    Doctor in Pittsburgh, PA?

Hi Sunmaid- I haven't had my consultation yet, so I'm not sure of the answers. I should know after April 30th. I thought Lap Band surgery took apx 1 hr. I HOPE we don't need a catheter! I believe it's a 1 night stay in the hosp. How did you get the reviews of surgeons? I couldn't find that!! Keep in touch and best of luck with your search to find a doctor! Sandy;)

    Doctor in Pittsburgh, PA?

Hi Sunmaid- I'm from Pgh also! I haven't had the surgery yet but have a consultation with Dr. Anita Courcoulas in a few weeks. She is in a practice at UPMC and they operate at Magee and Shadyside. I've asked several people who had the surgery with her and heard all positive comments about Dr. C. I'll find out for myself pretty soon! Best of luck and keep in touch~ :biggrin1: Sandy

    A few days post-op....

Hi LORIPA- So glad to see your thread. I'm from Pgh also and have my consultation with Dr. Courcoulas in April. I'm really excited but nervous too. Like you I've had many years of dieting and considering WLS. So here it goes, I'm really doing something this time! I'm glad to hear you're doing so well. I look forward to reading about your progress. Does Dr. Courcoulas have a lot of experience with Lap Bands? Sounds like you were very happy with her. So far there's a lot of good feedback. Hopefully talk to you again soon~

    I'm a newbie with questions :)

I appreciate the info and web site, badonkadonkbutt (this name cracked me up!!) I'll check out the web site you suggested. Best of luck to you!
  10. Hi everyone! I'm new to this site. I'm at the very beginning of my journey and have been researching the different surgeries for about a year. I've had weight problems for my entire adult life. I've tried every diet known to man. Of course none worked long term. I think the lap band is the safest and hopefully it'll be the best choice for me. My consultation is not until April 30th so I continue to get as much info as I can. I would really appreciate it if someone could answer a few questions: - Does anyone out there have experience with Dr. Anita Paula Courcoulas from the Univ. Pgh. Med. Center? (Pittsburgh, PA) - Do fills hurt? -Can you feel the port since it's close to the surface of the skin (or is it??) -Does it ever make you squeamish knowing all that tubing is in there? Sorry for the dumb questions, but I'm trying to figure out some things before my consultation. I sure hope this all works out. Thanks in advance for the information. This web site has taught me more than all the internet sites I've been on put together! You guys are great.
