I was banded by Dr. Rumbaut in May 2004. He was great, and I haven't had one problem with my band. I haven't been active on this site for a couple of years, and I am blown away by the number of band erosions. Whew, I guess I've been blessed. I would think that this is THE major consideration here, lack of problems. Good Luck!

Thank ya'll for responding. Seems like I have gotten the flu. I'm not Pbing, but I haven't really eaten any hard protiens yet. Got a terrible sore throat. I will keep an eye out for being too tight. Thanks again for your advice.

I got my 2nd fill this past Friday because I've been stuck on my weight loss for months now. I did liquids that day, and mushies yesterday. Seems to be somewhat more restricted. Yesterday I started noticing that I was coughing, productive coughing from the chest with a bit of soreness down my esophagus. This morning, I woke up with major congestion and sore throat and kind of a burning sensation down my esophagus and into my chest. Could be a cold, but this sensation down my esophagus has me thinking that it has something to do with the adjustment. Anybody get this kind of reaction? I was thinking it might be some GERD type reaction.

Jonathan, I missed your thread, too. By now , I hope that you are feeling well. I had a similar experience after banding, vomited for two or three days. Your stomach lets you know that it doesn't like this restrictive device one damn bit. You had it much worse than me, though. Best wishes to you.

MO is the common thread that binds us. We've all felt the pain, the frustration, and anger. We all cling to the hope that someday we will be "normal", and have self control, albeit assisted. After reading these posts, I can't help but think that the "journeys" that we each relate, have brought us to the path of greater understanding and tolerance of others different from ourselves. Sounds like a lesson for the masses!

Research our site, pick your Mexican surgeon carefully after you've read lots and lots of posts. Good Luck

Lisa, I am so glad that you have finally seen a "real" doctor who knew what he was doing. Thank you Penni for taking care of our buddy. God Bless you both, and I just know brighter days are coming now. -
My son-in-law has been taking it for a couple of weeks now, and he has seen a significant improvement in his ADD. He, is quite a bit older than your son, I'm sure, but he says he hasn't noticed any negative side effects. Good Luck!

I am sorry to hear about the incompetentcy that you guys have had to cope with in the past week. I know that ya'll are glad to be at home, where you have some control and sanity. Best wishes to you both, hope that the quality of your lives continues to improve. God Bless you both.

Once, about 6 years ago, I saw Alec Baldwin in line at the K-mart, of all places. He was one person behind me, and was wearing a football jersey, sunglasses and a baseball cap. I just knew it was him, the whole time I kept glancing his way, checking him out from head to toe, he was buying sunscreen and beach towels. At one point he actually said, " How ya doin', babe." It was cinched when I went out the store there was a white stretch limo waiting for him right in front. I was in a daze for a while after "the sighting!" He was HOT! Later, I heard that he and Kim Bassinger lived about 50 miles away on a ranch in Mississippi. So happy with small thrills!

Ryan and Patty, I also will keep you both in my prayers for a successful surgery, and relief from the pain that Patty has been enduring. May you both find strength and comfort in knowing that you are loved by so many.

Babs, ya know what I think? You're already a screaming success. If you want to go further, you can do it, but if you don't, nothing can detract from the winning story that you have to tell right now. I know what you're saying about adjusting your head to where you're at now. Don't hold yourself to a timetable, the date on the calendar doesn't mean that your not going to accomplish your goal. I have a strong hunch that you will cross the finish line in your own time. Congratulations on your impressive progress to date. I admire you!

Awesome progress Leo! You are an inspiration for all of us. Thanks for sharing those photos.

Band Rejection - Answer to Port Problems
Neicy replied to DeLarla's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Lisa, I am hoping that you beat the odds, and you are able to keep your band forever. I haven't posted for a while, I've been too busy NOT losing weight! I do check in from time to time to see how all my band buddies are. Best wishes to you girl. -
Michelle, I will keep those prayers going up for you and your son. Hope all the testing comes back with good news for ya'll. God Bless your family.

Too bad they don't make a band for meanness and ugliness. They could benefit from this type of restriction!

Penni, I ordered some of the Source of Life vitamins that you recommended. Wow, what a difference! Those little Flintstone chewables just can't hold a candle to it. I am amazed at how much better I feel. If I'm not mistaken, I think my cravings are even reduced, but I'll have to give it another week or two before I'll call on that one. And they don't even taste bad. Took me aback when I saw that green color, though! Thanks sweetie!

I drink the Hood's low carb milk. Michelle recommended it some time back, and it tastes really good, and has as much protien per ounce as an Atkin's shake, with less calories. It comes in chocolate, strawberry and plain white milk. Haven't tried the strawberry, but the chocolate is good and the white milk tastes real creamy.

Good luck NY Lapster. I have only told a few very trusted friends about my band. Just don't need to have the whole world knowing my personal business. If I am out eating, I just eat very slowly, nobody notices that I don't eat as much as them! People ask me how I lost weight, I just smile and say I eat lots less than I used to, and I'm telling the truth!
-
Ok Ya'll, my real problem is McDonalds vanilla cones. I eat one every day. I could eat two if I weren't too embarrased to go back! I justify it by the fact that it says they have only 150 calories on the nutritional site. But let's face it, that's 150 I don't need! I will cut back to once, no twice a week. That's way better than 7 a week, right?

Update to life or something like it.

Glad to hear that you've got a plan. Best of luck to you and your family. -
Sign me up for this challenge! If I could only avoid the goodies, I'd be so much more ahead in my goals. If it's around, I'm gonna eat it! I have been eating oatmeal raisin cookies. They DO have plenty of fiber, ya know.
-
Wow Debi, I hope your surgery will get you back on track again. I am losing very slowly, but I do indulge in foods that I should avoid. Haven't slayed all my demons yet!

Melisa, there was something that I really enjoyed after surgery. It is Light and Fit yogurt smoothies by dannon. The best flavor is peach and passionfruit. yummy!
