Hi, my name is Suzanne and I had my surgery 12/28/2012. I am looking for a mentor and buddies who are near to the Tampa, Florida area. I live in Winter Haven, Florida. I am new to lap band and new to "forums" so I hope I am doing this correctly. My doctor has me on clear liquids for a week. i was wondering if it is ok to put some crackers in a cup of broth and drink them down when the crackers become really soft? Also, is it normal to have some gas after drinking liquid or having some jello? Does this go away? Looking forward to making some new and lasting friendships.

Question, I started the liquid stage of post op for weeks 2 and 3. I have been having hot cereals, fruit juice, Soups and yogurt, I am afraid to "eat" too much. How much liquid should you have at meal time? Should you have small meals or stick with just 3 meals a day? Also, I have been reading the booklet my doctor gave me beofre surgery and it talks about eating too much can cause your band to slip. Is this something that easily happens? Thanks Suzanne

Yes, for weeks 2 and 3 I can have thin yogurt, sugar free pudding and also fat free frozen yogurt. On my sheet it says full liquids should be the consistency you can drink through a straw without using the straw. Suzanne

I have read many posts and noticed that after surgery most lap band patients still drink Protein shakes. My doctor uses the Chike brand shakes for the 2 weeks prior to surgery. I would like to continue using them now that I have had my surgery but am interested if anyone else uses the Chike shakes? Do you have any good recipes or mix in's? Even if you don't use Chike can you make the shakes with something other than Water. Or is water the best mixer to keep the calorie count down? Thanks Suzanne

My doctor is Dr. Grossbard and I had my surgery at Tampa Memorial as well. One of my co-workers used Opti Fast prior to her surgery and she told me she made her shakes really thick. I did the same with mine using about 1/2 cup to 1 cup ice. You will be able to do it. Just think of the end result Suzanne -

I have found some helpful hints and a wealth of knowledge. This new journey is a little scary but exciting at the same time. The great support I find here I know I will be able to make my goal. -

Hi Vanessa and Happy New Year! Everything will go well with the shakes. I was a little worried at first but I counted down to my surgery by the shake. My doctor uses the Chike brand of shakes. What kind of shakes are you going to use? -

Thank you! Great to meet both of you. I will stay away from the crackers. I had not thought about them turning into dough balls. Thank you for the support. I am finding my way around the website better each time. I am so happy with my decision.
