I Can Eat Just Fine, But Many See This As Odd? Please Explain
aviva1979 replied to tigers1998's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I've seen a few folks who end up in the Green Zone right outta surgery. If a few bites keeps you satisfied for 4 hours, maybe you are one of the lucky ones! -
Welcome! I have gotten tremendous value from this site and community of support.

Just stay with it. The weight will come off. I started a pre pre op diet 5 weeks before surgery and for the first 2 weeks the scale didn't budge. I was doing something similar to what you are doing now. Then in the 3rd week it dropped 5lbs. Then in 2 week pre op diet I was on I lost another 12. Sounds like you are doing all the right things for the plan you're on. The results will come!

How long does food/liquid stay in the pouch?
aviva1979 replied to aviva1979's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Thanks, Mis. Great article. So would pouch dilation then be a result of someone eating too much, too fast on a regular basis? -
Date set: July 11th - any other July banders?

How long does food/liquid stay in the pouch?

Thanks. I feel like we know each other now -
I've read lots of folks recommend fills with floro. My surgeon's practice only does the scan after surgery and if there is an issue. Should I be advocating for more frequent scans?

How long does food/liquid stay in the pouch?

So is the 'satisfied' feeling from eating slowly so a small amount of food takes a longer time passing the vagus nerve signaling a full feeling? -

Does Everyone Have Surgery
aviva1979 replied to seeme1954's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
Anyone take collagen supplements to help with skin elasticity? Do you think it helped? -
My doc told me given my age (33) he thought it likely I may have the band replace over the course of my lifetime. He didn't point to any specific research since little is available in the US for 20yr banders given how long it has been approved here - but that I should go in know it is possible I might need a replacement at some point down the road.

Haha. Apparently my iPhone would prefer I was writing about stoplights instead of stool -
Surgery this morning and feeling ok

I was banded 8 days ago and wish I'd taken a stoplight softener from the jump. Your body still has some refuse in the system that is gonna work it's way out - and b/c of the pain medications there is a chance it will be a while before your first BM. Even with all the liquids, my first BM was hard and dry as a stone and incredibly painful. A Phillips stool softened cured me and all BMs since have been normal. -

I'm expecting to feel my old nemesis, Hunger, until I'm in the green zone (and then will continue to be on the looking for Hunger's skanky sister - Head Hunger). I've made my peace with it. I need this to work. -

I find drinking water with some lemon juice in it helps. Jello helped a bit. I'm grateful that I found a broth that made me feel full. As with pre op diet, the more protein I got in the less hungry I felt over time. -

My appetite is starting to return. It's because the swelling in or stomachs is starting to go down and we are healing. Just stick with band sized portions of whatever phase diet you are in and if necessary eat a bit more frequently. I'm personally choosing to "white knuckle" it and if I'm hungry - well - isn't the first time and i will survive. I know I'm in the fastest time frame for loss that I will have and am trying to maximize it while getting all the nutrients my body needs to heal. -

It took me 4 days I think. And it was horrible. I highly recommend taking a stool softener if you're not already. Since then I've been fine and back to normal but that first one after all those pain meds was literally hard as rocks. -

Feeling stuffed 4 days out
aviva1979 replied to 7-15-13's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Your stomach is likely swollen from the procedure, and the burping from gas. Your appetite will return as you heal and the burping will eventually die down (be sure to sip slowly). -

I also tire of my vanilla and strawberry powders. Sadly I don't care for the choc ones. To make them more interesting I've been into smoothies. Strawberry powder with some diet lemonade blended with ice is diff enough that it feels like variety. And then you can get more elaborate from there. -
Mine came of by my 2nd shower with a soapy washcloth. I needed a little rubbing alcohol to get the residual adhesive off.
