I think if the protein is high and the carbs are low it is good. The only thing is it's usually not on the list of ok foods until about 6-8 weeks out. Chew chew chew

3 weeks out & STARVING
Jessica9190 replied to Jessica9190's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I thought something was wrong with me. I was two days shy of 4 weeks post op before my left side quit hurting. I just woke up that morning and the pain was gone. I was starting to feel like a wimp bc everyone else seems fine after a week but I finally figured out I can't compare myself to others. I was hurting and they weren't but it didn't matter about everyone else. It mattered that I was hurting. I took pain meds at night only for over 3 weeks and I needed it. Some people don't I'm happy for them but I needed it. Good luck to you. I hope the pain subsides soon. -
Off meds and WIDE AWAKE
Jessica9190 replied to agirlofaith's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had the same issue. I took Benadryl for like 3 days after I got off pain meds just to help me sleep then I quit that. Now I sleep fine at night. -
Maybe it's not how much but what. Potatoes are full of carbs and although on our list at first long term shouldn't be eaten often. You're Protein should be your biggest portion not your potatoes. Just a thought. Focus on high protein foods.

Prayrs - Upper GI

Praying for you Amy. -
I spent three months preparing for the sleeve. After surgery was scheduled I changed my mind for several reasons 1. I have bad acid reflux and sleeve can make worse 2. Only short term data on sleeve 3. Bypass is gold standard for WLS 4. I felt I needed more than just the restriction 5. I never could get comfortable with part of my stomach being trashed. 6. I wanted the faster weight loss 7. Sleeve has higher chance of leaks due to longer staple line and that was scary to me. 8. I prayed about it and feel God lead me to get RNY vs sleeve Those are just some of my reasons but ultimately it's up to you. Talk with your doctor and do what's best for you personally.

Surgery tomorrow. Should I get magnesium citrate?
Jessica9190 replied to groovykg's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I don't think it has anything to do with the gas. I would definitely do it if you feel constipated. You will not want to be straining after surgery. Be ready though it works. -
Bored not boed lol lol lol

I'm in hospital because I had a stricture. My doctor wanted to keep me one more day because I live so far. I am so thankful to have a wonderful and cautious doctor and great insurance. And I'm so thankful they are fixing my problem. But I'm bored to death and really ready to go home.

STRICTURE? Please help me
Jessica9190 replied to Jessica9190's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I wasn't throwing up constantly but that's probably because I wasn't eating. I was dehydrated and low on vitamins especially potassium but getting all that through IV now. Hopefully by tomorrow all will be good. -

Jessica9190 replied to Jessica9190's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It was a stricture. It was nearly closed up. I'm glad I called my surgeon. Thanks for the advice and support. My throat was funky so they ended up having to intubate me and knock me all the way out instead of just the IV meds but I should get better soon. He said it was pretty bad and unfortunately will probably have to be repeated but at least I know what the problem was. God is good!!! -

STRICTURE? Please help me
Jessica9190 replied to Jessica9190's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Ok thanks everyone. I ate for the first time. It was only like half an egg and it took forever to eat it because it hurt in my chest after each bite, felt like a truck sitting on it. I just waited it out. It hurt but not absolutely unbearable like the other day. So does that mean I just need to work at it and eventually it will get easier? -

Lol. I haven't a clue what scope and dilate means but doctor said something like stretch it so I'm assuming it means that.
