How much fill did you get when your ban was placed?
can_do replied to JennaSoto's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Nothing at the time of placement. -

You'll find lots of friends here, encouraging support and great advice from veterans. Welcome! -
I get my protein on this website. mydietshopz.com Their hot chocolate and cold fruit drinks are great. The orange flavor reminds me of Tang. The hot chocolate comes in mint, amaretto etc.

Great job! For sure you should be celebrating. We should all celebrate each and every day on this journey.

BCBS~ Anyone have any idea how long BCBS takes to approve process....
can_do replied to ggm's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I have experience with BCBS in NJ. It was a fast process. Approval was less than a week and from my first doctor visit until surgery was about 5 weeks. -
I never consumed more than 500 calories my entire first week post-op. Don't worry about it. Just stay hydrated.

Good for you! -
You're doing great. I had no appetite to speak of for the first month! I wish it would have stayed that way.

Is this the typical beginning?
can_do replied to *~NewBeginnings2013~*'s topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm also a nurse and had feelings just like you are having. I was miserable for many days and had great difficulty getting in the "required" fluids immediately post-op. I promise it will get better. Each day you'll make a little more progress. Get all the rest you can get and just concentrate on sipping fluids as often as possible. You can do this! -
The shoulder pain you feel is referred pain. It comes from irritation of the phrenic nerve which runs along your diaphragm. During laparoscopic surgery, that nerve is stretched and irritated by the CO2 gas the surgeon inflates your abdomen with to be able to work in there. It will eventually subside. I found a heating pad helped greatly. My shoulder pain lasted at least 10 or more days.

Pudding was on my full liquids list.

Congrats on your success so far. Eat the meatballs....not the pasta. -
I think you answered your own question. Eat smaller portions.

For me, it was over in 10 seconds and I felt one minimal skin prick. Liquids for 24 hours, then a day of mushies, then on to regular food.

I was banded 7 weeks ago. I had my first fill (3cc in a 14cc band) 1 week ago. I had no restriction before the fill and still have none. My next appointment is in 3 weeks. Should I wait this amount of time or see if I can get in sooner for another fill? Do I need to give it more time? I have lost 25 pounds, but that is sheer willpower. I'd like to hear from the veterans. Thanks.

I FINALLY understand "bandsters hell!"
can_do replied to koolkel's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I. also, am in Bandster Hell. Banded on 2/4/2013. Had my first fill a week ago. Have no restriction and the will power is waning. I'm going to do a week of protein shakes this week. I'm stuck at the same weight for 2 weeks. -
Thanks for the input.
