Mazel tov! Terrific accomplishment and it was very helpful to read your tips to newbies. -
Alcoholic Beverages...

Agree with the moderation advice. In addition to skinny girl drinks - tequila is also a lower calorie spirit. My nutritionist said to go incredibly slow - that a drink after banding may "hit" you a lot harder than before. -

Incredible! Way to go - you look fantastic! I get banded in 3 weeks and this was a great boost of inspiration. -
Hi all- this may be a silly question - but for those who use a food scale (esp to measure proteins) so you weigh before or after cooking? My mother just got me a scale as a pre-surgery gift and I've never used one before.

Thanks, everyone!

Best Protein Shakes
aviva1979 replied to fashionstylist's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Mixed my unjury vanilla with vanilla almond milk this morning and it was delish and very smooth. Got the best mix (no grainy bits) with this than just water or with skim milk. Next time I will buy unsweetened almond milk and see how that is - this combo was kinda high in sugar carbs. -
I'm in Greenfield and getting banded on 7/11.

Informative link - thank you!

Interesting. I've never heard of it - good luck. Exciting to have a "date twin" -

Feeling a wee bit discouraged with my pre-pre-op diet. It has been a week and a half of subbing in a protein shake for a meal and sometimes a snack, reducing calories to 1660/day (or under) and walking 3x/week (all while hitting at least 80g protein/day). I know these goals are more cals/less exercise than I will have post/band but was hoping to step myself in the direction I'm heading. And the scale hasn't budged. I suppose I haven't gained any weight which is a good thing, but I really thought I might get a little weight loss momentum happening as I moved into liquid diet stage. Ah well. Just needed a place to vent. -

Best Protein Shakes

I like vanilla the best so far. Didn't love the choc splendor and I messed up the chicken soup (Water too hot). strawberry might be a little too sweet for my taste buds. -

I'm finding logging with MFP has been really helpful - have used it daily for the last week and I am planning my meals better and stopping eating after dinner (and I'm a late night snacker) to stick within my intake goals. Thanks for everyone who has friended me on there! -

what's the deal with the gas/bloating?
aviva1979 posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I keep finding comments in posts with folks post-surgery having gas pains and painful bloating - what's causing this? is it a frequent occurrence? wondering if it's something i should add to my list of anxieties as i get ready for my surgery date -

yep - i bought a few tubs of the vanilla mix from unjury. I've been subbing 1-2 shakes in for a meal+snack for the last 5 days to try and get myself ready. i tried the chocolate splendor and didn't love it (thank goodness I just bought the sample pack) and last night a sample of the strawberry and chicken Soup arrived so i'll try those today/tomorrow. I didn't really try a bunch of brands - my nutritionist gave me an Unjury sample and it tasted fine so i just went with that. I have decided (at least with the vanilla) it's worth mixing it in skim milk vs just Water - and it really does help me stay feeling full for a few hours. i've also never been a lover of Breakfast (just one of my poor eating habits) and having a shake has helped a lot. -

In an effort to not lose my mind going onto the liquid diet while on a work trip (and then lose my job) i'm starting to swap in 1-2 protein shakes for a meal/snack now. working well so far. i'm definitely feeling fuller longer with the increased protein. my nutritionist wants me at 78g/day - which has really changed my eating habits. -
Where Are You in Your Weight Loss Journey?
aviva1979 replied to Alex Brecher's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I am Sched for July 11th to be banded. I started reducing calories 5 days ago and swapping in a Protein shake or two for meals to make the pre op liquid diet easier. I think I've lost a pound A premature post but was inspired by reading where folks are in their journeys! -
There is a 20lbs difference from my home digital scale and my surgeon's office (his is lower) - with my PCP and nutritionist's offices also being different but closer to my scale. I've been thinking it might be time to buy a new scale for home - glad I found this thread!
