I absolutely love my job! I teach Family and Consumer Science, formerly known as Home Ec. It's great! I have several cooking classes and use the opportunity to try to teach the kids about eating heathy. They do on occasion want to cook things that's aren't as healthy. It can be so tempting!! I do have to taste what they cook to make sure it turned out correctly. I guess it's a hazard that I can live with!

I teach at a rural school and the majority of the kids are low income. We are one of the few schools in our area that has this program and I think the kids are better off for it. I have kids 8-12 grades.

Checking in at 201. Goal was 198. Barely missed it. Looking forward to Feb.

I agree that they need more programs in schools. I teach classes on relationships, child development, career orientation, parenting, money management, basic sewing, nutrition, and cooking. All of the things that people need to know as an adult. The majority of these kids don't learn it at home. I'm very glad that my school has it.

Yes they changed the name to Family and Consumer Science in 1993 and FHA to FCCLA in 1999.

It could be your weight loss, or not enough protein. I have a thyroid condition and being cold all the time is a indicator of hypothyroidism. People do tend to overlook it but its good to get checked out. It's a simple blood test. I know when my levels are out of whack when I stay cold and have no energy.

after a week I fell off the wagon of the pre-op diet

Keep telling yourself that you can do it. I have days that I am starving and days that I have to make myself eat because I am not hungry at all. Don't be too hard on yourself. It's a lifestyle change and doesn't happen overnight. -
is anyone else freezing in the pre-op stage?

I have a thyroid condition so I stay cold all the time. That's always a good thing to get checked out. -

I have the same issue. In some way, I think I sabotage myself when I get too close to the 190s even though I want to get down to 150. I have been overweight so long that I still have that mentality and subconsciously I am nervous about loosing. I'm working through it though. -
The shoulder pain is from the gas they use during surgery. It gets stuck in the shoulder area. Move around more and it will help. Good luck!

Take your current weight and divide it in half and that is the amount of water in oz that you should drink in a day. If you don't drink enough, your body will conserve water and retain it.

Down 4 lbs this week!! 3 more lbs to lose to meet my Jan goal!!

I definitely think that my headache and nausea was due to the virus that has been going around our community. I feel great now.
-
I had a fill yesterday and I have had a headache ever since. It could be because I haven't had caffeine in a few days. I usually drink iced tea. Also, I've felt a little nauseated but I don't know if that is from the fill or because there is a stomach virus going around. My youngest daughter was sick last week with it. Just wanted to see if anyone has had any nausea after a fill.

I had my first fill in two years today. I was at a 5.5 in 10 cc band. The dr gave me .5 today and I could feel it instantly. I am hoping this extra restriction will help me on my way to those last 50 lbs. It did sting a little bit but not bad.

I have fed bcbs as well. I had to meet the bmi requirements, meet with a dietician just once, and that's about it. I did all the pre op tests and the pre op diet 2 weeks before surgery. My first appt with the surgeon was the first part of March and my surgery was the end of April. That was in 2010 so they may have made so changes since then.

I am going for a fill on Monday. I haven't had a fill in since Nov 2010. I was banded in Apr 2010. Been on a plateau for last 6 months. I know I need a fill but I feel frustrated that I haven't been able to lose on my own. Hoping the fill will help. I still need to lose around 50 lbs. Just needed to vent.
-
Thanks for the encouragement. I guess I need to look at how far I've come instead of how far I still have to go. I have lost 70lbs and that is an accomplishment in itself. I can finish the rest of this journey!

Stayed the same this week. Frustrating...

I think you will have some loose skin if you lose a large amount of weight, but the skin is elastic so if you loose slowly and tone muscle as you lose, it won't be as bad. Slow loss is the key.

hardest bandster rule to follow for me..
sbox replied to gldngrrl's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I have to agree with the no drinking rule. I haven't been sticking to that one like I should and just now had an Aha! Moment that this could be the reason I'm not loosing like I should. -
I have wondered the same thing. The human body is pretty amazing and can adapt to pretty much anything. I am scheduled for a fill in 1 week and I am looking forward to it. I hope it will get me over this plateau.

Down 2 lbs this week. Hoping for more next week. Scheduled for a fill on Jan 21

She is great! I used to watch her show on the Food Network. Great ideas to make common foods healthier. I would watch and think, "why didn't I think of that!"
