  1. Hello I am wanting to see if there's anyone here who has went to a psychological doctor that accepts Blue Cross and Blue Shield federal in the Atlanta area for the vertical sleeve gastrectomy? If so can you provide me with their names I'm currently having a hard time finding someone? Thank you
  2. Ok so I had a appointment with my Gynecologist today and I spoke with her regarding the VSG surgery and my reasoning for wanting to do it (PCOS, endometriosis, high cholesterol, Achilles tendonitis and to become more heathy and build endurance and breathing). She says she does not support the surgery and strongly suggest that I dont have It because its the easy way out. She stated that I would appreciate it more if I did it without surgery. I just feel like no one knows the struggle of a overweight person until you have been. I was hurt because she didnt support me for she has been my doctor for 8 years and has helped me through somethings. She said that shebhas patients that have the surgery and are unhappy after 3 or more years because they gain the weight back. What do you do when someone who is a medical professional tell you their negative views? How do you refrain from running scared? I believe this is the right decision for me and I believe that this is just a tool to help not a permanent fix. I just dont want to regret my decision. Can I have some opinions please , would be greatly appreciated.

    No support from Gynecologist!

Hi guys thanks for the responses and advice. I think she is wls ignorant. She is a small petite doctor and she doesnt understand why it would be beneficial because she never has to go through it. My pcp is very understanding although he doesnt like the methods. He is willing to help me through the process. I agree either way u loose you have the chance of gaining back. Its all up to the individual self as to what your success is with either way you choose to become healthy.

Thanks you guys im definately gonna get on that now. I only have to do the supervised diet for 3 months. I didnt know that after your approval there has to b three additional appointments. So what I am gonna do is take over my own destiny. Make things move myself. When I meet with my pcp I will discuss the letter at that time. I wanted my gyno to do it because I have been going to her for 8 years but she does not support mt decision nor does she support wls methods to aid in weightloss. Beautyandbeyond its ok girl you already knownyou have that approval.

Hi 2013newme thank you sooo much for replying! You were very helpful! I am a little puzzled about the process and I felt a few times that I probaly would have to push things through myself. I was shocked to see that tracy is no longer the program coordinator. So when I go back for my 2nd group nutrition visit I hope they are settled. I have two more nutritional visits left. Gotta do my psychological visit, have to get my letter of medical necessity and my 2 year weight history, then my insurance requires a nutritional assessment I believe.after that I will be done. I have federal bcbs. How long after your approval were u scheduled for surgery?

BCBS Federal APPROVED! I am shocked!

Hi congrats on your surgery date! I started the process back in august of 2012 but missed my november and december appointments due to a dwath in the family. Im starting back jan. 17th. Im worried because bcbs federal is asking for 2 years of documented obesity notes from my doctor. I dont even know if that is listed on my doctors notes whom is my gynecologist. Also they want a psychological evaluation and a letter of medical necessity. Im hoping to have my surgery by april. Do you have any advice?
  20. Thank you all for your advice! Each and everyone of you really helped me. I do understand that with thos weight I havw to loose that excess skin should be least of my worries but.....its still on my mind. Primarily because I dont look bad overweight. I actually love my curves and thickness but health is a huge concern so that ia why I am considering this surgery. My stretch marks right now are almost non existent and I exercise mostly cardio. If I get the surgery I will definately step up my weight training. I thank each of you for sharing your thoughts.
  21. Hi. I am considering having the VSG surgery. I am 30 years old I weigh 272 pounds and I'm looking to lose between 80 and 100 pounds with this surgery. Most of my weight is in my arms my thighs and my stomach . I am worried about having excess skin and droopy skin. This is really a big concern for me . At this point I'm going through the process and just getting more information to make up my mind as to whether this is a good decision for me. By reading all the posts on this website I have come to the conclusion that this maybe a good decision but I just have a couple of questions. Is there anyone out there who has already went through this process and through the surgery that can give me some information on whether or not you had excess skin left was it hard to get approved for the surgery and if you didn't have excess skin what did you do to minimize this? All input would be greatly appreciated thank you!
