Can we get a unlike button?
teacher208 replied to m1aman's topic in Website Assistance & Suggestions
This may be ignorant, but I have to ask after reading this.... What is the points system? Is it a popularity thing, like high school? I too only use LBT on my phone, so this is news to me. -
Anyone else losing weight very slowly or not at all like me?
teacher208 replied to Harrier's Woman's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I know it's difficult because you're working really hard, but did you ever lose that amount of weight in such a short time before the band? Don't get discouraged!! You're doing great! -
Finally banded yesterday
teacher208 replied to dani_nyc's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes! Gas pain was the worst. Try ice and ibuprophen if your doc allowed it. My doc told me to walk 10 minutes every hour I was awake to move the gas, and it helped. I was also sore around my incisions for about a month. I was banded in May, and have no regrets, though! -
This isn't really fitness related, but my port hurts even in jeans! It's right above my belly button and about four inches to the left. My doc said the can move it for me when I'm at goal and place it under the muscle. (I've lost 70, and have about 25 to go!) I guess it's just under the fat and stuff right now...

Happy But Disappointed
teacher208 replied to jerseyguy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I lost a large amount of weight at first as well, and didn't get or need a full until about month three. I've only had three fills and I think I'm in my green zone. You don't want a fill if you don't need one because it can cause you complications. Congratulations on your weight loss!!! -
@B52 Where do you get the protien and other supplements you take in the mornings? I'm a fairly new bandster, May 29 of last year.

How do you get My Fitness Pal to track carbs? I have the free version...do I need to upgrade my app?
-
Can I ask you guys a question? I think I'm a little too full right now, because I feel a lot of discomfort when I eat small amounts. Very gassy, but restricted too. I have my next appointment on 1/31. I'm kind on the fence... My question is, did your bands slip from vomiting? Even as uncomfortable as I am, I'm not vomiting or pb'ing.

Why people and studies are so negative about lapband

All of my pre op info is completely different t then the info in this link, I was told you eat, it goes to the pouch and gives you a full feeling and should then take 4-6 hrs to then feel hungry again, And the hospital/ surgeon are supposedly top in the nation out here near Chicago .....l, so now I'm totally lost based on info you guys have here in the forums...... Makes no sense, I can choke and puke on a bite size piece of chicken but I can eat a bag of Doritos without blinking. And no choking My Dr. Is Dr. Simpson from the link provided. I don't know of this will help you at all, but he specifically tells patients NOT to eat dry foods. They do cause choking. For example, he told me I should never eat at Paradise Bakery because the chicken is dried out and soaked in sauce. Now, I was only banded in May, but I'm down 62 pounds, and I've never vomited. Not once. I wish you the best, and I hope you find peace. -
Love this idea for salad for lunch. The possibilities are endless!

One more question too... Do you weigh the vegetables as you put them into the jar for portion control? -

What kind of dressing do you put in the jar? I love this idea! Thank you for sharing it! -
Silly question, I'm pretty new...what does it mean when people refer to pbing?

I had my third fill today, and I have a bruise the size of my palm that you can feel a bump under (not the port). A friend who is an ICU nurse said it's a small hematoma, and told me to seek care if it gets larger or harder. I emailed my surgeon already, but has this happened to anyone else ever? I'm pretty scared right now.
-
Thanks for everyone's replies! It helps to know other people went through the same thing. I think I just got a huge bruise with a lump underneath, but it didn't grow today so all is well! On a positive note, I was hardly hungry today at all, and a few bites satisfied me when I ate, so I think my fill was successful!

Getting First Fill in 2 Days!!! SCARED!!
teacher208 replied to NJMommy2Four's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I'm usually lying down and can't see the needle. i don't know if that helps, but I hope so. It's just a bit worse than a shot, and worth it. Good luck to you! -
I've had my band since 5/29/12. I notice significant pain after I wear jeans, to the point that it wakes me up at night. It doesn't seem like the waistband is right at my port, but I'm thinking combined with poor posture it is. Has anyone else noticed or experienced this? Thank you!

I want to cry. :(
teacher208 replied to Stephleupagus's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I remember crying about foods I would miss a few days after I had my band in, and wondering what I had done to myself. That was 60 pounds and 7 months ago. You're going to be great!
