I can totally relate... My best friend is gay. I went and stayed the weekend with him and his partner last weekend and it was like baby sitting a crazy neurotic person... LOL. I felt wiped out by the end of the weekend. They make great friends but can be a bit high maintenance. I hope you get over being sick. That is no fun at all. Moving isn't either. Are you moving for college? I stayed with my parents till I was 21 and was homesick as heck when I did finally move. Best wishes on your liquid diet, Teresa

Hello, Did you say you live in Washington State? I got my band in Mexico and use a wonderful fill doctor in Portland Oregon for my fills and aftercare. What part of Washington do you live in? Anyway my docs name and number is Thomas Eubanks at 503-353-3005. If you can't find anything closer to home, he will take out of country patients. Hope that helps. Best wishes, Teresa

Did anyone have to get a Venae Cavae Filter?
hagerteresa replied to nora33's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
this is very interesting. I recently learned that my mom has some kind of clotting disorder that is hereditary and I need to think about researching it and getting tested. My mom has always had varicose veins in her legs as well. I never heard anything about this preventative measure. -
I'm with you Vera. I was hoping my trip would be more like a mini vacation but what can you expect when your down there having surgery? All in all I was satisfied with my experience and would do it again.

Thanks Carol, It seems like forever since I've seen your face. I definitely tell everyone about my band... LOL. I'm just so happy with it most of the time. I really think anyone who treats me medically should be aware of it too. Your sure getting close to goal, great job! Tarafeena, I'll be interested in what your dentist office says about it. Teresa

Penni, If you save up more capri's or clothes can you send some my way. I'm just getting to the 22/24 size. Thanks Teresa

has anyone heard of Bio Centric IntraGastric balloon
hagerteresa replied to deyanne's topic in Gastric Balloon Forum
I have heard that inamed makes a baloon for the same purpose. I know Lopez used one on a super obese person who had to lose weight before being able to get the lapband. I recall seeing the article before I had my surgery. Too bad they can't be permanent. Seems even less invasive than the band. -
I had never heard of a Yodel either. Must be an east coast thing... Very odd. Good job though girl for avoiding it. I never knew there was any type of junk food I hadn't heard of...

There are so many new faces introducing themselves I couldn't possibly greet each of you individually. For those of you that have recently gotten your band CONGRATULATIONS!!! I know its tough the first few weeks but hopefully it gets smoother as time goes on. I am almost 1 year post op and absolutely love my band. For those of you researching, keep it up, bug your insurance company, save your pennies if you have to go out of country...whatever. I can't tell you how much I appreciate my band. There is a learning curve and there are moments I don't love it so much but overall I am 100% satisfied with the results as I approach my first bandiversary. I can only hope and pray all of your surgeries and band journeys are as uneventful as mine have been. Best wishes, Teresa

Welcome Everybody!

WOW Donovine, Your are doing wonderfully! Is it hard finding local docs to do the midband fills? Congratulations! Teresa -
Oh GOOD! I'm so relieved to hear that. What a tough break, poor thing. I'm thinking about you Katie and wishing the fastest recovery possible. Best wishes and lots of hugs, Teresa

Oh I definitely don't have an immune system problem nor any heart problems. In fact as I have lost weight my blood pressure has dropped beautifully. I used to be around 150/80 and now its been more like 113/76. Hopefully it stops dropping or I won't even have a beating heart by the time I reach goal (not for a long while)... My doc is just being cautious. I rarely take antibiotics so I suppose once in a blue moon won't hurt too much. Thanks for the info though Pat.

Hi Lori, I have had my band a year too but don't know what I can offer. I have reasonable restriction and still have to be careful about chewing and eating slowly enough. If you are pb'ing all the time STOP eating solid foods for a few days. Maybe your throat and stomach are just very irritated and you aren't letting it recover. We really should do that anyway anytime we PB. I myself do PB once in awhile but its because I forget to chew and eat slowly enough. I also have to be extra cautious in the mornings. Things are more prone to get stuck then. You don't drink with meals do you? I have gotten a stuck feeling from drinking to soon after eating. I know Michelle (another girl on the forum) had a severe irritation with her band but it got all better with treatment. Kathy, Jello might just be a challenging food for you. I think I would have problems with it now. Its just so globby. Are you still on the liquid or the mushy stage? Rather than jello, I do better with pudding. Applesauce is gentle too. All the wonderful rich creamy dips are good too. I loved those during the mushie phase. Sorry your both having a tough time. Feel free to pm me if you have any questions or want to chat more. Hopefully some others will get on here and respond too. Best wishes, Teresa

Isa, Did your doctor give you a post surgery food schedule? I was on clear liquids 1 week, full liquids week 2, mushies week 3, slightly less mushie week 4 etc. Didn't get full solid foods till week 5 or so. Most people had very similar requirements to mine so I would have to say it is unusual for you to be eating normal foods now. Its possible that you physically can eat them because you may not have swelled as much as normal and you are still prefill but if your not supposed to be eating solid foods yet, you shouldn't push it. Your just supposed to focus on healing now. Best wishes, Teresa

Down 102lbs in 6 months and 253 in 3 years

WWWWOOOWWWW!!! You both look great! -
Well as a precaution I decided to go with my docs advice and take Vitromax (not sure of the spelling). I recall a previous (a few years ago) dentist wanting me to take one for the pin in my broken ankle so I might as well be safer than sorry. I told the dentist about the band and they actually copied the brochure I keep in my purse and put it in my files. I like to be proactive about my health care and make sure everyone knows what is going on from every angle. Nothing too serious showed up in my x-rays or my ultrasound for my shoulder. The accident probably stressed the area which did show a bit of arthritis and calcium deposits. My neck still goes back and forth and I'm still going to massage therapy and physical therapy. Anyway thanks for your input everyone, Teresa

GROSSEST Pig Out Combo of Food
hagerteresa replied to I'llsucceed's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I was only 2 or 3 when I ate rolly polly bugs. I have no idea what they tasted like. My dad used to make me peanut butter sandwiches with apple and honey. Those were yummy! Last weekend I tried apples with cheese slices. I never thought it sounded good but it really was good. -
Lisa, are you sure your insurance won't cover a new port? I asked my insurance twice before getting the band if they would cover complications and they said yes. That even includes the flouro expense when I get fills. They won't cover the fill but consider the flouro neccessary due to complications getting them done blindly. As far as I'm concerned they'll cover anything unusual as it comes up and I'm assuming that includes additional surgeries for fixing or replacements. You might check for the heck of it. Teresa

Who are you and what have you done with my wife?
hagerteresa replied to Alexandra's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
That is an adorable outfit! I never wear anything girly either. Since I clean houses I'm usually more grubby than girly. You look darling in that shirt. Congratulations. -
I checked into the chat room, it said you were there but you never answered, Teresa

Beautiful! I would have never guessed Texas either. I thought it was Mexico. I am longing for a nice relaxing sun fill vacation. I have a 7 night mexican cruise scheduled for next DECEMBER! I absolutely can't wait to go but wish it was sooner. I've never been on a cruise before so I'm very excited. Glad you had a nice vacation. Teresa

I'm glad your both happy with your bands. Your both doing great and have a wonderful attitude. Pink, I can totally relate about the pigging out but really eating less. I don't know how many times I have belittled myself for pigging out to find I had actually lost weight when I weighed. I love my band too! Best wishes, Teresa

Hi Lisa, I'm glad to see you still here and using LBT. I was bummed when you were missing in action for awhile but you always make me smile. Your really not very alone at all. I have the same bad evening eating habit as you. I basically starve all day and do nothing but munch all evening. My hubby is at work from 5 pm to 1 am so I'm all alone all evening. Sometimes I make good choices but a lot of times I make bad ones too. I'd imagine that is why I've been plateaued for 3 months. I need to break the cycle. I also haven't been to Water aerobics since last november and keep having to stall getting back into it because of my car accident problems (neck and shoulder keep alternating flare ups. I had xrays and an ultra sound last week) When my shoulder hurt the most (I was off of work for over a week) ALL I did was eat comfort foods. When I went back to the docs I was prepared to have gained 5 lbs but expected a 10 lb gain. I was happy to find out I stayed the exact same! After an entire batch of Cookies, chips and eating anything else you could think of, I was pretty happy staying the same. I do tend to do a lot better if I remember to eat Breakfast and pack a bite for lunch. If I come home ravenous it is the beginning of the end. I'm sorry your band journey has been so tough and hope someday it goes more smoothly. I really do think a fun evening class might just be the right answer. Anyway best wishes to you, Teresa

In Oregon we have had a bee mite and fungal problem that has destroyed a lot of our honey bee colonies. Recently thought the 100 year old grange hall had some renovations and when they opened up a wall they found 6 giant nests that spanned the entire length of the wall (probably about 100 feet). They found gallons upon gallons of honey. They ended up relocating the bees to a safer location. A lot of our surrounding farmers depend heavily on the bees for pollination. Glad you found that Penni, before John got hurt.
