I have so many questions and I hope someone can give me some help. I know that they tell you not to get online and read; but everyone on here is a real person and I want real stories; whether good or bad. I am in the pre-op stage; I have lost 25lbs since the end of January. I was thinking the by pass orginally, then someone suggested the band, but decided I did not want a foreign object in my body. (OH BTW I am 29, full hyseterecomy, no health problems, 248, and 5'4", family health: high blood pressure, heart problems, overweight) OK so then I went with the sleeve, because I had heard good things about it. Then I went to my first support group last night, and then completely started re-thinking everything. I keep going back to the by-pass surgery. Everyone in the room last night, suggested by-pass surgery. I just am confused, and figured someone might could help. I am waiting to see what my doctor is going to recommend. Thanks, Ashley

Questions - Sleeve vs. Bypass
gagirl0583 replied to gagirl0583's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thank you Sazzygirl; that is what I needed to hear! Someone who had done the sleeve and had problems and changing to the bypass. I am so sorry that you are having problems; but it helps me to decide. I hope that everything works out. Good luck on your surgery! Please keep me updated!! -
No I walked away and let her have him! I have no idea how long it was going on; don't want to know either! I filed my divorce papers and kicked him out!

jenneliza: I completely understand! I lost my best friend of 28 years and my husband (of 5 years) in the same night! I called her to vent because I thought he was cheating and come to find out he was, with her. Needless to say my world came crumbing down that night, but I made it thru it; just as you will make it thru this. It is hard to deal with, it makes time to think about life and refigure everything, but just remember their is a reason some people come in your life and there is a reason people exit your life. There is a plan for you! Don't worry and keep your head up! I made it thru and you will too! We are here if you need to vent or chat!

Thank you everyone! I really appreciate y'all taking the time to respond. It is hard decision; I know something needs to be done; and dropped the weight is my main goal! I think the by-pass is the best; because the more I read; the more I am coming back to it. Thanks!! -

gagirl0583 replied to moonlitestarbrite's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Having guys ask to buy me a drink; even though I don't drink! Getting looks from good looking guys! Mud bogging in a swim suit! Going cloths shopping in anywhere but Lane Bryant and the plus section! Going swimming without wearing shorts and a t-shirt to cover up my fat! -
food choices preop, i've fallen apart
gagirl0583 replied to moonlitestarbrite's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
I completely understand! I was doing great! I had lost 25lbs since January. I was ready for my appointment; went for pre-op in March and they informed me insurance said I had to have 6 months of weight in visits! I think I went into upset eating mood! I was doing good; but got so upset! I am slowly getting back into the pre-op diet. I agree if I could control my eating I would not need surgery to help me! I gained 5lbs in 3 weeks. I am getting back on my diet; just taking it slow; because I can't stress and if I do; I will stress and eat more! You are not alone; and this group is awesome and will help you though this! Just remember you CAN do this!! -
I can offically say at 29 I have never worn heels! I can wear the think heels like on dress boots but that is about it! Really excited about actually owning a pair of heels! Ready for my surgery, so I can shoe shop!

What Made You Choose the Sleeve?
gagirl0583 replied to jackj's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Hey JackJ: I am ALMOST at the 30 year old mark with no health problems; except being over weight. I have tried every diet known to mankind (ok maybe not every one) but I would loose 5lbs and gain 15lbs. Nothing was working, my beginning weight in January was 263. My mom was pushing me to do something to help myself; and I agreed. I researched my insurance and found a doctor. I went to the seminar thinking I was doing the lap band; but after the seminar; I started doing more and more research. Something about a foreign object being in my body. The more I read I learned that A LOT of people are doing the sleeve after the band because it does not work. I wanted a tool to help me and as I have read into this page; I have learned more and more about the sleeve and I am happy with my decision. My pre-op is tomorrow and I will find out my surgery date. GOod luck with everything! -
Goodbye 230's; Hello 220's
gagirl0583 replied to Susie1226's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have lost 20lbs on my "new diet" since I started my pre-op in January. It is amazing how old jeans are fitting. I got on the scale yesterday at the doctor's office and FINALLY hit 239.8; I was doing the happy dance in the office. I am so excited to go to my pre-op appointment tomorrow; and get a date scheduled so I can get a tool to help me loose the rest. Congrats!! -
I feel fat in fitted clothes
gagirl0583 replied to ljperez's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am pre-op but this is something I know I will struggle with. I am a big outdoors freak and everywhere I go I see these little small girls in mini shorts and hardly any shirt and I think "you call that fitted". Give me jeans and a t-shirt; the baggier the better. Of course then I think back to when I was 20lbs heavier in January and think I used to wear some of these cloths that are "comfortable" right now. I don't know but this has been a big thing on my mind since I started my weight loss journey. It makes me feel better that I am not the only one. Please keep us updated and let us know if it gets any easier. Thanks, Ashley -

For the first time I am not obsessed with running to buy half-off easter candy and hiding it from my husband
gagirl0583 replied to NurseGrace's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am still in my pre-op and I was just thinking the same thing! I was so proud that I don't even want candy! Congrats to you!! It really shows the process that this tool of a sleeve is helping! It has changed your mind and your eating habits!! It makes me feel better to know I am not the only one that gets excited about the little steps!! -

How long did you research before you booked surgery
gagirl0583 replied to JosieMac's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I did very little research regarding the sleeve until I went to the seminar. I had read about the band for almost six months and was determined on the band; until I went to the seminar and almost every one in there was saying the band, once the seminar was over; I was rethinking the whole thing. My seminar was in January, and I had my first appointment in January. I told my doctor I wanted the band, then I got to reading and completely changed my mind. I went and talked to some people who had the band and sleeve and decided that the sleeve was a better opition for me. I have been on this form every since I found it and I am really happy with the decision I made. I go in for my pre-op 04 April 2013. -
Thanks; I'm about to call mine! This is crazy! It is right at my rib cage and it stays steady for bout 30 minutes.
