you look amazing! Wow and that is only in 6weeks -
Hi everyone i have been coming on VST for a couple months now but have been researching VSG for about a year and finally i made the decision, finally got insurance(medicaid) so i'm doing all the test and lab work, so i can get the VSG and i have to wait to get Athem Health Keepers Plus in Feb and once i get that i should be able to sched my surgery in Feb(fingers crossed). I am just so ready for this journey to being. I feel so huge like a whale that i wont even take pictures. Today(Christmas) was so wonderful for the kids and i wanted to so badly to take pictures with them but i just did not want and have to place them a fb and have people see how fat i got. I mean WOW the woman i use to be is not even close to who i am(weight wise) and honestly its depressing I just want to lose this weight like right now. I know some others have to be going through this or atleast been through it. I really could use a picker upper. If you all can share some thought or story... HAPPY HOLIDAYS

I can't wait until the surgery day. I just did my preop bloodwork N ultrasound and upper GI as I was leaving from my exams I was thanking God that I'm getting closer to surgery :-)

I just came back from my upper GI exam and that nasty drink they give u its beyond disgusting. I mean ewww no chocolate flavor with a hint sugar. I secretly think they get a laugh out of see our face once we are drinking it. Then not to mention the fact that I have to live in the bathroom as this drink makes its way out(tmi) am I the only one that went through this, I can't imagine but I don't recall seeing a post about it...

Hi all im new here. I been lurking for a while and finally had the courage to type up whats been going on. So i was recently fired from my job and when i say recently i mean last week wed, im happy im not there any more because my job was beyond stressful, but it has happen at a very bad time. I was just in the process of my first consult with the doctor which is going to be nov 30th my insurance ends nov 16. I do have the option of Cobra and everything will continue like i didnt even lose my insurance. So whats the problem you ask? the cost... for me alone with medical is 537 a month, now with a one income home i'm just feeling so guilty. Do i feel that we can make the payments? Yes its doable but its such a stretch. So i wanted to get some honest feedback, especially from people who had the surgery. Should i do go ahead and take the chance and pay from the insurance, keep in mind i don't know if i will get approved from aetna(cobra coverage) running the risk of paying the premium and might not even get approved... But i could get approved which makes the cost of the payments each month worth it. Either way my husband supports me but i know he would be stretched out. I'm also looking into medicaid in VA because i heard they might cover it also but then again thats a might. Help me with your honest opinions, if you had to pay that amount for insurance to get your sleeve would you do it? Is it worth it?

From what i was told everything stays the same like you never lost insurance so if aetna approved you then your approved. I do have a question for you about the 2yr weight history that aetna requests. Does it matter if you were not as big 2yrs ago as now. For me i was always overweight but not a bmi 40, does that affect being approved??

I know this is a shot in the dark but maybe someone knows something different. Does anyone know of any individual/private insurance that will pay for weight loss surgery? Not medicaid/medicare. If you do please share Thanks in advance

I'm referring to insurance not through an employer. -

Needing Some Advice
daluvoflife replied to daluvoflife's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I thank you all so much for your wonderful insight. I def dont want to do Mexico because like you said if anything were to happen after who would i have to turn to. The way im looking at things i think its best for me to get the insurance and continue on my journey. Unfortunately my insurance requires 90days of diet so the most i can rush it wld still require atleast 90days plus the time it takes to get visits and test done. So i'm thinking 6months including any post op things. I really really thank you all for your opinions they have helped much in my decision -
I'm so happy for you, hope this is my post within the next 5months..Praying hard

I'm so happy for you, i have aetna too(well soon cobra) i'm going through the process now. Did you do the 3months diet? Is ur bmi 40? Did you have to show that your bmi has been 40 for 2 yrs or do they just need 2 years of weight history? I have so many questions lol... i'm so happy for you hearing all these approval from aetna makes me have hope
