I was going to tell you same as Gary. I've been to many many ballgames and know that they do not want you to bring your own food/drinks into the stadium. You may have to explain as Gary did why you are bringing your own food/drinks. He is also correct in that there is likely nothing in the park that you can purchase that would fit the criteria for pureed foods. It might be worth it for you to contact the ballpark to get feedback on how they will deal with your need to bring your own meals and drinks to the game so you have no issues once you get there.

sometimes non support is fear. for those who are important to you, have them come to a doctor's appointment with you or if that isn't feasable, have them go to a seminar so they understand the process better. you might find more support after they have more understanding of how it works. congrats on starting this journey to a healthier you.

when is your surgery? the preop diet is pretty severe for many...all liquids or very little actual foods. you should not do just liquids for too long. if you are just trying to eat healthy and smaller meals, then by all means go ahead and do so to give yourself a step up. my advice is to not change too dramatically especially as you have not been banded yet otherwise you will get really hungry, cheat, and then feel bad about it. that's not the way you want to start your journey. good luck! -
6 months post op: PROGRESS PICS
gowalking replied to KeeSh32's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Spectacular. What a difference...kudos to you on your success! -
I try to stay between 1,000 and 1,150 calories a day. Breakfast is often oatmeal or cream of wheat w/ pat of butter. Or a slice of toast with a slice of cheese on top and then broiled in the toaster-oven (sort of like an open face grilled cheese sandwich) I have scrambled eggs once a week....cold Cereal (like rice Krispies) with skim milk once a week as well. lunch is almost always a half a tuna sandwich or hummus with a lo cal whole wheat wrap dinner is always 3 oz. Protein, 1/2 cup veggies, 1/4 cup carbs. I also have a snack or two...SF pops or SF pudding, or fruit. I've been doing this since I was allowed on regular food and I've dropped 75 lbs. in a little less than 7 months including the pre-op diet. Hope that helps you some.

yeah....unfortunately, you're just hungry right now. Hopefully once you are on mushies, it will get better.

Waiting and wondering
gowalking replied to IveyinKY's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Being out of town for the whole month of October might be tricky in terms of food progression (liquids, mushies, solids), follow ups with the surgeon, possible band issues, even fills. While I'm sure you would prefer to be banded sooner than later, it might behoove you to wait till after you are back home. -
Banded July 25/13 in Tijuana
gowalking replied to Heddy100's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Glad to hear your experience has been good so far. As someone who has been banded nearly 7 months, there's one thing you noted that I have to clarify for you. You say your excited that 1 1/2 cups of food will fill you up. That's actually not correct. There is no such thing as being full...at least not as we who are overweight understand full. For us, full means stuffed and you no longer do that once banded. The goal is to eat to satiety...or to eat until you are no longer hunger. That's not the same as being full. It takes time to figure out what 'not hungry' is but once you do, it's like having the keys to the kingdom. When you can stop before eating everything on your plate, or when your brain says, OK, I had enough, you start to think like thin people do. It's truly a wonderful thing and makes me feel empowered and in control. Good luck to you on your weight loss journey. -
I don't think it's the drinks butterfly...you were likely swollen right after surgery and the swelling has gone down. That's why you are hungry and can drink easier. By all means go get the Boost shakes if you think that will help but just know that this is the time when you just have to 'man up' and use will power till you get satiety from the fills.

What happens when....
gowalking replied to ChloeHouston's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi Chloe. Call the doctor's office on Monday to see if they can figure out why you are having issues. You shouldn't have problems keeping food from coming back up unless you are too tight or you are eating too fast, or taking bites that are too large. They will help you to figure out what the problem is and then you will likely do fine. I won't say anything about how you feel because you feel how you feel and that's not right or wrong..it's just how you feel and it's very understandable regardless of your age. I just hope the doctor can help you so you can find success with the band. Good luck!. -
thanks for posting those pics Kirsten. It helps alot to see boobies that look just like mine and know that I can get them 'fixed'.

I smoked for 30 years Redhead and really really enjoyed smoking so I know how hard it is to quit. I took Wellbutrin for smoking cessation....it's an antidepressant but in higher doses, it helps to stop the craving to smoke. Amazingly it worked like a charm and I was able to stop within a few weeks. I've been a non-smoker for 7 years now. Good luck!

I was banded on January 14th and including the preop diet, I'm down 75 lbs. with 45 to go. I'm sure Dr. Ren can recommend a good plastic surgeon...they probably get patients asking all the time for a referral.

Rec'd devastating news and all I want to do is eat.
gowalking replied to donna12's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
So very sorry about your brother Donna. Missy's post says it all. Gaining weight after all your hard won losses won't help you deal any better with this terrible turn of events and will just put you in a worse position. Giving you a virtual hug and please know that your family is in my thoughts... -
Question about Hospital Stay
gowalking replied to dlamp112's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Most people go home the same day. I stayed overnight because I have mobility issues and they wanted to make sure I could walk and to give me the blood thinner shots. I don't know too many folks who stayed two nights but I would presume it was because of complications or difficulties during surgery. -
oh funny....I stare at my collarbones all the time because I haven't seen them in so long. and yes...the 'girls' will disappear on you. Mine have deflated like popped balloons. PS, I also used Dr. Ren and I am very pleased with her as my surgeon and with her follow up as well..

Sometimes what you think is nonsupport is really worry, or concern, or even in your MIL's case, she may feel that she shouldn't interfere. As other posters have said, find a support group, use us as your support, speak to your doctor, and make sure you are ready to go through with this. Good luck with whatever decision you make.

It took me a while to realize I had another NSV yesterday. I got home from work and had some free time before dinner (because I wasn't starving hooray!) and made a spur of the moment decision to go to the nail salon and get a manicure. I haven't had one in years....I felt it was like putting 'lipstick on a pig'. I was so fat and ugly, why bother polishing my nails. Well...I'm not so fat anymore and don't feel so unworthy. So...I'm now typing with pretty mauve nails.... Can't thank you enough lapband.

my head is killing my progress*
gowalking replied to Binx125's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
weight and measure your food and when you are done, you are done. walk away from the plate, the kitchen, whatever you need to do. just because you can eat it doesn't mean you should. -
alot of us had hernias repaired but it didn't really impact, at least for me, the time I took off of work. FYI, I was off for a week though I was online at home part time on day 3 post op and then worked full time from home for a week before returning to the office.

Hi Sol. Sorry you are going through this. I was on Biaxin when I nearly had pneumonia several years ago. I do hope it helps and you do not need any further intervention.

Feeling a bit down:(
gowalking replied to utkscvol1's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Can't help you with the nausea but your comment about feeling like you should have lost more weight is ridiculous. You are 42 days postop and down 23 lbs. Do you not realize that is a great weight loss? that averages to a half pound a day more or less. The experts say if you lose between 1-2 lbs. a week, you are doing well. For gosh sakes, stop putting so much pressure on yourself. Your weight loss is going gangbusters so feel good about it, don't feel down. -
Hi ollie...here's your motivation...if you do not stick to the preop diet, you might wake up in the hospital the day of surgery and find out you were not banded. If your liver doesn't shrink enough, the surgeon will not place the band. I'm sure you would be unhappy beyond belief to have to do it all over again because you were not able to follow the preop diet. I know I found this to be a great motivator while I was on the horrible preop diet. Also...remember that you are on liquids for a time post op as well. At some point you will be hungry after surgery and will have to wait to eat so this is a good time to resolve yourself to following pre and post op directions. Good luck and get back on track.

Wonderful. You're on your way and I'm sure you'll do great.
