  1. Oh dear lord. I had my first BM today (5 days post op). I sooo regret not taking a stool softener from the jump. It was the most pain I've experienced yet as part of this. I will try to spare the worst parts but will say it took about 35 min and it was bloody. Everything was compacted it was like expelling dry, hard rocks. I can't promise stool softeners will help because I didn't use them but I'm damn sure buying some today.

    Day 1

I skipped the pain meds last night in favor of Tylenol PM and slept 9 hrs last night!
  3. Got in 88g of Protein today. 4 isopures and one unjury protein scoop in skim milk. Stomach continues to be swollen in lumpy ways. Maybe I will try the scale tomorrow. Don't wanna get discouraged with adema from surgery tho. I have a follow up with my surgeon in about a week (10 days post surg). I think I am also supposed to make one with my PCP. Started to feel hungry today. Looking fwd to puréed Soups and applesauce on thurs!
  4. I'm supposed to have 70+g protein and at least 64oz liquid (protein shakes count). Those goals are true for recovery time as well as just for the foreseeable future.

    Day 1

I'm pretty swollen too - tho it is now swollen in lumps around the incisions vs uniformly swollen.
  6. I've been in my own bed since being discharged on fri. It is kinda high which I find helps. I can get on:off the bed, couch, chairs, toilet by myself. Today is the first day I've felt hungry at all. My diet stipulates "full" liquids for 1 week. So far I've stayed on clears because they seemed more appealing o sip over long periods. I will try a shake tonight tho. My incision soreness remains my top pain. Gas hasn't been too bad. I have ice packs on me most of the time. I'm planning to work a half day tomorrow afternoon (work from home office). About to try a longer walk now... Wish me luck!

    10 days until surgery!

If you are large chested I recommend a sports bra. I have heard some docs rec against them but mine was fine with it so long as the band didn't press on any incisions. Without it, one of my breasts was pressing on an incision and causing lots of discomfort. The bra helped a lot.
  9. I have a little party every time I burp or fart these days.
  10. I walk a block or so several times a day.
  11. Yes on the pain meds/constipation. Not sure abt the lower gas pains
  12. U wanna keep liquids coming in tho - ward off dehydration. I sip all day long.
  13. My nutri said no more than a cup per meal. So 8oz. Means u have to drink all day to get enough liquid.
  14. Just catching up on today's posts. I agree - this site is such a support for me. I love it and am so happy to have each of you in my life. There is also a useful fb private group that @crayolaphoenix started that I'm in - msg her and she will add you. I use MFP all day and find it necessary for my own accountability. I know I'm already linked to some On here and welcome new friends! My name there is avivasrobinson. The shower today was great. Still have some iodine and adhesive gunk on my tummy but got lots of it off.my stomach is swollen in a lumpy way by each incision but I am sure that will heal in time. About to start my 3rd isopure of the day. Yesterday got 30g of protein in. Hoping to double that today.
  15. I not even sure which incision is the port. I know it is on my right side but I haven't gone probing for it yet. Hoping my husband can help me take a shower in a bit. I have iodine all over me and it is sticky and doesn't come off with a baby wipe.
  16. I also slept better last night and on my side. I was pretty uncomfortable when I woke tho. Pain pill had worn off and ice pack had melted. I am still sipping isopure. Might try a full liquid shake tomorrow. My stomach is still pretty swollen. Anyone else's?

    Gas pain

Walking has worked for me. I also heard someone doing a yoga pose almost like child's pose so your butt is highest point and that helped her. Would be careful of stomach in that pose tho. Good luck!

    just got my date

I like unjury vanilla powder (website only) or Optimum Nutrition strawberry powder and I think you can get that at. Vitamin shoppe or GNC or maybe even Walmart. Much less expensive to buy the powder and make yourself vs buying premade. Also, often less sugar.
