  1. Hey guys. Just a quick question, I had my lap band this time last year. It has been very successful and I am now at my goal weight. Went from 120kgs to 63 kgs. I have had two fills my last being about 6 or 7 months ago. I do feel hungry a lot but I have lost my excess weight before through will power and through a lot of exercise. This seems to be the same I have lost my weight partly to the lapband but more I feel due to exercise and nutrition. I am at the stage where I am not exercising as much and have put some of the weight back on. I am going to see Kevin Dolan my surgeon in a couple of months and was going to ask him for a fill, do you think he will give me one even if I am at goal. I dont want to lose anymore weight I just want to not have to rely on exercise to keep the weight off. Cheers
  2. Hey guys. Well its been a year since surgery and I have now reached my goal of 62kgs! Not bad from 120kgs to begin. So happy now, I had the Lapband with Kevin Dolan and highly recommend it!!! My question is, I have noticed as most of my stomach fat has gone, when I lie on my back, the porthole is clearly visible its like a big lump on my stomach, I only noticed it when I was with my family at a hotel lying on a lounge by the pool when my daughter asked me what the big lump was. I was quite embarrassed as I never noticed it before. Is this normal?!? It doesn't hurt or anything lol just thought Id ask?

    Dr Kevin Dolan-Australia

Yes, I did. He is fantastic. He is very popular and the waiting time at his clinic is very long but I definitely recommend him

Week 3 post op and starving!

Haha - this bring backs memories. Keep in mind the band is empty and your stomach is slowly recovering from surgery so yes you will feel hungry because basically the band isnt doing anything as its empty. Just do your best to eat soft foods till you get your first fill. You will notice a HUGGGE difference when you get your first fill, thats when the magic of the lapband works.

    Band slip?

With the lapband all liquids will go through ease just like a clogged plug. You will find that you will be hungry for a while after your lapband surgery. I was also. Just keep eating what you are told too and dont worry, everything youre experiencing is normal. You will start to notice the lapband working after a few fills. Remember its not immediate, that is what a lot of people struggle to understand. Good luck!
  6. Hey guys! Just on Week 5 now (Post Op) and made a Lamb Casserole in my Slow Cooker. I accidentally ate about 4 pieces of the Lamb and forgot completely about chewing it properly. About ten minutes later I realised after I felt a bit of discomfort in my chest. Fast forward about 40 minutes later and I PB'ed about 6 times, i found it easy to throw it up but it took a while to get it all out Im feeling fine now but should I do anything like drink liquids for a while, a few times i found it hard to throw up the lamb and kept bringing up what I was drinking so i dont know if it affects the lapband or stoma in anyway? Any help or advice is appreciated

    First fill = not happy

Hi, I had my first fill on Wednesday (two days ago) I got 4cc in my 10cc band and i felt a little discomfort for the first 24 hours as it was still hard to drink and i could feel it go down slowly. I was told to stay on liquid for three days and today (Day 3) i feel much better. Maybe book an appointment in a few days and see how you go. If you feel better ring and cancel your appointment. Good luck!
  8. Hi all, First post on here, love this website have been reading it religiously since my first appointment. I had my surgery three weeks ago with Kevin Dolan at Glengarry and all went well. My question is for anyone who went through Dr Dolan does he stitch the actual band to the stomach to avoid slippage? I have looked at quite a few websites and all the videos explain that the actual band is stitched as well as the porthole is stitched. I never spoke about this with Kevin and wanted to know, dont mind either way but was interested to know. Cheers
