I would encourage you to call your doc and let him/her know the current pain management they have you on isn't working. The oxycodone I have is similar - it is acetomeniphan with a narcotic - just a diff one than codeine. -

Have had a few deep chest coughs with phlegm but otherwise the most painful thing is when I'm standing up or sitting down. If I m laying still or walking I'm mostly ok. There is also this interesting hiccup burp that hurts a little but afterwards I feel so much better. -

Like rbmk - high on tummy over incisions. Helps a lot. I haven't gotten gas pains in shoulder or back yet but hear a heating pad works there. Anytime my tummy starts to feel tight I walk a little and 90% of the time that leads to a burp. Was sitting upright lots today and holding boobs off incisions. Took a little nap. Have slept total 5-6 hrs in last 2 days. Starting to really feel that. Hopefully sleep the night thru to tonight in my own bed. Am able to sip iced isopure. Good luck ladies! -

Can't wait till I'm allowed a shower tomorrow. Iodine streaks all over my belly And adhesive from heart monitor patches. Also - as much as I asked my surgeon did not see the need for liquid painkillers are home. He gave me oxycodone pills. I got a pill crusher and the power in isopure is disgusting but I just swallowed a pill split into quarters and it went down fine. Happy to be in my own bed!! -
I don't have to - but I prefer to. I use myfitnesspal app and if you go to their full website on a computer you can print out your daily entries.

Sipping fruit punch isopure now. I don't mind it so long as it is cold. -

They were gonna make me until they saw I was up and walking and clearly fine (by their assessment anyhow). -
If you could tell your pre-surgery self one piece of advice, what would it be?
aviva1979 replied to GuyMontag's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I'd tell my former self to embrace protein. I had 80+g for the last month and before that I probably barely got 1/3 to 1/2 that for 33 years... And boy does it make such a difference. -

I read parts of that book. I liked it. -
Mine isn't yet but they just gave me a lozenge that helped. The inside of my lip is all really raw and swollen from where the breathing tube was taped. Think it was pressing my lip into my tooth. Ah well.

Can you see a nutritionist like from the approvl stage (if you had that pre op)? Maybe s/he can help figure out a way to reset and suggest a meal plan that allows you to breast feed, etc and get the best nutrients for you and your baby. -
Same here. I have reminders in Outlook to help me break up my day, eat, stretch. And found some great iPhone apps with quick exercises I can do in my office with a resistance band (all free - just search 'free exercise' in the App Store. Good luck!

Hahahaha. I am surprised how much I've been peeing in comparison w my intake, tho I'm also hooked to an IV. With the unjury be careful not to heat the Water past 140 degrees. I ignored that b/c I didn't want warm liquid, I wanted hot and it got totally funky and had to throw it away.

Asked my surgeon - he said there is just one standard size realize band and that is what I got. That there used to be a smaller and larger size and now they just use the larger. Also I have no fill to start with - had read some ppl get a small amt of fill in surgery. Just waiting in upper GI and then can get discharged. Ice pack on my belly is my new fave thing. Basically had it on for the last 16 hrs. -

My sister said she would dig up some kind of belly band she had from her pregnancy/post pregnancy and I might try that. -
I haven't had any coughing but I did have some broth that made me feel like my stomach was bloating and hurt a bit. Took a longer walk and that helped. Right now my incisions and a persistent headache are the pain sources but they are bearable. Of course the morphine helps

My nurse said it was fine so long as the band doesn't press on the incision. It is helping a ton.
