Anyone here banded by dr. Hollis or in houston, texas area?

Ok so I am 6 weeks postop and 8 days past first fill and have done great stickin to the lifestyle change and have had great weight loss since my surgery but I woke up today and I can't stay focused at all and am snacking for the first time on things I shouldnt . I am so ashamed of my inability to control my

Splurging. I can't control my hunger and I am eating my protein and drinking my protein shakes so what do y'all do if you get hungry inbetween meals?

No but dr hollis is awesome. He is located next to south east memorial hospital in houston near beltway 8 and 45 south take astoria exit.

Starting weight 327 size 28/30 height 5'8" now I weigh 275 size 22 for a bit but size 20 in some.

Well they put 3ccs in my band 30 minutes ago. Glad its over. I had 4ccs day of surgery so I am 7ccs total in my 10cc band. I had some scare tissue and the only discomfort I had was when she had to dig a little thru that scar tissue to find the port. Ugh..I already feel the restriction but its probably from the swelling. I had a lot of bleeding when she pulled the needle. The needle was an 18 gauge needle and was 6" long in case anyone wanted to know the size and I layed flat on a table with my hands behind my head and I had to do a "mini crunch" to push my port to the surface for her to access it. I am sore now but can function as usual. My doctor has me on liquids for breakfast mushies for lunch and solids for supper today and that's it....have a great day to all....

I am really restricted but it might change after swelling goes down. I could only eat 1/4C veggies and 3Tsp of ground hamburger meat and I was full and it lasted 5 and 1/2 hours...I was shocked...hope it lasts...

Eperez, I also had 4ccs day of surgery. Do you find that the 1.2 helps control your appetite better now? My hunger has returned and I get my fill in 3 days thank goodness....I just don't know how much they will put in mine.

So, my husband is workin out of town and we visited him this weekend and can you believe that for the first time ever in my life, I only at 1 small plate of food at an "all you can eat buffet"?? This is HUGE for me cause I lived at all you can eat buffets...I took the name literally. I ate grilled chicken and mandarin oranges and spinach and salad but tiny portions. I got full and never felt the urge to get another plate. I didn't even know that the place my husband wanted us to meet him at was a buffet or else I might not have gone but I'm glad I ate there cause now I know I can eat anywhere and have self control thanks to my lap band. And I get my first fill in 3 days so I start my liquid diet tomorrow! Wish me luck!....

Ask your dr. Mine is wed and I am starting the recommended 3 day liquid diet in the morning. It is my first fill. Good luck

May sound crazy but I take long romaine lettuce leafs and anytime I want soft tacos, pizza, hamburger I just use the lettuce in place of the bread. I put hot pizza sauce that I added my pepperoni to and spread it on the leaf and then sprinkle shredded motz 2%cheese and it is fab...soft tacos are even better rolled in the leaf after addin the meat, sour cream, pico and guacamole...nothin like it!

I have been on regular foods for 2 days now and day one for brerakfast I had a soft scrambled egg, 2 pieces of bacon that is fully cooked "smoked" from your grocery store, pico de gio for the veggie and dole brand of unsweetened applesauce all arranged beautifully on my saucer. For lunch 3oz of chicken breast, green beans, pineapple tidbits in the little plastic containers. For supper I browned hamburger meat added a lowfat, low sodium taco mix and took long romaine leafs and made wraps with fatfree cheese, picante hot sauce, lowfat sour cream, and mandarin oranges on the side. For dessert/bedtime snack sugarfree klondike icecream bar...fabulous....

Well aside from nerves, my doctor said its called " the last supper syndrome". You know you should no longer eat those things while banded so we eat all the things we can before we are banded but not only does it make it harder to give up these bad habits but also too it keeps your liver enlarged due to the fatty liver syndrome most obese people have due to unhealthy eating. So do yourself a huge favor and don't feel like you are having something taken away from you...look at what you are gettn after your lapband surgery...your health, your happiness, and a whole new you cause you are worth it....so chew carrots instead of funyons....or go for a walk or clean when you feel the need to eat that unhealthy food one more time....if you need snacks make sure they are the prepackaged labeled 100 calories and keep a food log so you don't get carried away. Congrats! I too am a gun lover! I have been raised by 2 brothers and a father who loves huntin and fishin and I married a man who loves the outdoors as much as me. My username was based off my love I have for my Benelli shotgun and I am a huge fan of my Weatherby 257mag rifle that I shot my first deer with and my mouflon ram with 3 years ago and got my first tom turkey the following year while huntin with my 14y.o. son. We had a blast. I had the best birthday gift when my hubby bought me my first handgun after my class. I asked for a taurus tracker 44magnum. It packs a punch but it handles beautifully! It is an awesome hog gun too. I am so glad to hear other women enjoying firearms because its just as much as a womans thang as a mans but women have better hand eye coordination I believe! Haha everything is bigger in texas and so are all my guns verses my husbands guns and I beat him everytime in our ***** shoot tournaments. HA HA! LOVE IT!

I actually had 4ccs filled in my band the day of my surgery and even though I am 4 weeks postop I feel totally UNrestricted. I can drink tons of water without small sips and when I eat even though I haven't eaten any breads I don't have to take small bites, no gettn stuck and no vomiting or anything. I don't understand how I can eat so much and not get a real feelin of fullness that everyone speaks of. But my first scheduled fill is at the last week of january. I feel hungry all the time and feel like I don't even have a band in place. Its weird but hopfully after my fill I will finally feel restriction cause this 4ccs certainly isn't my green zone. I still only eat 3 meals a day with no snacking and doing everything by the book but the hunger is eatin me alive. Ugh! Haha

Congratulations. My first fill is scheduled jan 23rd. I am 4 weeks post op. Let me ask ya, before your first fill did you feel super hungry like your 3 meals a day didn't satisfy you and now the saline fill allows you to feel really satisfied after eatin your meals? If so how many hours go by before you are ready for your next meal? Thanks..

Ok so I am 3 weeks post op. I lost 30 pounds pre op and 21 pounds post op. week one I did protein shakes, broths, sugarfree pops,jellos, and sugarfree beverages. Week 2 same as week one but was able to add thin soups without chunks, now week 3 mushies like canned chicken and tuna in food processor with 1 tsp of light mayo, soft scrambled eggs, cooked veggies. I get to have solids on Thursday but I weigh once a week and this week I had a gain of 3 pounds. I was shocked...I only eat 3 times a day and drink all my water and I am not retaining any fluid and I am only consuming 400 to 700 calories a day. Did I gain cause I went from pure liquids to thicker foods now? Will I gain again when I go to solids? Has anyone else had this happen?

I had my surgery dec. 20th ...I was very excited. I am excited as well to recieve my fill too...

Yes these emotions are very normal. And after your surgery you might have them for awhile but they do go away. I had them too. I believe some days I actually went into morning over not being able to just sit down and "pigout". But that is the bad person being replaced with the new and improved person. That bad person tries to hang on for dear life. But since I am 3 weeks post op I don't have these feelings toward food any longer. I actually feel like I eat so I can live. I no longer live to eat. I prepare all my families meals and I have 2 kids under 14 and I can fix their favorites and it feels like I am a waitress in a cafe cause I am not emotionally connected to eating

Forgot to mention...at time of surgery I was filled with 4ccs. Don't know why. But, my first scheduled fill is jan. 23rd. Why does some patients get partial fills at surgery and others have to wait til swelling goes down?

I was banded on 12-20-12. Best feeling in my life. I feel in control of my food instead of it controlling me. Lost 30 pounds pre op and since lapband another 21 pounds down in 3 weeks for a 51 pound weight loss total. I can't believe it. I haven't been at my current weight since 10 years ago. Still have 100 pounds to go til goal. I had some soreness after surgery and got discharged same day. Walked 4 times a day everyday for 1 week and pain was gone. My inscisions are healed and will have little or no scars left. So happy for that. Have more energy but can't wait til solid foods next Thursday. Still on mooshies. My first fill is jan 23rd. I am so excited and I LOVE my BAND...

I am sorry to hear you feel like a loser but that is the farthest thing from the truth. People tend to forget that the healing phase is just that. The healing phase. Weight loss will follow naturally once your body heals. You know all our lives we have compared ourselves to every one in the media, magazines, models, movies or even close friends or family just wishing we could be just like them...so perfect...well my friend this is the one place you should come to and not compare yourself. It doesn't matter how much weight one person has lost over another weather preop or postop we are all on a journey together. Striving for healthy lives not to look like a model. You will do great at the pace your body will set for you and followed by your mind. Your determination will get you across the finish line. We didn't get this way over night and it will take us awhile to get the extra weight off so don't put yourself on a time limit. The lapband will allow you to lose UP to 2 pounds a week. That is a good result. Some weeks more some weeks less and some weeks will be the same. Make sure you take all your measurements for success off the scale as well. Good luck to you.
