  1. I slept on a recliner for about a week and 1/2. If you don't have one use lots of pillows to prop your head up. I had to do that during my knee replacement surgerys and couldn't sleep on my stomach/side. Good luck.

    First Fill.....

I had my first fill today also. My PA was going to but 4cc in my 10cc band but the water wasn't moving good so she reduced it to 3cc. Needles don't bother me, but seeing how long that needle was was a little disheartning. It bothered the people I told more than me. Good Luck on the next part of our journey.
  3. I'm having my first fill on Thursday. Good luck to you.

    Goodbye 300's!

I broke the 300s about 3 weeks ago, it does feel great. I keep looking forward to each 10lb line on scale.
  6. I went through it the first week , now I eat some yogurt about an hour before going to bed it helped in the morning.

    Protein shake !!

I like Premier Portien from Costco, it has 30 grms protein and only 5grms carbs and just 160 calories.

    Cereal

I'm glad to hear that, I really miss cereal. I was trying to avoid it, I'm starting to get tired of the same breakfasts.

    pureed food

I was aloud to have salmon, chicken and tuna salad, just mashed real good. I would pureed minestroni soup, bean and bacon soup too.

Starchy carbs and why we don't need them

I totally get it. After 4 weeks post-op I don't crave the starches anymore. I didn't realize how much I ate. Even though it was whole grains I would eat toast in the morning, a sandwich at lunch and pasta at dinner and wonder why I would crave a cookie later or between meals.

    Not the piano tune either.....

I've used my grandkid's babyspoon for yogurt , it really slows me down and I could savor the taste longer.

    Sick Today: nauseous

There is a stomach virus going around it usually last about a day. Do you have diarrea also. You may or may not have a fever with it. See how you feel in a day or two. sip on broth or tea and try a cracker to see how it stays down.
  14. The band is an answer to prayer for me also. last summer I was praying for guidance as to what program to use but all I would get Is"be still and Know that I am God" So I just waited to see what He was going to show me. Then in Aug. I had my regualr yearly physical and my DR. said she is going to referr be for WLS. With in a couple of days The hospital called and I went to the orintation and filled out all my forms. It seemed everything went so smoothly and my insurance cleared at first try. I was banded Jan7 and have lost 8 lbs plus the wieght I lost before surgery. May god bless your journey.
  15. I love peanut butter too. I use creamy on my fugi apples but have PB2 and put it in yogurt and in my protein drinks also sprinkle it on 1/2 sliced bannan. a real treat.

No drink before eating - why?

I was told no caffine or carbonated drinks either. The cafine can caroad the stomach and the carbonated drinks stretch the pouch.

    Question?

Take your temprature, you may be running a fever and if you do call you Dr. ASAP. otherwise try warm drinks even the protien drinks are good warm.

    Post Opt

Be careful with lifting and working out until your doctor clears you. You did have surgery and need to heal even though you feel good.
  20. I kept it quiet from everyone except my husband who fully supported me until I got a surgery date. I have 3 daughters in their 30's 2 are very supportive but my oldest flipped out at me. It's funny when I was telling 2 of them at a christmas tea at my youngest girls church, while my oldest was going off on all the horror stories my youngest daughter grabed a lady from her church who had the band and lost over 200 lbs. She hugged me during my oldest girl's rant and told me it was the best thing she ever done. It's so strange that my oldest would be upset about the band when she was doing some strange cleansing that took all metal good and bad out of her body and she was sick for months. Everyone else I told are very supportive and say they can see the differance in my face even after a little over 2 weeks. Good Luck My prayers for you.

    Dizzy spells

You may be having low blood sugar. Spred out the protien through out the day and try a little juice to see if it helps. I was having trouble in the mornings the first week so I had some yogurt an hour before bed and it helped sustain my blood sugar from dropping. Good Luck.

    preop jitters

I was suprised how easy the surgery went. Surgery at 7:30am and home by 10:45am. Compared to my total knee replacements this was a piece of cake. I still was neurvous about the dicsion if I made the right choice. But I'm glad I did it and am making the changes I need with the help of the band.

    Pain...

I was just banded a little over 2 weeks ago. The first 2 or 3 days only needed the pain meds and started to feel good about day 5/6. I had a hyadal hurnia repaired also. I still feel the larger cut a little when bending or leaning on my stomach.
  24. What do you order at restaruants? I went once and ordered chicken breast with fruit. It took me the whole time just to chew 1/3 of the chicken and a couple of bites of fruits with nothing to drink.
