    Congratulations Teresa!!

I'm blushing. I saw my name and thought that can't possibly be for me... Thanks folks, you are all so sweet. I am sure it is because I started off heavier than all of you. My body just wants to catch up to the rest of you. Honestly, I use fitday like a fiend, follow the no Water after meals rule, try to eat healthier in general- especially in regards to taking in solid Protein. Sometimes a meal isn't anything BUT a piece of steak or chicken. Other times I'll add a vegetable. On rare occassions I do allow bits of bread products and every night I make sure I have enough calories available to have a single regular size candy bar. That is my one flaw but if it keeps me motivated then??? I try to average around 1200-1400 calories a day. Ussually it is closer to the lower number but it seems that one or two days a week it will sneak up closer to the higher numbers too. I just keep doing the same thing week after week, and ALWAYS dread the weigh in days (tomorrow). I just know sooner or later I am going to have that dreaded plateau. I still feel restriction and can actually feel the point that everyone is always describing (the pre-golf ball feeling). I know at that point that I must stop and take a break and let everything settle or I will PB. I have gotten much better about the PB's too. I don't think I have had one in at least a few weeks now. Anyway thanks for all the kind words, it really made my day. Teresa
  4. Hi Cindy, Welcome, welcome, welcome. So glad you could come and join us. Keep coming back for visits. I also started out with a high BMI (62) and was banded 5/8/04 in Mexico. I am down 46 lbs as of last week. Like you, I ONLY weigh on the doctors scales weekly. Seems more ligit. I am 30 years old and live in Oregon. Best wishes to you, Teresa

    Decision time!!

Try Inamed, the makers of the band. They have all the statistical data from the three year trials. I got banded in Tijuana May 8, 2004 and am down 46 lbs as of last week. I track my calories and follow the rules. The band makes it a lot easier in my view. Suddenly I can follow all of the advice I was given in diet groups without it feeling like torture at all. Erosion is about the worst thing that can happen aside from any surgical complications and even erosion is fairly minor in the perspective of life and death events. My doctor told me the surgery should only take about 30 minutes, mine was 90 minutes because the doctor had to clear away a lot of tissue from around the band location site. I was back on my feet really quickly. Best wishes with whatever you decide. Teresa:)

Good Luck!!! I think it is a great idea. My boss at the B&B has hired them in the past and I think it really helped her get a clearer vision of what she should be working on. Teresa

When my sister and I were hormonal teenagers we used to make peanut butter cookies in the shape of penis's. My mom would come in, get all appalled and chop the balls off. LOL. We used to think it was sooooo much fun! Your cake weenies reminded my of our nut cookies. Teresa

    Hello All

Lisa, fight fire with fire. You should make up a bunch of different terrible tasting things and follow him around for a few day asking: Honey will you please try this for flavor. Just do a bunch of odd different things and don't let up. If you need help thinking of odd things just let us know. LOL.. My husband is one of those who follows me around asking: What is there to eat? What's for dinner? etc. I don't know which is worst. Hubby can go in and stare into the fridge for about 10 minutes and not be able to find anything. He will come in and tell me THERE IS NOTHING TOO EAT... I want to clobber him when he does this. I suddenly have to stop what I am doing and list all the available things in our kitchen for him to eat. I WISH he were more independant in the kitchen. God forbid if he does try to cook something, there will be a good mess left behind. My husband seems to learn things in halves: he will take out the trash but forget to put a new liner in, wash the dishes but has never put them away, cook but not clean up, you get the picture. LOL... It is hysterical. Oh, I know it could be worst. All in all he is really sweet and loves me a lot (he voluteered to work the last two saturday evenings for free so he could get us free tickets to the Fiddler on the Roof performance tonight) but it is funny watching his quircks too. And by the way, I don't know how he got the idea that I WANTED to go to Fiddler on the Roof. Teresa

Posted: Mon Nov 18, 2002 5:54 am Post subject: I named my weight loss Obie City, and you....? -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- When I belonged to Weight Watchers, some of us decided to "name" our weight loss because it's always the weight of another person, from babies weighing a few pounds to toddlers, teens, and adults weighing all kinds of pounds. Some "losers" referred to it as a cyber baby, but everyone thought up a clever name. I decided on Obie City. After I'm banded, I will start adding weight to Obie City until he's a big feller, ready to go out in the world to fend for himself. Or maybe we could send them all to a special place called Fat City. One condition: he can't come back. He can email and he can call, but he can't come back. Some other names could be: Ima Gedden Thinner, Bustine Out, Thurgood Tobie Lighter, or Hips Ahoy. Well, you get the idea. Thought it might be fun to watch each others' little critters grow and grow, the bigger the better. What do you think? I read this on another forum and thought it was hilarious. Kind of reminded me of this thread and something Lisa/ Delarla said about somebody gaining our weight that we have lost. Otherwise this was a DEAD website. BORING, I left a couple of posts for people aiming them towards this sight. It was basically a few posts from a few people researching the band or on their way for a band and didn't seem to know much about it. Not very active AT ALL. Teresa

LOOKING GOOD PENNI!!! I am really proud of you. You and Donali are both a couple of troopers with all your recent troubles. Keep up the good work and may you mend quickly. How is Pam anyway? Best wishes Teresa;) Where were those pictures taken at anyway? I swear I see margarita glasses hanging from the ceiling... LOL. I almost never drink and a few weeks ago my sister and I went out for a raspberry margarita. It was so good I have been wanting another one ever since. Today I finally got my hubby and we went up to the same place for one to share and the lady at the bar didn't know how to make them! I had to settle for a dacarri.

    Surgery Date

Practice your slow chewing and slow eating now too, it will help later. LOL Glad to hear you got a date! It will be hard waiting all the way till october. When I booked my date it was less then two weeks out. I had done months of research and was just ready to get it done. I was living on pins and needles the last week of waiting. Best wishes to you, Teresa

I'm part of the "IN CROWD"

Alex, Dang thats a lot of milk! I don't drink Protein shakes but I cannot live without my 24 oz. iced white chocolate mocha with carmel and 4 shots. All sugar free of course. I watched them make them and between the ice, the espresso and the syrups they only put in about a cup of milk and a little whip cream. It has about 150 calories. I used to be terrible about eating breakfast and would starve myself till lunch, swing thru the nearest fast food joint and get 2 double cheeseburgers. Not any more baby!!! I still grumble about making breakfast but either way I'll eat something in the mornings now. Sweet Lisa, now I don't have to hear you whining about not having PB'ed yet. See, you weren't missing nothing... LOL. I can't imagine peanuts were gentle coming back up either. Ussually when I have done it, it hasn't felt rough or anything but I definitely try to avoid it. Once again it has been a couple of weeks without any incidents and I am starting to wonder if I have any restriction left. I don't think I'll test it though. I am ussually sorry if I get relaxed about my bite size or speed. Teresa

    Does anyone ever chat live?

I never do, I think I have gone to it a couple of times but nobody else is in there. Why don't we set up a time good for a lot of people and just consistently be there during that time? Teresa

    Support from home

Hi Woodkd, I told a lot of people including a lot of family. Some of them were very skeptical but it just made me do further research until we were all satisfied with the answers. I did try to suggest the issue to my dad about it and he immediately shot it down and was totally negative. I didn't say another word about it to him until I was a few weeks post-op. He lives out of state so it wasn't too hard to keep the secret. Needless to say I know how it feels not to receive support about it but I also did get a lot of support from other people. My husband was good about it. It was his dad who loaned me the money. I think my hubby was a little nervous about whether he would still be attracted to me thinner but I don't think he even thinks about it anymore. Goofy men... I would find support where you can get it. We will always support you and if you have a good friend or two that will locally that would be great. I am sure it hurts a little that they aren't more positive about it, maybe once it is done and they see you losing they will be more upbeat about it. Best wishes, Teresa
  25. Hi Megan, I always dish up my dinner on a small plate and that is always pretty much enough. I find I get a real actual full type of feeling if I have 2 or 3 items on my plate to eat rather than just one. Sometimes I'll eat my normal portion and I won't feel hungry anyway... other times I can eat about the same size portion and be stuffed. I don't know, doesn't seem to be a lot of rhyme or reason. The best part is the HUNGER goes away pretty quickly. I have yet to have a fill so I doubt my restriction is great but it is obviously enough to keep me losing and not chowing down on everything. Do you watch your calories? I think you should get at least 1200 calories a day. Most days I average right around there and then maybe 1 or 2 days a week I'll get as many as 1500 calories or so. If you do track your calories, keep an eye on them and see what you are getting and how your weight loss is affected. Best wishes, Teresa
