Jessica9190 got a reaction from Miss Mac in 4 Wks Post Op Miserable
Can't we all just get along?
Just kidding
But really I wasn't offended by you asking if the complications are real. Sometimes the complication stories can be so horrific they seem unbelievable but they do happen and the people that have them are kind enough to stick around and post what's happening to help others
I don't think you meant your question offensive but someone who nearly lost their life may feel attacked and go in the defense.

Jessica9190 got a reaction from oldoneyoungagain in What made you chose RNY rather than sleeve?
I spent three months preparing for the sleeve. After surgery was scheduled I changed my mind for several reasons
1. I have bad acid reflux and sleeve can make worse
2. Only short term data on sleeve
3. Bypass is gold standard for WLS
4. I felt I needed more than just the restriction
5. I never could get comfortable with part of my stomach being trashed.
6. I prayed about it and feel God lead me to get RNY vs sleeve
Those are just some of my reasons but ultimately it's up to you. Talk with your doctor and do what's best for you personally.

Jessica9190 got a reaction from mrsb12 in Not getting enough Protein
I'm right there with you but I've been trying to force myself. No Protein can lead to hair loss tooth decay and muscle loss to the point you can barely stand. Protein is very important.
I'm sure there are many more side effects but those were enough for me. I'm sick to death of those shakes but trying. I have found some Greek yogurt that has 13 grams of protein for 5 oz so I've been eating a lot of that.
Good luck to both of you.

Jessica9190 got a reaction from Kurstin in Teddy grams
I'm very proud for you. I agree we have to learn to live like normal healthy weight people. Everyone is different. I am like you. I don't want to live so strict that one day I totally blow and eat everything. So I will allow myself a treat now and then. If you're "treat" is something with less that 8g of sugar, you are most likely still making a better choice than before!!!
Some people need to live by rules and NEVER indulge and that's ok. I respect their way of doing it as well.
Every person is different and every doctor is different. I have learned not to be judgmental after spending so much time being judged for being fat.
You are doing awesome!!! I hope to be as successful as you.

Jessica9190 got a reaction from twinRN in Sleeve or By Pass?
I spent three months preparing for the sleeve. After surgery was scheduled I changed my mind for several reasons 1. I have bad acid reflux and sleeve can make worse 2. Only short term data on sleeve 3. Bypass is gold standard for WLS 4. I felt I needed more than just the restriction 5. I never could get comfortable with part of my stomach being trashed. 6. I wanted the faster weight loss 7. Sleeve has higher chance of leaks due to longer staple line and that was scary to me. 8. I prayed about it and feel God lead me to get RNY vs sleeve Those are just some of my reasons but ultimately it's up to you. Talk with your doctor and do what's best for you personally.

Jessica9190 got a reaction from Cyn in Scars
Merderma is an ointment/lotion you put on any scar/stretch marks and it reduces their appearance or prevents them. I used it religiously while pregnant with my first son and had no stretch marks. I was too busy with my second son to do it everyday and now my tummy is a roadmap. It does help.

Jessica9190 got a reaction from monken in Going out to eat!
My nutritionist told me that liquids go basically straight through your pouch so I can drink up until the point I start to eat. After I eat I have to wait 30 minutes for a drink for the same reasons everyone listed here.
One time I ate an egg that I had salted and peppered a little too much so I thought I'd just take a sip. It hurt so badly. I have learned I can't eat and drink at the same time or it's painful. I guess that's a good thing for me. It keeps me from cheating. Lol

Jessica9190 got a reaction from Alexandra39 in Pizza!
There is some kind of crust less pizza where cheese is the crust but I don't know the recipe. Maybe someone else will reply because I'd like to have it too. I miss my pizza.

Jessica9190 got a reaction from changingme in how long after the surgery does it take Weightloss?
A big motivator for me are the horror stories of complications people have because they didn't follow doctor's orders. Michele is right the risk is DEATH!!! Death is final and it's definitely not worth pizza. I feel your pain. I LOVE pizza and lived on it before surgery. Now I'm not eating it not only because it's an unhealthy choice but also because my doctor told me how it could tear a hole in my pouch and the consequences are deadly. I don't think surgery was a mistake for you but perhaps you weren't ready mentally. That doesn't mean all hope is lost. Read some self help books about eating, see a counselor, pray about it and come on this site for support. We are all going through it with you and will tell you the truth even when it hurts because we want you to succeed and live a longer happier life. God bless you. I will be praying for you. We can all get through this together.

Jessica9190 got a reaction from nienie in 60g protein in 12 oz!
Couldn't you drink 1/2 the shake and the other half later?
I would love to be able to drink 6 ounces in the morning and then 6 ounces in the afternoon and know my protein was done for the day.

Jessica9190 got a reaction from nienie in 60g protein in 12 oz!
I'm not but that's because I can't eat food yet. I had a stricture and back to basics
