One of my favorite snacks is a little PB mixed with cool whip. It's like PB mousse...yum!

I've had one for about a year. The insertion was very painful. For the first 3 mos. I had cramping and bleeding every day. I have continued to lose weight though and after about 3 mos the cramping and bleeding subsided and I now only have light cramps and spotting for a couple days a month for my period. I'm happy with it now but the first 3 mos. were rough.

I went to lane Bryant with the same issue and the cashier had actually had bariatric surgery She suggested a Demi bra, which I guess you could say is a type of push up.

I was banded in 1/13 and I have a flipped port. I'm pretty sure it's been flipped since very shortly after my surgery because at my first fill and ever since my surgeon has had a hard time accessing my port, but he never said it was flipped. At first I thought it was normal and maybe just my body or the position of the port. But I saw another surgeon in the practice and he was immediately like "oh my goodness you have a 90 degree flip!" He showed me the flip on X-ray, and now I know why I can only feel the side of my port. My question is has anyone else experienced this and more importantly, did you have pain with it? I have a lot of pain in my port area and suspect it's related to the flip.

I see that you're in FL, my surgeon was out of Florida Weight Loss Centers in Tampa. I was also self pay and the cost was just under $10,000. Hope this helps, good luck.

Question about Vomitting
stephgfl replied to bandedmarci's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was dry heaving 3 days after surgery and had to go back into the hospital. I asked my surgeon if all the retching could've caused a band slip and he said that was very unlikely to happen so soon after surgery. I'm not sure why that is, but I'm now about a month post-op and doing great. Good luck. -

Hate 'em. This probably sounds crazy but I think "new me" is kind of sanctimonious.

I went out to dinner with my husband for the first time since being banded 3 weeks ago. I ordered salmon and mashed potatoes and left with over 2/3 of it in a box, I didn't even touch the other side dish! And I was full! In the past a meal out meant appetizers, a few drinks, salad, and dinner. And of course I would eat every bite, then maybe even desert. Following the band rules it took the same amount of time to eat the smaller portions as it took my husband to eat his whole meal. Being able to eat a reasonable portion and feeling satisfied is a NSV for me. I honestly don't remember the last time I experienced that before the band.

You did the right thing. It sounds like you have been pretty good friends for awhile and I think once the shock wears off she'll realize you were trying to help her. -

Oh my gosh this might sound horrible but that is hilarious! It really sounds like a scene that could be in a comedy movie -

1 month. I was self-pay, so the only requirement by my Dr was the psych eval and 2 week pre-op diet. -
What was the afternoon of your surgery like?
stephgfl replied to dolphintattoo's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You know your kids best and what they will and won't find traumatic. Also, if you decide to change your mind the afternoon of surgery you can always let your husband know at the time. My 6 year old understands that sometimes plans change. Personally, I had a lot of gas pain post-op. i underestimated gas pain before I experienced it first hand, it was extremely painful. Also my throat was very irritated from the tube and my voice was raspy. I don't how your kids would react if that happened to you.My c-section recovery was much easier. I did not see my daughter till the day after lap band surgery although I went home that day, she had a sleepover. I might sound like a mean mom but I did not feel like a game of 50 questions and that's exactly what it would've been with her. -

Good one Terry, I will definately be using it A couple other possibilities are gum disease or tonsil stones. The gum disease can smell absolutely rancid and can have other health implications. I don't know if tonsil stones is the right word but basically your tonsils can accumulate food debris, plaque, etc and obviously smell like something rotten. They can be easily removed. Even though its hard, you should tell her because she might have a health issue that needs to be addressed. -
