well i had my surgery about 2 years ago and let me tell you i think it's the best decision i could had ever done in my life, i was also 230lbs and 5'2. i'm now 165lbs and off all meds. i was on high blood pressure med. and got off just a month after surgery, my weight loss has been slow but steady. i think you too would be happy once you get this done and get to your goal weight. gotta tell you it's not easy but if you put your mind and effort it's very effective. good luck to both and god blees you!

wow! you need to vomit it out, you will feel so much better once you get it out. trust me i been banded since march 2007 and to this day still have those awfull scenes. you need to eat slow and take very small bites and chew alot before you swallow it. good luck, hope you feel better!!!

well good luck to both of you! need to eat very slowwwww when the time for solid comes as it doesn't feel very good when you get stuck! it really hurts a lot, i have been banded for 1 1/2 years and still get that awfull pain. it feels as if you were having a heart attack or chest pain. so please try and take little bites and eat very slow. take care and congratulations on your band!!!

thughes113, i have been banded for over a year now and still get that stuck feeling, the only way i feel any relief is by vomiting it out. i know it's not what you wanted to hear but it sure makes you feel a lot better. at least it does me! good luck and hope you feel alot better.

actually that's exactly how the band feels, i had my surgery 1 1/2 year ago and still to this day i feel the need to burp constanly. the sloulder pain is gas but that will go away in about a week. good luck with the band and welcome to the band family!!!

hi rachel, i had my surgery with dr. spivak last month march 13, 2007. i'm really happy with the results i've been getting, lost 16 lbs so far. he really is the best! my starting weight was 230 and i'm on 214. also i'm only 5'2. hope to have help some with your decision.

i paid $12,900.00. i was self pay also. and it covered everything besides 1 year of fills and no pre-op testing. had my surgery march 13, 2007 with dr. spivak in houston, texas. and very happy i did already can see the results, more energy lost 13lbs in 2 weeks. good luck!

well i had my surgery on march 13, 2007 so i'm about two and half weeks post op, and had lost 12 lbs. feeling better now, finally got rid of all my gas pain. supposed to call and schedule my first fill in two weeks. my doctor was great, dr.hadar spivak houston, tx.

bluetatto, i had my surgery tuesday, march 13, 2007 and did mine self pay cause the insurance did not cover obesity surgery. besides they told me that even if it did it would take a while before everything is clear for surgery. but i'm glad i'm starting to see results i've alreday lost 5lbs in a week. let's hope everything goes well for you to. good luck, kaybritt

berry, i also suffer from gas pain, i had my surgery tuesday, march 13, 2007 and still have a little gas pain. for about a week a had really bad pain, but it starting to finally go away as my swelling goes down. this is normal from what i hear. so just chew on some gas x and try to move around or go for a walk, it has helped me lot's.

i had my surgery tuesday, march 13, 2007 and went in at 7:30am and was out at home at 4:30pm the same day. lost 5lbs the first week. still having a little problem with gas. have another 95lbs. to loose. can't wait till i'm 130lbs again. it seems like it will be forever.

sassy, i waited till after i ended my cicle and then i scheduled my surgery. didn't want to have all that stuff while in pain. i had my surgey on tuesday, march 13. have lost 5lbs in a week, feeling pretty good now. so good luck to you! take care, kaybritt

well congratulations on your weight loss so far, i just got banded last tuesday, march 13 and found out last night that i lost 5lbs. it's really motivating to finally see some results. hope to keep the good work, kaybritt

hi everyone, i also was banded on tuesday march 13, and went to the dr. group support meeting last night (monday) and found out i lost 5lbs. i was really excited i really didn't think i lost any yet since i'm still bloated from the gas from surgery. but that really motivates me even more. thanks a lot for dr.spivak's changing my life around. my weight was 230 on the day of surgery, looking forward to loosing 100pds. well congratulations to all that been banded and loosing all that weight. hope to meet my goal soon. take care, kaybritt
