Congrats on being banded. For healing it is impt to follow whatever post op diet your doc gave you. Have you had broth or hot tea? That has helped my hunger pains at times.

Sounds like "sliming". From what I've read on here from ppl reporting similar things it is food or liquid backing back up your esophagus. This happens from eating/drinking too fast or possibly getting something stuck. Your body makes this slimy mucus to try and move the stuff thru the stoma. Might be worth calling your doc it you are concerned/if it continues even if your eating and drinking is at a glacial pace. Hope u feel better soon!

Hi all- I am Sched for surgery on July 11th. I would love to find either an online mentor or someone in-person in the area. There is a local monthly support group in my town but it is overwhelmingly ppl exploring WLS and very few have had surgery. Anyone out there? Aviva

I tried a packet of unjury unflavored in iced tea and it was disgusting. Maybe that is just the wrong combo. I just bought a tub of Syntrex unflavored and I'm gonna try to mix it into soups n stuff.

Got a call from the surgical scheduler this morning, and my date is set for July 11th! I was hoping it might be sooner, but not surprised it worked out this way. Means I will be starting my liquid diet while I'm traveling for work - so that will be interesting. I'm also wrestling with not having our annual 4th of July BBQ at my house (which is in a prime location for watching fireworks) - maybe I'll just have ppl over for fireworks but avoid smelling burgers on the grill all day. Anyone else have a July date set? Wanna support each other through the next weeks?

I'm almost 2 weeks out and my hunger has def increased in the last few days, and I've stopped losing (tho cals in remain the same in a range btwn 650-900). From what I've read on here that seems similar to many others' experience. Good luck w the fill - let us know how it goes! I've got another cpl weeks before mine and I'm curious abt what it will be like.

Maybe some broth or hot tea? I found that when I felt physical hunger signs but just wasn't otherwise feeling like unwanted to eat that a hot drink helped. I make no promises abt the combo of hot tea going in while ice is on the belly tho. Your friend, Tapey, might get very confused abt the temperature difference

I'm not sure abt the tummy rumbles. Gas? Hunger? Mysterious loud tapeworm making a racket?

If it helps at all until tomorrow morning - an ice pack on the belly helped me sooth the itch. Good luck!

When I had my 1 week post op f/up appt we made the appt for my first fill. Banded July 11 and fill appt is Aug 7.

I asked my doc b/c the edges of my steri strips were getting ragged abt 4 days (and 2 showers) post surgery. He told me it was fine to remove them. I did for all but one that seemed stuck on there pretty good. I ended up seeing my doc 6 days post op and he removed the last one and said everything looked great. Advised me not to put any lotion or anything on them for another 5-6 weeks. Agree w/ others to check with your doc since all of our bodies are different.
