Hi Penni, Your an inspiration and I'm very proud of how you've done especially in the exercise department. I wish I could get my butt motivated and out of the cookie jar. Have a wonderful, special band day. Teresa

I don't know what to answer. I love my band but don't personally love or hate my surgeon. I don't think I would have used him again but I didn't have a particularly bad mexico experience and haven't had any emergency or unexpected expenses regarding the band. I love my fill doctor who is located in my state.

GROSSEST Pig Out Combo of Food
hagerteresa replied to I'llsucceed's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
When I was really little I loved cat/dog food and roly poly bugs (yep, mom busted me eating them), My next weird craze was peanut butter and mustard sandwiches and tuna fish sandwiches layered with doritos in the middle (more crunchy then plain ol' lettuce) Fortunately my taste buds have seemed to mellow. I can't think of anything too weird that I like now. -
Hi Vera, I'll be thinking of you and hoping they fix you up with the best possible solution. Sorry your having to go thru this, Teresa
-
Funny funny. My mom used to raise dogs so I know what you are going thru. LOL. Teresa

Okay, I'm back again!!! I wanted to post this link http://www.grangecalendar.com/. I don't know why it didn't highlight itself but I just checked and it does work. This is a group of guys that did a calender for a school fundraiser. Their town is very close to my town and this calender has been an international hit and they just successfully put out there second version. I am sure they would be open to questions on publishing and photographers and such. Please check it out for ideas. Teresa P.S. Here is a page that shows more of their calender pics. http://www.cafepress.com/grangemen/446365

Meeting at Penni's would be fun too. If people want to share that month with me, lets start coming up with some ideas. T P.S. My shoulder is still the same but I go see my primary physician tomorrow morning. Hopefully I'll finally get more answers then. I had to get sneaky with that vicodin and nausea problem. I was taking the pill and immediately eating but getting quite dizzy and sick feeling, now I eat first, wait 20-30 minutes and then take the pill. It seems to help a lot more. The pharmacist wanted me to eat first but I knew that would be a juggle with the band and no drinking after meals thing.

Okay! Just got caught up. I would love to share October. Anyone want to come to Oregon? We have a beautiful beach, coastline, tons of pumkin patches in the fall, fall leaf scenes, mountains, you name it and its here in Oregon. I might be able to travel to meet others but not sure, I'm still up in the air about vegas but that is another option if we can meet for a group shot there. I'm not picky. If I got the pics taken here by myself I don't know who I would ask and would feel more self concious than if I got to hang out and play beauty queen with a few other girls. Sorry I've been away so long. Teresa

How do you get fiber in your diet?
hagerteresa replied to Iluvharleys's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
There is a cerial out there called Sashi that is very high in fiber. Its not too bad. I always try to find ways to get more fiber in too. It is a very healthy benifit to your colon to have more fiber, its not only about staying regular. I have heard several studies about fiber intake and colon cancer relationships. Teresa -
Hi all, Well I just got home from the doctors after being seriously rear ended today. Total bummer. My car is probably going to be totaled and I love my car. I have kept it in good shape and have invested a lot of time and money keeping it sound and dependable. The idiot who hit me wasn't paying attention and didn't see me stop behind another vehicle that was going to turn on a 55 mile an hour road. It was a big truck and I drive a tiny sedan car. The guy didn't even speak any english so I immediately called the police and thank God for two witnesses that stopped to help us. I'm okay except for some whiplash (back and neck pain). I know I am lucky to be so uninjured but I am very sad over the loss of my car and my inability to go to work tomorrow. Ugh!!! I'm so frustrated! Anyway wanted to let you all know. Teresa

I just keep getting one inflamation or another. No MRI's, x-rays or anything have been done at all. Nobody thought it was serious enough. Duh! Rearended by a car going that fast and totally my car and they didn't think I had any serious injuries...Last friday my neck had another flare up and I hadn't been able to move that all that day but it went away by saturday. 2 days later I get this shoulder problem. I haven't been to a chiropractor (though I found out that is what Jack does for a living) but have gotten massage therapy since the accident. I've litterally done nothing but sleep, put ice on my shoulder, eat, go potty and take pain pills pretty much since monday. I called in today to see if I can get another pain killer. I have always taken vicodin just fine but the last few days it has maken me mega sick. I'm on here now just because I'm waiting for another pill to kick in. If I stayed on after that I would be sick again. I couldn't believe that jack ass doctor tried to tell me it wasn't accident related. Things like this do happen to house keepers but my schedule has been lighter than ever, I've been doing this job for 12 years and have NEVER had anything like this ever. I hadn't even worked the 3 days prior to the onset of this. AND THEN when I was in urgent care I had to correct the nurse because she had marked down the wrong shoulder, then I had to listen to them debate about another patient who was getting sent for x-ray about what arm they wanted pictures of, they had marked the wrong arm for her too! That place was absolutely ridiculous. They weren't even at a busy period because I had gone down at 7 in the morning and was one of the only few patients there. Those kinds of mistakes are hideous. Anyway thanks for all the love folks. Best wishes, Teresa

Hello, Hope you have a good birthday!!! :banana Teresa

Hi all and thanks for your well wishes, I have been so miserable. Just a sobbing fool all week. I had saturday sunday and monday off of work and didn't do anything strenous at all. I noticed monday evening my left shoulder started getting really sore and it kept me up all night. Tuesday I tried to work 1 handed but by the time I got off of work I was crying and on my way to urgent care. Ends up it was a 4 hour wait so since I still had plenty of pain pills at home I decided to go back to urgent care the next morning (yesterday). I got down there and was still in horrible pain and still couldn't move my shoulder or arm. Doc diagnosed it as bursitis and decided to do a cortisone shot into the joint. It took him 4 tries and lots of torture for me. Now the injection site hurts, the shoulder still hurts, the pain killers make me nauseous if I don't eat with them or get on the computer for long. I've just been frustrated and in pain all week and don't feel like I can do anything. The vicodin are ONLY taking the edge off so even with the pills I still hurt a lot. Urgent care said it would be hard to prove this is accident related but my therapist was aghast he said such a thing and considering I've never had anything like this ever before and it was not due to having done anything strenous she thinks its definitely related. I think so too. She had an accident and never felt any pain from it till 6 months out so the fact that this new pain came about at 3 months out doesn't surprise her at all. I've complained about my joints being sorer than normal (including this specific shoulder) to both her and my primary physician recently too. I just wish it wasn't so debilitating and that shot hurt like hell yesterday. Hopefully the pain starts to diminish soon. The pain radiates out from a spot on the front of my shoulder but goes all the way down behind my shoulder, down to my elbow and even my fingers have been swollen. I feel like I am being a big baby about it but seriously on the pain scale this is registering as an 8/9 for me without the painpills and 7/8 with the pills. I would say the worst pain I was ever in was my broken ankle 5 years ago and that was a definite 10 for 3 days. Anyway thanks for the concern. Teresa

I've been in lots of pain and haven't been able to get on here. The pain meds make me nauseous whenever I even look at the computer. I didn't really care which month I did.

I've have been in horrendous pain and haven't been able to get on here in the last few days but noticed my name wasn't even listed on the other thread about this. I'm still suffering from inflamations from the accident and had to go to urgent care this morning. I get nauseus ever time I get on the computer from the pain meds. I'm sad I was discluded from the calender.

Hey, Where is my name on this? I wanted to participate. Teresa

New yummy recipes for mushy stage and beyond
hagerteresa replied to hagerteresa's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
You just got me thinking about other yummy recipes. At the B&B two of my all time favorites are spinach gnocci and crab cakes but we also make a heavenly french toast using honey and challah bread. I haven't tried the french toast since being banded though. I am a science student but to be honest, my most fun science experiments are in the kitchen. I always change recipes to fit my preference. Here are two others that I love: Ham, Potato, cheese yumminess (I grew up on this recipe. I'm sure the calories aren't great but its yummy on those cold chilly days or when you need comfort food) Par boil 5 small-medium potatos Meanwhile make a basic white sauce using broth, 1 bottle of good beer and a little milk, at the very end (after it is thickened) add in 2 cups of grated SHARP cheese. Once the potatos are mostly done cube them into a casserole dish, add in some chopped/cubed ham and top with the sauce. Bake for 45 minutes @ 350 Jack, that beer cheese Soup is basically a slightly thinner version of that white sauce. Another much healthier recipe: Lentil soup Simmer 1 lb of lentils or split peas in 4 cups of Water and 2 can of chicken broth with a smoked ham shank for 1 hour. Remove shank and add in 3 well chopped carrots, 3 well chopped celery sticks and 1 well chopped onion (I always just pop them in the food processor). Put all the vegis in the pot with the lentils and simmer for another 40-60 minutes. Season with salt, pepper, marjarom and bay. Debone any of the meat off of the shank and add back to the pot. -

Michelle, I thought along the same lines as you do about liquid calories but this soup is actually very chunky and filling. When I make it I use the light Tillamook sour cream and when I did the calorie count it looked like it had about 250 calories per bowl but that is a big filling bowl. I was averaging that it made 6 servings and it really does. That scrambled egg thing is good too. That is just something I made up the other day. I love chili poppers and chili rellanos so I try to replicate them in egg dishes. That soup recipe was actually pure luck. They sell it at my favorite grocery store made in their deli section but its kind of expensive. So I asked them last week what was in it and the girl was so sweet she looked up the recipe for me. Of course I made a fast mental note of all of it and off I went grabbing the ingredients. They use cream in theirs but I like it just fine with the light sour cream. I felt so slick. Anyway best wishes, Teresa P.S. I just made another batch last night and used an extra can of diced tomatoes. My hubby thought it actually improved it even more and made it a little zestier. I was including that extra can when I did the calorie count. I went ahead and added it into the recipe too. -

At the bed and breakfast I work at, when the owner cooks soups and just about anything else she cooks, she always does it in huge batches so she can freeze several individual portions of it. It makes life so nice. -

How can anyone eat canned soup? I don't even like too many restaurant soups...
