  1. So the I am 6 days post op and per my doctors orders I started taking a chewable Vitamin a few days ago. Each night almost immediately after I would eat it, I would get this sensation of feeling ill and would it would take about 30 minutes to go away. After the 3rd day I figured this was a small dumping session, but didn't know what it was from. So I checked the ingredients on my chewable multi-vit and the first ingredient is SUGAR. I am taking the Flintstones Complete chewable, but now I need to find another that does not have any sugar. Does anyone know of alternatives? My doctors specifics are it must be chewable, it cannot be a gummy and it must contain a full range of Vitamins and minerals. Thanks for you help!

    January Surgery Dates!

My surgery was rescheduled from Dec 22nd to Jan 26th. On day 3 of my 2 week pre-op diet! Fingers crossed all goes well!
  6. So I started my pre-op diet today. It consists of 2 Protein shakes, 1 meal with 4 oz of lean protein and 1 cup non starchy vegetables and a mid morning mid afternoon and bedtime protein snack. I really hope I can make it through this. I haven't received my approval yet from insurance, but they said I should hear this week. I started the diet anyway to ensure I got my full 2 weeks in before my surgery on December 22nd. Fingers crossed!
  7. I have the same situation going on, my last PCP visit is Dec 2nd with surgery scheduled for Dec 22nd. My Health Care Advocate at Anthem BCBS said that was causes most delays is missing information. Fingers crossed!

    Surgery Pals

My insurance requires 6 months doctor monitored diet, so I have been on for the last 4 months. Dec 2nd is my 6th app, so then it goes to my insurance for approval. Once approved I go on the 2 week diet before surgery. My health care advocate with my insurance ( who will review for pre authorization) is hopeful it will be approved quickly as long as nothing is missing.

    Surgery Pals

My surgery is scheduled to 12/22 , if everything goes as planned
  10. I am hoping for a years end surgery too. My 6 months will start July 23rd and my last will be the very beginning of december. I already have my Pre op scheduled for Oct that will cover all the required appointments. The coordinator at the center was great, as soon as my physician sends over the last appointment they will send everything to my insurance. Also I have a health care advocate with my insurance company that will oversee the approval so that I can have it approved as soon as possible. So hopefully, fingers crossed, we can make this work.
  11. So I am scheduled to meet with my PCP on 7/23 for my first of 6 required appointments. I spoke with the bariatric coordinator and we have my Pre Op scheduled for 10/21. We are trying to get my surgery scheduled for 12/17, so that we do not go into the new year. My question is this, do I just tell my PCP that I need to have my diet documented? The key thing is I need this to start in July for this to work. For those who have had their PCP document their required diet plan, how did it work? Any info is helpful, thanks!

    Pre-Op confusion

My insurance requires that I am on a 6 month medically supervised diet/ nutrition plan before I am eligable for surgery. Do I start my nutrition plan with my PCP first or do I consult with the Bariatric Program first and then they refer to the nutrionist? I ask this because I have to travel 500 miles for the procedure because my insurance also requires the the Blue Distinction center. Also can an OBGYN also monitor the diet, since I really don't have a PCP? Any help would be appreciated! Thank you

North Dakota ? need a buddy

I am in Billings MT and have to use a Blue Distinction Center for surgery. I am looking at using Sanford and would like to know how your experience was? Also I have a ton of questions and was wondering if they are super helpful over the phone? Any help is appreciated. Thanks!
  14. Hi everyone! I am new here and am looking into getting the band. Quite honestly I am not so sure where start. So any help would be wonderful! I am 286 5'3" Been overweight/obese my whole life. I have tried WW on my own (I couldn't afford the classes at the time) and while I have no problem eating healthy it's just that I always felt so starved. I have also tried many different diets and going to the gym but I would just gain anything back that I lost. I really want to make the lifestyle changes but I would love to have this tool to help me along the way. I haven't seen a doctor or called my insurance. What should I do first? Do I just see my PCP? I have BCBS Montana insurance through Wells Fargo, does anyone have any experience with getting approved through them? I have lots a questions but these are just a few, thank you in advance to anyone that helps!

    Where to start?

Sorry for all the questions! I just get so nervous calling places...I have no clue why! But when I call to set up an appointment with my PCP and they ask why, What exactly do I tell them? It's seems like a silly question I just never know what the right thing to say is!

    Where to start?

Thank you so much for your answers! Gives me a great place to start. I have a new question. Whats the most common process of getting an approval? Is it really hard?
