I'm feeling good/proud. made it thru the holiday on pre-op diet and tackled it by not hosting a BBQ, and the only people I had over all know about my upcoming surgery and elected to eat before they came to my house to watch the fireworks (which are basically right off my front steps . it has helped that it's been so hot, i have less appetite anyhow - and i took all opportunities to play with my nephew and swing him around (he's 3) and be the one shlepping chairs about, etc. Kept me busy and moving. -

Hehehe. This makes me giggle for some reason. Tonight I blended a cup of ice, a cup of Hood low fat choc milk and a scoop of unjury vanilla powder and it was pretty tasty. The milk is high in sugar so I don't use it often. I bet it would also be good if I stuck a cup of it in tr freezer and made a frozen treat. -
I enjoyed The Heat! Despicable Me 2 is great for kids and not dullsville for parents. Much Ado About Nothing is lovely and fun if you dig that kinda thing. World War Z was decent, and This Is The End was the most I've laughed in a movie in years - but the humor is very taste-specific.

To me, mocha is like coffee/chocolate hybrid. Like if I mixed a spoonful of hot choc powder into a coffee. -

My PCP was very supportive, esp since she knows I've had some fertility challenges (haven't had my annual w gyno yet this year). I'm so glad she was since I needed her referral to see my surgeon back in Jan and then I needed her to submit a letter of medical necessity to my insurance co. I don't have any comorbidity issues but she and I were able to have a frank convo abt my hunch that was due to my age and if I was 20 yrs older I would be in rough shape. -

I'm getting into smoothies - blend my powder with a little water, ice, frozen spinach and frozen berries. That will solve the cold thing. Also if I am just shaking it up/hand mixing I sometimes serve it over ice in a fancy glass - makes it a lil more special I have yet to find a chocolate powder I like and I've tried a bunch. -

It has now been a full month where I have had at least 80g of protein/day - something I have never done before in my life. I'm not really a vegetarian - but I never had a craving for meat and wasn't consuming enough beans, etc to make up for it. I was lucky that my nutri gave me a sample packet of vanilla unjury and I liked it well enough. I use that and strawberry from Optimum Nutrition and I vary btwn the two at home and will try most pre made ones if I'm out and few have been so bad (to me) that I didn't just get it down. Consuming way more protein actually has me craving meat more. Excited for the day I can start having it again. -

I am hoping to be 250lbs or less by NYE - that will be roughly 50lbs. I am also REALLY HOPING to be in the green zone by then - and I'm committing to hitting 80g of protein per day and exercising AT LEAST 4x/week. Most of all - I want to feel happy and in control of my relationship with food! -

Anyone wanna make mid-year resolutions for what we aspire for by New Year's? -
I'm with u on thurs!!! And I totally agree w Mis73 (and all). I've noticed there are some especially positive ppl on the site an I often follow their threads and where they comment. This is too important to get dragged down - I've already got my own saddlebags for that

Great job - u look fantastic!

I LOVE going to the movies and it has been so hot lately that I've been to like 5 in the last week or so (no a/c at home). One time I brought 3 cups of plain air popped at home - which is listed as ok in my pre op diet but the rest of the time I have snuck in a bottle of water, baby carrots or a protein shake. Getting from the box office to the entrance (past the snack lines) is like running the gauntlet for me. For whatever reason I also find the previews the hardest part - I think it is the past ritual for me. That is when I'd eat most of the popcorn anyhow. So I also go in a little later so I can be swept right into the movie. I think finding a lo-cal lolly is a good idea - good job!

There is a Vietnamese pho place that I love so much but I'm wondering if they would just sell me a quart of broth to have on hand. My mom also just made me 2 gallons of chicken stock from chickens they raise and i find if I chop up some carrots and celery to add in while I heat it up there's enhanced flavor - then I just give those to my hubs if I've already eaten my .5 cup of veg for the day. -

Thanks, Sprinkle - we are all in this together! Deb - loving your updates on MFP - awesome job on the walk today! -
Like mrsintro says - the white knuckle approach .im feeling really good with the will power approach in pre op - and each day gives me more confidence about the days to come. You will get thru it. Drinking lots of water and trying to anticipate when the latent hunger becomes full on I NEED TO EAT NOW so you can have a protein shake before that transition moment has been helpful for me.

I would prefer if we steer clear of making assumptions about whether certain 'types' of people will or won't cheat. There are people (like myself) who start out morbidly obese and have not cheated. For me personally - I have too much riding on this to cheat, and in my own experience when I give myself an inch I end up taking a mile - so keeping to the particular program my nutri give me has been hard but well worth it. I am going into my surgery (on thurs) with a greater sense of confidence that I can do this and change my behavior for the rest of my life. -

Just bought two Goal dresses on sale at Target I believe I will fit by the end of the summer -
For sure follow what your doc and nutritionist tell you - just wanted to chime in that from mine (and from lots on this site) it seems you can eat pretty much anything from before banding... You just have to make smart choices about WHAT and HOW MUCH. Of course, this is all after the post-surgery diet concludes and you are back on real food.
