How long ago did you have your sleeve? unfortunatley WLS isn't a permanent fix and weight does come back after a while (or so my surgeon says) if not balanced correctly. Another factor which I was told contributes to it is age. -

Mine took about 1.5hrs (I think, i can't exactly remember) BUT that being said the Dr booked the theater for 3 hours as I was his first ever Omega Loop patient. At my last visit he told me he is doing on others now too which is great!! Apparently it's all the rage in Europe and has fantastic results (inline with RNY and Sleeve) -

Thank you guys so much for your replies! @@loving.life it's really helpful to have that in mind. @@pancake1271 I will try to follow some of you on MyFitnessPal (if I can figure out what i'm doing ) @@DLCoggin I always appreciate your posts/ replies and like reading what you have to say. I only hope I can get the the 'eyeballing' stage. Everyone seems so confident and 'content'... I feel like I'm the only one questioning the WLS decision... -

Hi, What is an omega loop pass and who is your surgeon in Perth? Did you have much success with the sleeve? Simply put an Omega Loop Gastric Bypass (also known as a 'mini' gastric bypass) is a cross between a sleeve and RNY... it's not quite as agressive with the malabsorbtion but does incorportate some. Also its virtually completely reversable... I can't answer the other two parts of your questions lol sorry! -
Hi guys... I'm just over 6 weeks out and have lost about 16kg since surgery and about 27kg since October 2013 This may sound like an odd request but do any of you have prepared meal plans that you could please maybe share? I'm stuck as to how I'm meant to be structuring my day and what I should be eating (I'm on normal foods but have been told I'm not eating enough some I barely reach 200-500cals I think, and to make it worse I've stalled/ plateaued at around 100kg for the past week or 2)... The hunger is there I just try to ignore it or have liquids, but today I gave in and had 2 oat Cookies, some grapes, and a few rice crackers! I feel guilty... Which is silly I know. Any help or guidance would be appreciated. I think I'm having hard time mentally adjusting to this way of eating... I'm hoping a regimen or plan will help me. I can feel my eating disorders returning mainly in the form of restriction... The scales are evil. I wish I never bought them... I'm thinking of destroying them "by accident"... It's a mental roller coaster and I've been a major bi*ch to those around me. I haven't been able to see a therapist yet as apparently the paperwork isn't ready...? Weird Anyway sorry for the crazy post. I just wanted some meal plans please? Phil

I'm thinking I've stalled... I wasn't overly huge before surgery and my bmi is edging closer to overweight /normal... Maybe I should be expecting to slow down with weightloss.... But I didn't think it would be so soon after surgery I'm only guessing.. I could be wrong lol

Cool. My bypass is going well I'm still adjusting and learning. I think the revision will be good as it combines some malabsorbtion. Will you get your sleeve reduce in size again? Phil -

pancake thank you for the link. I've tried my fitnesspal but again it doesn't really help if I don't know what's in it.... The last two days haven't been very good food wise. I think I over ate over the Easter weekend! I'm stressing lol -

Nick that's absolutely fantastic work! Down all those pounds in 4 Months! -
That's brilliant 45kg in a few months! Congratulations. What I'm most impressed about is the amount of control you have over fine tuning your weight. Good work!
-
That's fantastic! Do you mind me asking how much you lost? What was your starting and goal weights?... 11 months out... What I would give to be at this stage of the journey! I can honestly say that I'm not enjoying it one bit! At least not yet... What was your meal plan for the normal. Foods stage? Sorry I'm dragging this thread out I'm just trying to get my head around it all... Phil
-
That's a massive difference.... Bringing up Protein again, I was told 60g (ish - as it was a rough guide given to me when I asked) which is a huge difference to the 75-90g/day I've seen others talk about... Curious... Where you told you are allowed to have diet flattened pop drinks? Because I was given the ok for these...?

Sorry I should have said a cup of some foods (not all/many) other things I can only have 1/4-1/2 cup. Or can't tolerate them at all. As for the vitamins. I was told to take one mini Multivitamin a day. It's so gross! Sometimes I forgo it all together because of the horrid taste but I try my best to take it everyday. Phil

Thanks so much James. I'm on soft/ normal foods and can easily have maybe 3/4 of a cup... But as I said I'm having food/ anxiety issues. I went to dinner tonight with a friend and although I probably only had a cup of food (a few spoons of rice as well as some Ho fun) I am worried I ate too much. Granted I was feeling quite full/ tight but that only fueled the anxiety. I hate eating with others (especially those unaware of my surgery) but got caught in the situation unexpectedly... Hmmm Gah! Sorry for the randomness/ranting/venting...
-
Hi James, Yep I am in Australia. I did receive a book but it doesn't seem as detailed as what you're describing. I'll go through the information I have been given again and see if I can draw some useful meaning from it. I guess what I'm after is a set structure and a plan that's tells me what to eat and when. Phil

I'll check out ur site soon as well... It's just I'm about to fall asleep! So will do it tomorrow

Hi James I skimmed through the document and it's fantastic! Well done on taking the time and effort to put it together. Especially to help others! I will be honest tho. I'm worried with the Soups that I will be consuming too much... Liquids go down and sit really easily for me... For example I can down almost 1.5L of Fluid (not Water as it still hurts my stomach) I'm half an hour (with some effort)... This might not be the best thing to do but it's the only way I feel I can get enough in during the day! On another note... I'm not actually sure of how much my stomach can now hold... Is there a test for this? And if so... Are liquids the best indicator as they seem to just pass through the system? I wonder tho if low calorie soups are the best option for me... Any other meal plans out there that involve solids?

Hi Nick, Congratulations on getting the Surgery! It's amazing you are on soft foods only after 6 days! Don't get discouraged I was told that there can be quite a bit of Water weight after surgery so give it time. Also don't forget to try and get your Protein in as well as fluids. Good luck and stay positive Phil -
Tips from success stories
phil2912 replied to chefkelly's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Thanks for the pointers guys! Shmily I had my surgery in Australia and DLCoggin I went to my gp today and told him I don't have a goal. He said that with the constant reviews from the Dietician that I will be told to stop. But because it was only my gp I couldn't get into details like I would with the surgeon because he isn't overly involved with his input. I will go over the papers I got and try to come up. With a plan. Otherwise I will ask my Dietician to make one... Only problem it costs like an additional $120. Mainly what I think I'm. Expecting is a set structure that tells me to eat this or that at a particular time. But again thank you guys all so much! -

Just a quick question and this may sound silly... BUT what if you don't have a plan (or weren't given one for example...)? I mean sure, I was told to have Protein (they were vague on details. I think I was told 60g per day), loads of Water, and a Multivitamin... But that's about it! I haven't been told about the amount of carbs, fats, calories, or a specific meal plan to stick to... It's a bit perplexing when you haven't got something to guide you... Sooo to add to the original request on gaining tips. I'd like to ask, where did you 'plan' come from? Phil -
Sorry for the late reply! I had mine just over a month ago (4th March 2014) and have already been upgraded to soft food! Basically normal food if I'm careful. Apparently according to the dr and Dietician my swelling and healing have been super quick! It's a process to go through but I think it's worth it!
