Surgery Before Or After Holidays
Jessica9190 posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I can have my surgery as early as early December. Do you think that would be ok or better to wait until after holidays? I thought it would be good before the holidays because my husband is off some during that time and the kids would be out of school. I don't really give a hoot about all the food (well except the Desserts lol) I just don't want to be in pain and can't enjoy Christmas and new year with my family. What do you think? I posted this in the Post Op forum because I thought that would be the people who would know best, but if it needs to be moved ok. -

Surgery Before Or After Holidays
Jessica9190 replied to Jessica9190's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks everyone for your input. I was really just super worried about not being able to enjoy the holidays because I'd be in pain or uncomfortable. I think I am going to shoot for the earliest date possible. Get it done and start my new life!!! -

Faith Matters! Or Faith Matters?
Jessica9190 replied to LizTex2587's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I believe like the op. I believe in God and He has been my source of strength through many trials in my life. I will tell anyone about my faith but I will not shove it in anyone's face or try to shun them for not having my same beliefs. The God I believe in gives everyone free will and the right to believe in what you want. And thanks to being an American we have the right to voice and write our opinions!!! Tex-in reference to your actual question God and my faith in Him and the importance of his will for my life is a big part of my decision. I am not having surgery until December so I have a couple more months to pray about it to feel certain this is the right path for me. So FAITH MATTERS!! To me anyway -

Why Don't I Just Tell People I Had Sleeve Surgery
Jessica9190 replied to The Big Dog's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
@tapsnap Do u think misery loves company? Maybe the heavier ones you r telling r critical because if you lose weight you won't be one of "them" anymore. Maybe it's just simple jealousy. -

Men: Telling "the Guys" About Your Surgery
Jessica9190 replied to OneManWolfpack's topic in The Guys’ Room
I totally get it. My husband has the same kind of friends. My husband has gained quite a bit of weight since we got married and it's only been a year and some of the stuff his friends say I think it's just rude but he says "we're guys that's how we talk to each other". He's been completely supportive about me having surgery but one day I asked him if its something he'd ever consider (I wasn't pushing him to do it just wanted his thought) anyway he said, "hell no!" Probably for the same kinds of issues he would have to deal with Like "he's less of a man" bla bla bla. Anyway I'm sure you were wanting guys' opinions so ill shut up now. -
I think it's because a lot of us women work with other women and women can be so jealous and competitive over everything. I think men are better at saying "what are you doing? You look more in shape?" Maybe I'm wrong but just my opinion

Anyone Not Tell Family Or Friends?
Jessica9190 replied to max206's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
This is exactly how I feel. I haven't had surgery yet Still jumping through insurance hoops and can't have it until December. I have only told my husband mom and one friend. My question is how do you handle answering someone who asks what your doing when they ask in front if the few ppl who know. Like if people ask when I'm with my mom and I answer dr supervised diet low carb high Protein ect. Is my mom or friend that knows going to be thinking "she had surgery!! She's a liar?" -
My Teenage Daughter Is Jealous
Jessica9190 replied to jennrus's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I know how she feels. I wasn't a teenager but my whole family has always been overweight. Even with a bmi close to 40 I was always the smallest. 6 years ago my mom had bypass and lost 150 lbs. she would make comments the closer she hot to my weight that hurt my feelings. Looking back u know they were just goals she was achieving but her goals were my failures. My advice is to never compare yourself to her. Or say things like "I do it like this ". I always thought my mom could do it because she gad surgery and I didn't. Is it possible your daughter could also have the surgery? -

I'm in northeast Texas close to Longview or Texarkana. I'm two hours from Dallas or Shreveport LA. I have consulted with Dr George Merriman in Shreveport. I can't decide if I like him or not. Anyone use him?

I Hate It When People Misuse "literally"!
Jessica9190 replied to GeauxForIt's topic in Rants & Raves
I hate it when people say "Febuary" and they mean February or "libary" and they mean library or "mines" instead of mine. I have a friend that constantly says "I have did it" and I can't help but correct her every time but I don't think she cares. -

Freaking Out Surgery Is Saturday! Soooooo Nervous..
Jessica9190 replied to jentheyo's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Oh wow I feel you. I'm 3 months out and Already nervous about what I will eat. I don't like lettuce tomato pepper onion mayo mustarad any salad dressing and many other things. I usually live on meat and junk food like pizza fries burgers hot dogs. No wonder I'm obese!! When I've done diets in the past I've basically lived on grilled chicken and broccoli. I always gain it back probably because way to restrictive. I am super nervous. -
I might be the only person that struggles with guilt but I've been thinking about this. I've only just had my first NUT visit sao im just getting started, but I haven't told anyone I'm even considering it except my husband and one really close friend who is also considering it. I've already decided to only tell my mom and dad before surgery (which I'm nervous bout becAuse they'll think I shouldn't. My mom had bypass but she was much heavier than I am). Anyway sorry to ramble but i am nervous about who to tell at work because i have to tell my boss something and after the surgery I am nervous about ppl asking. I would like to say I'm on a very strict dr supervised diet and leave it at that but I will feel guilty like I am lying. Technically it wouldn't be a lie but still deceiving. Anyone struggle with guilt like that or am I being my usual over analytical self?

Robotic Sleeve? Anyone
Jessica9190 replied to 052407's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Is that the same as laparoscopic? I assume it is because laparoscopic is with 6 tiny incisions. I thought that was the norm????? My dr has a website with videos and they all show with the small incisions vs cutting u open. My mom had gastric bypass this way. She said bc of that they blow u up to see. She had bad gas. Anyone experience that? -

Hi I will be 32 Thursday 5'7" 236 lbs Married for year and half Two kids (boys 9&10) I'm currently on 3 month diet required by ins. It sounds dumb but during this 3 month diet I really need to maintain because insurance won't cover if I don't. However I am looking for encouragement because I get impatient and discouraged. I would love to support someone else.
