The fill took less than a minute. Even injecting into the port now tucked behind the abdominal muscle was seemingly no big deal. I drank a cup of Water and have since had Soup and am now having coffee. So...liquid is going down fine. Dr. said to see how I feel over the next few days and to come in for another fill if I don't feel satiety.

The two week liquid diet weight fluctuations
gowalking replied to aries477's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Stay off the scale @aries477. Weight can fluctuate from not just day to day, but at different times of the same day. This liquid diet is not about weight loss, it's about shrinking the liver. And just a heads up....when you are back on food again...even mushy food, some of that weight loss will likely turn into gains until you are on a steady calorie count. Good luck...all of us who were on liquid diets know how hard this part of the process was. We're here to support you. -
Here's what you do @Tesa70. Gather information. Read about all types of surgeries and see if any of them 'speak' to you. See what the doctor says about why he is recommending the band and then take that into account. If you are not ready for a more invasive procedure, then wait. If you feel that surgery can help you, explore that option. As an FYI, I got info on the lapband and waited more than a year till I was ready to get it done. I'm almost three years post surgery and I can say this was the best thing I've done for myself ever. I got my health and my life back. Good luck to you.

3 cc's in. I'm fine..especially as the doctor said I can have coffee and wine. She laughed when I asked and said as long as it's liquids, no restrictions on the types of liquids. Hoping this is enough of a fill. If not, I have to go back for more.

FYI...Dr. Ren is my surgeon as well.

Getting my first fill on Friday after nearly three years banded. It can't come soon enough. I seem to be able to make good choices one day and then the next, I'm not. I went back for a handful of pretzels three...no...four times last night. I couldn't stop myself. So for punishment, I got on the scale this morning and saw that I was above 125. I swore I'd never put the weight back on but it's now more than 12 pounds from my lowest. I'm learning such a good lesson over this struggle to keep the weight off. I will always have the disease of obesity. I may have it under control at times, but I'll never be free of it. If my band isn't working, I'm going to put the weight back on. Simple as that. I've seen plenty of people post about running into trouble at some point but stupidly felt that I would somehow be immune as my head is/was so in the game. It's hard to admit I'm not Superwoman and I struggle like everyone else when my tool is not working the way it should. If I ever find myself having to remove the band, I won't hesitate to revise the surgery to another procedure. I won't fool myself into thinking I'm doing this on my own because I'm not. I told my sister on Sunday that I am gaining weight back because I need a fill. She is obese and I'm hoping she comes to the realization that WLS might help her as well. She has maintained that my success is about what's in my head, and not around my stomach and that I lost all that weight because I was in the right frame of mind. I'm hoping this shows her that it's not my will power alone that helped me but a combination of making good choices, along with a tool to tamp down the hunger so I could make those good choices. So...today is a new day and again I make the pledge to make the right choices. Here's hoping I can stick to it.

Getting banded on 12/17/15!
gowalking replied to jiggyiggy120's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Welcome @jiggyiggy120. We're a smaller group than some of the other WLS folk, but we're here to help and support. Good luck and let us know how it goes. You may have seen this already but I'll post it again so you can see what getting a band can do. -
Thank you sweetie!

I'm craving some corn beef turnip and cabbage!
gowalking replied to sarahbethemails's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
Oh well...that's different. LOL. I can tell you that my experience has been that as the weight dropped, I went from dreaming of food to dreaming of a new wardrobe. I even have several pocketbooks to go with my outfits..same for shoes and fashion jewelry. I feel like a life sized Barbie doll sometimes. Not that I have her measurements obviously, but I am having a great time dressing myself up after so many years just hoping to find clothes that fit. -
Fill is this coming Friday Lisa. Still wide open..lol.

gowalking replied to sarahbethemails's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
Sarah....just because some posters can eat certain foods, doesn't mean you will tolerate those same foods. Please make sure this early in the process, to check with your surgeon and nutritionist before trying any of the foods you want to eat. -
Very runny oatmeal was one of my first mushy foods. But like I said...it had to be pretty watery early on.

sashimi is probably fine but think twice about the seaweed salad. It's chewy and might not be the best choice only a month out.

Welcome to online dating. Just remember...it's not you...it's them.

this is a great list James. it should be pinned so folks can refer to it regularly. should we ask Alex to do this or can a user do it?

I knew there was a good reason we got along so well. My friends are smart people.

gowalking replied to Bandista's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Happy Anniversary to you Happy Anniversary to you Happy Anniversary my dear band friend..... Happy Anniversary to youuuuu!! -
Thanks for all your comments friends. I was just feeling frustrated. I'm struggling to stay on track. I even have an appointment for a fill for next week. I work s hard at doing what I should...and to hear of someone just ignoring an opportunity...well...like I said...I'm on a rant.

OK friends...I'm getting a fill next Friday. I know this sounds silly but I feel a little like a failure for needing a fill after all this time. I'll get over it...just wanted you all to know what's going on in this dopey head of mine.

Hi Jim! Glad to see you again. Glad things are good.

I have two pictures I keep in my office that were taken at our holiday office party. One was taken before I had WLS and the other was taken last year. I keep these pictures somewhat hidden as they are for me more than anyone else. I look at them all the time to remind myself of where I started and where I am now. I'm smiling in both of the pictures but one of them is of a person happy with her accomplishments and the other is someone who was struggling daily with her situation and co-morbidities. I can't even begin to explain how I feel when I see those two pictures though I'm sure many of you understand exactly how I feel. Sorta like our birthday girl.

With all due respect, I agree with Dub. If you don't know what you should or should not be eating, bother the shit out of the NUT. It's what he/she is there for. If you do have a list of approved foods, follow it and don't focus on what you may or may not be able to eat down the road. Like all of us, you'll have to figure out through trial and error what and what doesn't work for you. More importantly, focus on non food things. Think about the type of exercise you want to participate in. Think about increasing said exercise over the next few days/weeks, months. Focus on the kind of clothes you want to get into once you start to get smaller. Think about why you got the surgery... I've been banded for almost three years and food is important to me..but my life no longer revolves around it. Never in my life have I said as often as I do now, 'I don't care' when asked what or where I wanted to eat. I'm not saying I don't love food..of course I do. But when you follow the rules and only eat a small portion of it, what kind of food it is doesn't matter so much. Good luck and keep on posting and asking questions.
