You have done well so far good luck to you!

Hi Mike, I'm glad you are reaching out and asking questions. One thing you should understand when you have the lap band is how to eat with the band. It's not the same. It takes some getting used to and you will have many learning experiences as you begin your journey. I was banded in January and am down 41 lbs and couldn't be happier. Good luck to you!

i love the ken's lite balsamic vinaigrette. i tip the bottle and pour out as much of the oil as i can. don't know why with the lite dressings the makers always put so much in them. but it's yummy and then i add just a little sprinkle of splenda.

It's personal who you decide to tell. I told several people at work who are very supportive and encouraging in a positive way. My family on the other hand is another story. The day I had my surgery my sister went on a diet and thinks she is in a some sort of contest with me. Sends me texts of how much she's lost and pictures, etc. rarely asks how I am doing except to compare the weigiht loss, omg who cares? My dad is constantly commenting on what I should or shouldn't be eating and if I haven't lost weight in a couple of days starts looking for things I am doing to cause it and offering advice (mind you he is 82 years old and hasn't a clue because has never been heavy). He means well but doesn't understand how annoying and critical his comments are. My mother is a know-it-all and I didn't actually tell her intentionally but my sister did and she can barely contain herself from telling me everything she has read and knows about lap band. I keep my distance. So moral is when people know you take your chances of how they will react and how that reaction will affect you. Stay strong and believe in yourself. It doesn't matter what other people think but sometimes it's hard to let comments slide because they can make you feel bad. -
no rhyme or reason. i had to have a small unfill after 6 days because couldn't keep anything down. now some days i feel restriction and others i don't and can consume way too much food. mornings are impossible can't eat but a couple of bites and in the evening can eat a lot. can't decide if a need more fill or what. it's been nearly 2 weeks since my unfill. haven't lost a thing since then. ugh. what to do what to do

good luck jessica! -
So jealous of those that got their first fills. I am 3 weeks out before I get mine and have no restriction at all. Hard to limit myself and stick to full liquids and mushies. Can't wait for some restriction to help!

No you don't need his blessing but I understand how important it can be to gain parental support. He needs some education. My dad was against it until I explained to him how uncomfortable I was with my weight that I could barely walk up the stairs without gasping for air, always worried about whether I could fit in a chair, hard to take a bath and get out, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, etc. I explained I could continue on the path of yoyo diets but that I was unhealthy and needed help. He also watched a documentary on I think 60 minutes or one of those shows and learned that it is safe, effective, and more and more recommended for weight loss. He has become very supportive and wants to help (to the point of annoyance). He still adds in little digs about all he has to do is stop eating when he has a few pounds to lose. I just tell him he is fortunate to be able to do that. Funny thing is he has been obsessed with my weight as long as I can remember. I did not ask for his approval but rather just old him what I was doing after the appointment was already scheduled. Good luck and I hope you make the right decision for yourself and not allow others to keep you from being a healthy happy person.

Dr. Kuri did my band on 1/8. It was a great experience - nice staff, he was the best, and hospital was clean and felt very safe. I have appt. for my first fill on 2/13 locally and my insurance is going to cover, yeah! No problems at all. Other than the incisions itching, I am doing great. I have yet to find a good protein drink I like but the search continues. Good luck to all!

I just tried Isopure liquid protein today and really liked it. 40G protein, comes in various fruit flavors, is like drinking fruit juice. It comes in 20 oz bottles so no mixing and is a little pricey but to me it's worth it.
