    Scooter Libby's Sentence Commuted

LOL! Thanks! I know this is off-topic, but I saw one of your posts from a while back about being restricted in the morning, but not at night. I'm going through that right now. I had my 2nd fill a week ago and can barely get even Water down in the mornings but can eat a ton at night. Did that ever resolve for you? If so, how did you get past it? It's really getting to me. That and the fact that DH was banded on 2/21 and has lost around 70 pounds and I've struggled to lose 13 in 7 weeks. I should be ecstatic - I'm off all my diabetes meds - but I really wans to shed the pounds. Any advice?

Well, I have to admit when I spend time in R&R no one really sees the "real" me. I tend to focus on whatever it is I'm posting about. Now that I've realized that, I also now realize that's the only side of you I really see. I guess there's more to both of us than our R&R posts, huh?

No, I'm not stupid enough to think the system is always right. But sometimes you just have to agree to disagree and you seem to always have to have the last word. Why else would you have posted all the anti-Clinton stuff after I had already posted how disgusted I was with his pardons/commutations too? I really don't care if the president is a Republican or a Democrat, a Conservative or a Liberal - wrong is wrong. So if you want the last word on this, have at it. I won't debate the issue anymore because it doesn't matter who did it, it was wrong.

He was CONVICTED! There is no debate. If there were any matter of debate, his conviction could/should have been appealed. That's how our legal system works. As to hypocrisy, there is more than enough to go around on all sides. Why does everyone always fall back on the liberal vs. conservative crap (i.e., "us" vs. "them")?? Why can't there just be "WE"?? I understand that we all have different values and beliefs, but the downfall of this country is not going to be whether or not we let Gays marry, it's going to be whether or not we stop hating and fighting with each other. "A house divided..."

    Harry Potter Anyone???

I was about to start a Harry Potter thread and found this one. Glad to see so many other Potterphiles out there! We have tix to OOTP at the local IMAX theater next Wednesday night. Woo hoo! I'm hoping it's a good one. GOF was pretty good, but POA SUCKED! They left out so much that was essential to other things making sense. I preordered two copies of DH the first day they were available, so less than three weeks to wait now! I've heard so many theories that I don't know which ones even make sense anymore. I do think that Dumbledore is truly dead though. On Jo's website (J.K.Rowling Official Site - Harry Potter and more) she isn't always forthcoming, but she never lies. And she has said that he won't be making any reappearances. Either way, we'll have to just wait and see...

    BBQ ideas

I haven't tried this recipe yet, but it sounds delicious. I did modify it to lower the carbs considerably. Balsamic BBQ Sauce 1 c balsamic vinegar 3/4 c sugar-free ketchup 1/3 c brown sugar Splenda 2 tsp garlic paste 1 Tbsp Worcestshire sauce 1 Tbsp Dijon mustard 1/2 tsp salt 1/2 tsp freshly ground black pepper Even with the changes I made, it's not super low-carb, but it's pretty low-calorie, fat-free and is definitely healthier than anything you could buy off the supermarket shelves. We're grilling portobello mushrooms tomorrow and BBQ sauce doesn't sound very tasty on them, but I'm going to try it this weekend. If you decide to try it tomorrow let me know how it turns out.

Help... I just swallowed some gum!

I agree with Julie. Besides, if it wasn't going to pass you would definitely know it by now. Just out of curiousity, why shouldn't you be chewing gum? That shouldn't be an issue as long as you don't make a habit of swallowing it (sorry, couldn't resist).

Visit to Disney - Restaurant Ideas???

I live in FL and go to Disney at least once a year. The guide Mandy posted about is great, but it only tells you what kind of food the restaurant serves and how expensive it is. My advice would be to eat Breakfast and dinner outside the park to save yourself a lot of money. That has nothing to do with attitudes toward food, it's just because all theme park food is expensive. As for specific choices, stay away from the "fast food"-type places and you'll be fine. They generally frown upon guests bringing food into the parks, but if you have a card from your doc, they won't say much about it, especially if it's snack-type stuff and/or Protein shakes. In our post-9/11 world they do check bags and could ask you to not take it in. Now as for non-food suggestions, while you're there try to get out of the parks and go to one of the local dinner theaters. There are several in and around Orlando. We've been to Medieval Times and the pirate one (can't remember the exact name) so far. There's also a murder mystery one we're planning on going to next, as well as Dolly Parton's Dixie Stampede. They are a ton of fun, and you don't have to stand in a never-ending queue in 100 degree weather! PM or e-mail me if you want any other ideas...

Who have you had enough of ??

Color me grammatically incorrect! BJean, after reading your post, I looked up "myriad" in several online dictionaries (I don't even have one in print anymore! ) just to make sure you didn't know something I don't (you don't ) about the meaning of the word. The usage however, is another story entirely. This is an excerpt from one of the entries I found. It's from Merriam-Webster Online: "Recent criticism of the use of myriad as a noun, both in the plural form myriads and in the phrase a myriad of, seems to reflect a mistaken belief that the word was originally and is still properly only an adjective. As the entries here show, however, the noun is in fact the older form, dating to the 16th century. The noun myriad has appeared in the works of such writers as Milton (plural myriads) and Thoreau (a myriad of), and it continues to occur frequently in reputable English. There is no reason to avoid it. " I'm not usually wrong about things grammatical, but I'm not afraid to admit when I am. Thank goodness I can cross this pet peeve off my list (although I have to admit it still just doesn't sound right to me). Actually, I stand corrected.

Like I said, he was CONVICTED. By a JURY. SENTENCED. By a CONSERVATIVE JUDGE, not a "flaming liberal." And what Bill Clinton did during his presidency is not at issue here. But since you brought it up, I was just as outraged at his actions. They were both gross abuses of presidential power.

Who have you had enough of ??

Ooh, grammar peeves! My favorite! I have a few of those myself. In addition to all the aforementioned ones, let me submit a couple of my own. I have others, but these are my top two: The word "myriad" is an adjective, NOT a noun! You use it exacly the same way you would use the word "many." You can't have a myriad of anything, just like you can't have a many of them!!! And then there's "meanwhile" vs. "in the meantime" - it's not just "meantime!" The local news anchors here say that all the time. Drives me batty!!!

    Jacksonville Florida?

Dr. Webb works with the Laparoscopic Weight Loss Surgery Center in Baymeadows. His office is in the professional complex right behind Memorial. As for picking a doc, I'd rather not take any chances. But I understand what you're saying. It's hard to choose among doctors with whom you have no personal experience. In the end, I think it comes down to who you're comfortable with. You might meet Dr. Webb and think he's a jackass, or I could meet Dr. Cywes and wish he had done my surgery. I think they all must be fairly well qualified or else they would be out of business (and a medical license) by now...

Thanks Juli! You were right, I hadn't seen it. I posted a reply to the thread. Sean and I were in St Pete for their Pride festivities this weekend. We had our motorhome set up in their street festival as a Rainbow RV booth, then we had a couple of RRV "floats" in the parade. The first one was an Airstream trailer (the stainless steel kind), then the second one was a small equipment trailer that we decked out as a miniature campsite, complete with pink camouflage tent, fake campfire and real marshmallows I pretended to be roasting. It was a lot of fun. What wasn't fun was the protesters. I'd never been protested before, so it was an interesting experience. There were about 15 men from a Baptist church somewhere in Georgia (probably where Deliverance was filmed) there with signs (Adam & Eve, not Adam & Steve....how original :tired) and bullhorns calling us all sodomites and telling us we were going to hell. There was one of them that I can just about guarantee was as queer as a football bat. It was ironic, but sad. Anyway, about 4 floats behind us there was a fire truck that just turned on the siren and drowned them out! They got a lot of applause and cheers from the parade-goers. On the flip side, the community was very supportive. There were a ton of Str8 families along the parade route, many with picnic lunches set up between the sidewalk and street. And they weren't just at the parade - there were just as many at the street festival! It was totally amazing! That would NEVER happen in Jacksonville. Hell, the protesters probably wouldn't show up anyway because they would be too confused - Jacksonville's parade is in July and their Pride festival is in August! And I just found out that St Augustine's is going to be in October this year! :faint: Silly me, I thought Pride Month was in June to commemorate the anniversary of the Stonewall riots... Ok, bitch session over. Did anyone do anything fun and exciting this weekend? How about plans for the 4th? We're just going to throw something on the grill, but we're going camping again this weekend (for fun this time).
