW you look fabuous! -
Hi, Yes, I was banded by Dr. Kuri in Mexico in Septmeber of 2002. I could never have lost this much weight without the band.

Hi all, I am a new member here. I have had my band for a little over 1 1/2 years and I love it! I have lost about 90 pounds so far (not sure exactly where I'm at right now since I have a cast on my foot and have no idea how much it weighs!) I had my surgery in Mexico with the wonderful Dr. Kuri and couldn't be happier with the results so far. I'm hoping to lose at least another 30 pounds then I'll see how things look at that time to decide if I should lose any more.

Hi Darcy, Thanks for the welcome. The foot thing...it's an old injury. I fractured my ankle a few years ago and it never has healed right. My podiatrist wants to operate on it and fuse some bones together which doesn't sound like something I want to have done, so I convinced him to try putting a cast on it for a while to see if that would help before we decided to do surgery. I have 2 weeks and 3 days left to wear it then we'll see what happens.

Hi Bailey, When I saw this post I just had to join the board so I could reply. I have been lurking for a while and just never had anything to say before now! I have had sleep apnea for 7 years. I have had a CPAP machine for that whole time. In fact I have worn out two machines! Up until yesterday I used it all the time. I even got my husband to fix up a battery so I could take it camping with us. I love the way it made me feel, but I hated using the machine. It was very hard to get used to and even after I got used to it , it was a royal pain. But it did keep me from falling asleep at the wheel of my car (which I did at least once before the machine.) As of yesterday though I am officially through with the machine! I can hardly believe it. I have lost more than 100 pounds since I started using the machine and that has fixed the problem I had with the apnea. I can't tell you how great that makes me feel. It is very freeing! To answer your question, I woke up 30 times an hour during the test. I had to have an in home test then I had to stay 1 night at a sleep clinic where a nurse watched me sleep all night (what a boring job!) About midnight she came in and put a machine on me and watched me sleep some more. Anyway, hope this info helps you.
