Pooooor Lisa! That is terrible! I remember coming home one time with no electricity in the wintertime (I had forgotten to pay the bill...) I was so desperate for lights and heat, I paid the extra $75.00 to have the guy come and hook it all back up after hours. My mom teased me for an eon about being so wimpy and not wanting to camp out in the dark for one night. I could care less about cable, but I would really miss the phone and computer. You have my sympathy. You need to come to Oregon for a long weekend sometime. We inherited a 1967 Dorsett boat. We had the motor repaired last year and we are doing some minor stuff to the body but definitely hoping to get it out on the lake next year. In the meantime we need to renew the expired registration and get our boaters license. Figure we can get all that done in the winter. It isn't a fast boat but it will be fun just getting out and feeling the cool lake breeze. I grew up with canoes and sailing boats. I love Water. Anyway hope your life gets unchaotic soon. Teresa

You are amazing Marie!!!!!! One of my goals for later this fall or next spring is to walk this trail 20 miles around a lake in Cottage Grove Oregon. It used to be railroad tracks and got turned into a walking/ biking trail. I grew up in that area and it is a really pretty lake. There are several covered bridges along the route too. You sure do amaze me and I am thrilled at your accomplishments. Best wishes and hugs, Teresa

Leatha, You have done a great job and like so many other people, I am also proud of you. You are MORE than halfway. Your over 2/3 rds of the way! How cool is that!!! I know I am like Nancy. I have NEVER EVER EVER been thin and the closer I get to it the happier I am. Your doing great!!! Teresa XoXo

Damn Girls!!! Now I know what I am missing from not working in a normal office/group type situation. I am a housekeeper for a bed and Breakfast and lots of individual homes. I am always working by myself, and sometimes wonder about having a job that has more sociallizing benefits and company picnic type deals. I frequently hear about everybody complaining about it though... HMMMM. It will be interesting when I get my first job as a teacher. Leatha, since you split the dinner with somebody, is anybody with you willing to split a desert? What about just ordering a few deserts among all of you and you all just have small samples of each? That is a predicament. Teresa

Hi Jemigirl, Nice to meet you and glad your banding experience was a good one. Keep up the good work and come back here often for good long chats. Somebody always knows an answer to something here. Best wishes, Teresa -
If Jello is called Jelly in England, dare I ask what American Jelly is called in England? I have always wanted to go to Europe and hope to someday. What an experience that would be... I have great big dreams about traveling the world. Ah, but no $$$ so sad... Teresa

I have a date with Dr. Ponce de Leon
hagerteresa replied to PamRN's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
Hi Pam, Once your past your liquid stages you'll never regret having the surgery. I had mine in Tijuana also with Dr. Lopez (5/8/04) and though I was concerned about issues other girls were having with him after I had surgery, I have so far been a perfectly normal case. I love my band. I was terrified too so I can relate to that. I was sobbing hysterically all the way to the operating table. They had to inject me with an anti-anxiety med. and I don't remember a thing after that. Best wishes to you and may it all go 100% wonderfully for you. I have heard of Dr. Ponce. Nothing has ever sounded negative. Have you asked Inamed for any kind of reference on him? I am assuming you have done searches about him on the internet besides just looking in the forums. Well best of luck, Teresa -
Donali, your such a jewel. What would we ever do without you. I miss seeing you post less often but I am glad to know you always read the posts anyway. Makes me feel like I have an angel watching over us. Hi Ginny, So glad to meet you and you do have a lovely photo. Marie- if everybody else is taking pictures and putting them on here, I hope to see yours very soon. I was out snapping pictures of my large self last weekend, there is no reason for you to be self conscious. LOL. I'll get my new pics up this next weekend and then I had better see some of you darling girl. Teresa

New too (not to be confused with U2)

Nice to meet you also. What is wrong with popcorn? I still eat it quite easily. I had my surgery in Mexico and was a self pay. I had to meet with a nutricianist there but she mainly emphasized no soda, and the horrors of PB'ing. I sure hope everything works out with your insurance and the surgery becomes available for you. My insurance had it as an exclusion also and I just didn't have the energy to fight it. Best wishes to you, Teresa -
Thank you all for your support. I really appreciate it. I think we have all done well. I was actually kind of surprised I lost, but then again every week when I go to weigh in I am always amazed when it is less. Seriously I am AMAZED. I often will step back off and then step back on and make sure it stays the same. LOL. Anyway thanks a lot. I am sure glad we have this website. It is much more personable than any of the others I had looked at initially. Best wishes all, Teresa

Good luck Kimberly!!!! -
Hi All, My husband wanted DSL so I said no cable television. He was happy and I am happy with that descision. Nice to see ya post Lisa girl. Missed you... I weighed today and was down 1.7 lbs so now just a few ounces above 300 lbs. The scale is teasing me... LOL. I so want to get to that magic below 300 lb range and it just won't let me. Of course after 3 days of sun fun and food at the beach I really didn't expect to lose anyway but thank goodness another little bit came off. Best wishes to everyone and now I have to go study chemistry again. NEVER ENDING!!! Ok, just one more week... Teresa

I haven't seen it and don't have cable. If anyone ever wants to record it and send me a copy I would love you forever. Thanks, Teresa

Welcome Sarah, I had my surgery in Mexico also with Dr. Lopez on 5/8/04. I had done a lot of research on it once I had heard about it but couldn't afford it nor would my insurance cover it. My father in law finally brought it up and offered to pay for it. Like you, I was down there lickity split (within 2 weeks). I figured I had done all my research, had a list of doctors in order of preference and was ready to get it done with. Best of luck, Teresa Dr. Lopez 5/8/04 362/300.3/??? no fills yet

Husband doesn't understand
hagerteresa replied to sue3's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Sue, As we lose weight, hormones are released like crazy. I find myself having crazy moodswings. Remember this is a board where we are ALL losing weight. Forgive all of us if we just jumped in and made assumptions about the criterias for banding. I love my band and think everybody should have one but I do know that it is a surgery and surgery always carries some level of risk and that is the concern many people were sharing. I sure wish you all the luck in the world and hope your diabetes is cured by this time next year. I've never had it but never have wanted it either. Teresa:cool: -
One Year Ago Today!
hagerteresa replied to Chris S. - L.I.'s topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I think you have done a wonderful job Chris! Leatha and Chris explained it perfectly about eating around the band. 99% of the time I follow the rules but once in a blue moon I'll go out for a social dinner and have a glass of water with the meal. That is pretty rare though. Alse eating around the band includes eating things that melt, such as ice cream, chocolate etc. Also high calorie soups go right thru the band. Recall: Protein first, vegis next and carbs last... AND no liquids for an hour after a meal. Keep up the good work Chris... Teresa -
Happy Anniversary!!!!! Teresa;) P.S. I went to the coast last weekend and had some cute pictures of myself taken. I am changing my avatar and putting some other photos on here next weekend! Teresa

Hi Kathy, It is nice to hear from you again. Cute darling baby!!! I haven't gotten my records from Lopez yet either and I am 4 months out. I emailed several departments of the hospital last week so hopefully they are on their way soon. Best wishes to you and have a fun visit with the baby, Teresa;)

Husband doesn't understand
hagerteresa replied to sue3's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hi Sue, I am glad your hubby came around. Very WISE of him... LOL. My hubby can be stubborn too but thank goodness he was fairly supportive of me getting banded even though I was a self pay (actually hubbies daddy paid for me) and it was being done in Tijuana Mexico. I think he was a little jealous about the money being spent on the procedure for me but otherwise he is happy I am losing weight. I also think initially my husband was/ is concerned that when I am cute, thin and attractive I'll move on. Don't think so. He does drive me crazy sometimes but I always like it when we make up. We spent the last two days in a huff with each other and finally I got sick of it and left a note last night saying, "Truce?" I came home today and he was all cute and sweet and had cleaned the WHOLE HOUSE!!! I had a BMI of 62.2 when I got banded and weighed 362 lbs. Many people here started off heavier than a BMI of 30. I didn't have any co-morbidities. Does that mean I shouldn't have had it done? No, I am only 30 and would have eventually had them. I wanted to avoid them at all costs. 30 lbs or so off of you will probably make all the difference in the world to your health and I think you will consider it a success in the long run. I don't know how much you need to lose but can definitely understand your frustration about not being able to lose it on your own. I have been fighting weight my WHOLE life and just got fed up with the battle. In 4 months I am now down 60 lbs and have dropped 10 whole BMI points. Best wishes and best of luck. Please stay here and let us get to know you more, Teresa -
