I stuggled with my weight my whole adult life. I gained over 40 lbs the first year I was married. My husband is a fast eater and I thought I had to keep up with him. I did grow up with the clean your plate club and would have to sit at the table to finish the food I didn't like. So I was a good girl when I ate everything and didn't waist food. I tried lots of diets and was a faithful member of Weight Watcher for 7 years, working out 6 days a week and started to slowly gain. I would be so discusted after weighing in seeing the weight come back even though I was doing everything right. I gave up but still would work out until the arthritis in my knees finnally gave out. I looked into doing the Band but needed my knees replaced about 2 and 11/2 years ago. I am still recovering from the knee surgery with a side effect of now having back and hip pain when I stand or walk to long. Last summer I was praying about what to do with my weight and was willing to go back to Weight Watcher or anything but God kept giving me the scripture " Be still and know that I am God" so I was willing to wait and see what God had planed for me. A couple of months later i had my yearly physical and my DR said she was going to refer me for weightloss surgery. ( she knew how I stuggled and was very healthy inside) The hostpital's bariatric surgery center called just a day later and the first meeting was a day later. I got all the requirements done; Phych eval, complete cardio and all the other pre-op stuff done. I found out I have a good heart and am very cheerful and my bolld work is very good. I didn't tell anyone but my husband, but now that i have a surgery date I need to tell my adult daughters. Two are very supprtive but my oldest started to give me all the horror stories she heard. It was funny though, while she was going off on me my youngist daughter grabbed a friend who was standing near me who was banded. The lady hugged me and told me it was the best thing she ever did and she lost over 200 lbs. That helped me know God was with me in this. I was banded on 1/7/13 and am still learning about this process. I am so glad this support site is hear to answere my questions.
